It also offers a choice of manual or PDK, with optional chassis tuning. Whether that makes it the right Cayman depends on which engine character, equipment and price matter most to you.
2025 Cayman range: what the S costs and delivers
Porsche’s 2025 U.S. model listing places the Cayman S between the base Cayman and Cayman GTS 4.0:
| 2025 model | U.S. starting MSRP | U.S. listed power | U.S. listed acceleration | UK listed power and engine |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 718 Cayman | $75,400 | 300 hp | 0–60 mph in 4.7 seconds | 300 PS; turbocharged four-cylinder range |
| 718 Cayman S | $87,900 | 350 hp | 0–60 mph in 4.2 seconds | 350 PS; turbocharged four-cylinder |
| 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 | $103,300 | 394 hp | 0–60 mph in 3.8 seconds with Sport Chrono Package | 400 PS; 4.0-litre naturally aspirated six-cylinder |
The U.S. prices, power and acceleration entries are from Porsche USA’s 2025 listing; its GTS acceleration figure specifically includes Sport Chrono. The UK power and engine descriptions are from Porsche Great Britain’s 2025 listing. These are market-specific manufacturer figures, not a single like-for-like test. The UK listing uses PS and reports 0–62 mph times with Sport Chrono: 4.7 seconds for the base car, 4.2 seconds for the S and 4.0 seconds for the GTS 4.0. The UK page marks the S “Limited Availability.” Porsche USA’s 2025 718 listing and Porsche Great Britain’s Cayman S listing provide the market-specific details.
The U.S. S’s $87,900 starting MSRP is before options, taxes, title, registration, delivery/processing/handling, dealer charges and potential tariffs; dealer selling prices may differ. Treat it as a listed starting point, not an out-the-door quote.

#1 Best Overall
1. It is a meaningful power step above the base Cayman
On Porsche USA’s 2025 listing, the S has 350 hp against the base car’s 300 hp. The listed starting MSRP difference is $12,500, calculated from $87,900 for the S and $75,400 for the base Cayman. Those are the page’s U.S. figures; they do not establish that the cars have equivalent equipment or that the same price gap applies in another market.
For buyers who want more power than the entry model without moving to the GTS 4.0, that is the S’s most straightforward case. The listed U.S. 0–60 mph time is 4.2 seconds for the S versus 4.7 seconds for the base. Porsche’s page does not present those entries as an independent, controlled comparison.

2. It keeps the turbo four-cylinder instead of stepping up to the GTS 4.0
The Cayman S uses a turbocharged four-cylinder; the GTS 4.0 is a different proposition, with a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre six-cylinder in Porsche Great Britain’s 2025 specification. Porsche USA lists 350 hp for the S and 394 hp for the GTS 4.0, with U.S. starting MSRPs of $87,900 and $103,300 respectively. In the UK, Porsche lists 350 PS for the S and 400 PS for the GTS.
This is a choice between engine configurations as well as rungs on a price and power ladder. The manufacturer specifications establish the distinction, not which engine will sound or feel better to a particular driver.

3. The listed S can be had with a manual or PDK
Porsche’s 2025 U.S. and UK listings describe the Cayman S as available with automatic or manual transmission. Porsche Great Britain identifies the manual as a six-speed and PDK as a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with manual and automatic modes. Check the specification of the particular car: a general model listing does not guarantee that every combination is currently available to order or in dealer stock.
4. Its mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout is central to the car
Porsche’s technical specification identifies the Cayman S as mid-engine and rear-wheel drive. The same document lists a 2,497 cm³ turbocharged flat-four producing 350 hp and 309 lb-ft of torque, while warning that specifications may vary by market. Porsche’s technical sheet supplies those figures.

Porsche Great Britain says that in the 718 models, the mid-engine concept with boxer engine results in a low and central centre of gravity, and presents this layout as supporting dynamic cornering. That is Porsche’s explanation of the design, not an independent handling test.

Porsche Great Britain describes two optional features that buyers may want to compare across actual cars:

- Compatible Models: Compatible with this car cup coaster is suitable for multiple car cup holders of all car models and will add style to the inner decoration of your love car.
- Materials: This car cup coaster for cup holder is made of high quality silicone. It's eco-friendly and soft and beautiful. The materials stand for sturdiness and durability. Replacing with these coasters to your car will add extra decor to the inner style of your love car.
- Versatility: The car coasters can protect the original cup holder slots of the car from dust, drinks or water, and keep the place clean and sticky-free
- Non-Slip: These car coasters for cup holders are of excellent grip that can prevent the cup from sliding, and help reduce the noise caused by the cup sliding while driving.
- Stylish Appearance: Classic black and white colors and with your shiny in the center, these cup coasters are outstanding and practical for inner decoration of your car.
- PASM: Porsche says its optional active suspension management system continuously adjusts damping at each wheel and lowers the body by 10 mm.
- Sport Chrono: Porsche describes this optional package as sharpening chassis, engine and gearbox setup.
Do not assume either feature is included in the starting price or standard in every market. Equipment and availability should be confirmed against the listing and specification for the specific car.
How to decide whether the S fits
The S makes the clearest case for a buyer who wants a step up in output from the base Cayman but does not specifically want the GTS 4.0’s naturally aspirated six-cylinder. A decision between these trims is better made by comparing the exact cars and market offers than by treating Porsche’s published figures as a substitute for an independent test.
Quick Recap
- Compare the actual selling price and equipment, not only the starting MSRP.
- Choose between the six-speed manual and seven-speed PDK based on the transmission you want, then confirm that the specific car has it.
- Check whether PASM or Sport Chrono is fitted and whether those options matter to your intended use.
- For a used car, evaluate its service history and condition separately; the specifications above do not establish reliability, repair costs or ownership value.
