The displayed scores range from 76 to 82 out of 100, but the duplicate means the page is not a list of seven distinct SUV nameplates. Treat it as a dated ranking snapshot, not a definitive verdict on which Toyota SUV is best for you.

The page is sorted by “Best Rating.” These are the entries and scores it displays; the ordering and scores can change, so check the current ranking page before making a decision.

The ranking page does not explain why Highlander appears twice. There is no basis here for assigning the duplicate to a particular trim or powertrain. Nor does this page establish that Toyota’s other SUVs—including the 4Runner, Grand Highlander, and RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid—were rejected or rated lower. J.D. Power’s broader Toyota SUV overview describes models beyond these seven entries.
How to interpret the scores
J.D. Power says its ratings reflect its best available data and are updated each September. Until new consumer survey data is available, ratings for current model years carry forward from the prior model year. The organization also cautions that a prior-year score applied to a redesigned vehicle may be less proven in its first model year. A score shown beside a 2026 model therefore should not automatically be read as the result of a fresh survey of 2026 owners.

The 100-point consumer rating on a model page draws on quality and reliability, driving experience, resale, and dealership experience. For example, J.D. Power’s 2026 RAV4 page lists an overall 79, with 77 for quality and reliability, 79 for driving experience, 88 for resale, and 76 for dealership experience. These dimensions can help explain a rating, but they do not answer whether a particular SUV suits your space, traction, or utility needs.
Which Toyota SUV fits your priorities?
For family driving: RAV4 or Highlander
J.D. Power describes both the RAV4 and Highlander as suited to on-road family use. The RAV4 is a compact crossover, with hybrid and fuel-efficient drivetrain options, available all-wheel drive, and ground clearance that can help with varied everyday routes. Highlander is a three-row SUV; seating capacity depends on configuration and trim, so confirm the exact vehicle’s layout rather than assuming every version seats the same number.

The RAV4’s 79 ranking score is not a reason to overlook it if its size and use better match your household. Separately, Toyota RAV4 ranked highest in its segment in J.D. Power’s 2025 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study. That is a result from a different study and should not be conflated with the 2026 ranking-page score.
For a smaller footprint: Corolla Cross
J.D. Power describes the Corolla Cross as a two-row subcompact SUV. It is the most compact choice among the distinct models shown here, making it worth considering if you want an SUV with a smaller footprint than a three-row or large utility vehicle. Check the current trim’s seating, cargo layout, and available equipment against your needs.

For hybrid, more upscale utility: Crown Signia
The Crown Signia is one of the page’s 80-point entries. Its place on the list is a starting point, not proof that it will be the right alternative to a conventional family SUV. Compare its current powertrain, cargo and passenger space, and trim equipment with the vehicles you are considering; the ranking alone does not establish a universal advantage.
For off-road use: Land Cruiser, or consider the 4Runner
J.D. Power describes the Land Cruiser as having standard four-wheel drive and off-road capability. The 4Runner is also described in J.D. Power’s broader Toyota SUV overview as a truck-based choice with extensive off-road hardware, but it does not appear in this particular seven-entry ranking snapshot. The page does not explain the selection, so its absence should not be treated as a negative score or an off-road comparison.

J.D. Power characterizes the Sequoia as a large SUV and groups it with truck-based choices. If you need a larger vehicle or are comparing options for towing and utility, check the exact model year and trim’s published capacity and equipment; the 79-point rating does not establish a towing figure or tell you which configuration meets your requirements.
