Short answer: Green EV’s Sunny is a low-speed electric scooter for short urban trips, not a high-speed motorcycle. Published listings describe 40 km and 60 km versions, while a separate secondary listing describes an 80 km version. The 40 km listing quotes 4–6 hours for a full charge. ZigWheels’ 2026 calculator puts the 60 km version’s electricity cost at about ₹0.15 per kilometre, or roughly ₹7 for 50 km of daily riding at a ₹6.5-per-kWh tariff. Those are published specifications and calculations, not independent road-test results: hills, rider weight, speed, traffic, temperature, tyre pressure and battery age can reduce the distance available.
For a dependable commute, size the scooter from your worst routine day rather than the headline range, leave a reserve, and confirm the exact battery, charger, warranty and service support with a local dealer before paying.

What the Green Sunny is—and what the published numbers mean
The Green Sunny is positioned as a simple, low-speed electric scooter for neighbourhood travel, errands and short commutes. A Moglix retail listing describes a 250 W motor, a 48 V system, a 25 km/h top speed and a claimed 40 km range. ZigWheels lists 40 km and 60 km variants. Evehicals separately describes an 80 km version with a 48 V 26 Ah lithium battery, 2,000 stated charge cycles and a stated running cost of ₹0.20 per kilometre. That 80 km information is lower-confidence secondary evidence; treat it as a listing claim until a dealer confirms that the version is actually available in your area.

It is not the same as a verified distance on public roads with a particular rider and route. Use the figures to compare versions, then apply a practical reserve for your own route.

| Published version or listing | Motor and electrical details | Claimed range | Charging information | Evidence and qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sunny 40 km | 250 W, 48 V (Moglix listing) | 40 km | 4–6 hours (Moglix retail listing) | Retail specification; actual time varies with battery state, charger and temperature |

Published specifications can differ because sellers may use different model names, battery packs or update pages at different times. Ask for the exact variant name and battery label on the invoice, not just “Sunny” in a conversation or advertisement.
How long does a Green Sunny take to charge?
The only specific time published
Moglix states 4–6 hours for its 40 km Green Sunny listing. That is the useful planning figure currently available, but it should not be applied automatically to the 60 km or 80 km versions. A larger battery, a different charger or a different battery chemistry can change the time. Neither a fast-charging specification nor a universal charging time for every Sunny variant is established.
What a 4–6 hour charge means in practice
If the battery is nearly empty, connecting after you arrive home in the evening should normally leave a 40 km-listed scooter ready the next morning. A partly charged battery will finish sooner, while a very hot or cold battery, a charger that is limiting current, or an ageing pack can extend the wait. The charger’s indicator normally changes state when charging is complete; use the manual or seller’s instructions for the exact light pattern rather than relying on a generic colour code.

- Park on a dry, stable surface with ventilation around the charger and battery. Keep the charger away from standing water, flammable material and direct heat.
- Inspect the cable, plug and charging socket. Do not use a lead with cuts, crushed insulation, a loose plug or signs of overheating.
- Connect the charger exactly as the supplied instructions specify, then connect it to the household outlet. Do not substitute a higher-voltage or “faster” charger.
- Leave the scooter undisturbed for the expected charging period. Avoid covering the charger or enclosing it in a box where heat cannot escape.
- When the indicator shows completion, switch off the outlet if the instructions call for that, unplug carefully and store the charger dry. If the battery becomes unusually hot, smells of solvent, swells or makes a noise, disconnect power only if it is safe and contact the seller or service centre.
Because no official battery-warranty document or charging standard is identified for these listings, obtain the warranty terms in writing. Confirm whether the warranty covers the battery separately, what cycle or time limit applies, and whether charging damage or water ingress is excluded.

What range can you realistically expect?
Start with the claimed figure, then create a reserve
The advertised 40 km, 60 km and 80 km figures are useful for distinguishing versions, but they are not a promise of a fixed road distance. For daily planning, calculate your round-trip distance and add a reserve. A conservative starting point is to plan to use no more than about 70–80% of the claimed figure until you have observed your own scooter over several weeks. That is a planning rule, not a manufacturer rating.
For example, a 24 km round trip is 40% of a 60 km claim. It leaves more room for detours, traffic and battery ageing than a 35 km round trip, which uses almost 60% of that claim before any reserve. A 30 km daily route may be comfortable on a genuinely performing 60 km scooter but could be restrictive on a 40 km version if charging is not available at work. An 80 km label should not be selected solely to avoid charging if the listing, battery and local support cannot be verified.
Conditions that reduce distance
- Rider and cargo weight: More mass requires more energy to accelerate and climb.
- Hills and rough surfaces: Inclines, broken roads and frequent starts consume more energy than a flat, steady route.
- Speed and riding style: Sustained high speed, rapid acceleration and hard braking reduce efficiency.
- Traffic: Stop-and-go riding can use more energy than a continuous trip of the same length.
- Weather: Heat can increase battery stress; cold can temporarily reduce available capacity. Wind and wet roads also increase resistance.
- Tyre pressure: Under-inflated tyres increase rolling resistance. Use the pressure specified by the manufacturer or printed on the scooter.
- Battery age and storage: Capacity normally declines with use and time. Leaving a lithium battery completely empty for long periods can make recovery difficult.
- Electrical accessories: Lights and other loads draw energy, although propulsion is usually the largest demand.
How to establish your own usable range
- Fully charge the scooter and record the odometer reading.
- Ride your normal route with your usual load and speed. Avoid deliberately riding unusually slowly just to produce a flattering number.
- Recharge at a consistent battery level for three to five comparable trips, recording kilometres and the charger’s completion time.
- Use the lowest repeatable result as your planning baseline, then retain extra margin for winter, hills or an unusually busy day.
This simple log is more relevant to a commute decision than a single catalogue number. If the route occasionally exceeds the baseline, arrange a charging point at the destination or choose a variant with more verified capacity.

The published 60 km calculation
ZigWheels’ 2026 calculator shows a 60 km range, a 1.34 kWh battery capacity, a cost of ₹0.15 per kilometre, ₹7 per day and ₹225 per month. Its assumptions are ₹6.5 per unit of electricity and 50 km of daily use. The monthly figure is the site’s published result; it is not a guaranteed household bill and should not be treated as a universal price.

- WORKS WITH EVERY NON-TESLA EV: Standard J1772 connector plugs straight into Ford, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Rivian, Lucid and every other EV or plug-in hybrid sold with a J1772 port - no adapter needed. Tesla drivers can charge too, using the J1772 adapter that comes with the car.
- PLUG IN, NO HARDWIRING: Level 2 charger delivers up to 40A to fully charge most EVs overnight. Plugs into a 240V, 4-prong NEMA 14-50 outlet (the RV/range type - NOT a dryer outlet) on a dedicated 50A circuit. The extra-long 25 ft cable easily reaches across a garage or driveway. Before ordering, check your car's port type and that you have the right outlet.
- CONTROL & SAVE FROM YOUR PHONE: A stronger built-in antenna keeps the charger online even in a garage or basement. Use the free app to start/stop charging, set speed (6-40A), get reminders, and track energy use and cost. Schedule off-peak overnight charging to cut your electric bill. Requires 2.4 GHz WiFi.
- SAFETY-CERTIFIED & WEATHERPROOF: Independently tested and certified (UL, ETL, FCC, Energy Star). A fully sealed IP66 / NEMA 4 housing stands up to rain, snow, heat and dust indoors or out, and internal steel shielding protects the electronics for years of reliable use.
- GLOW-IN-THE-DARK HOLSTER: The included high-visibility holster glows in the dark so you can find and dock the plug easily at night. Holds the connector securely when not in use.
The underlying arithmetic is straightforward:
Energy cost per kilometre ≈ (battery capacity in kWh × electricity tariff) ÷ usable kilometres.
Using the displayed 1.34 kWh and ₹6.5 per kWh gives ₹8.71 for the nominal energy in a full pack. Dividing by 60 km gives about ₹0.145 per kilometre, which rounds to the published ₹0.15. Real wall-to-battery charging also has losses, so the amount shown on your electricity meter can be higher. Tariffs, taxes, fixed charges and slab rates differ by utility and state.
Why another listing says ₹0.25 per kilometre
Evehicals states ₹0.25 per kilometre for its 40 km listing. That does not contradict the ZigWheels figure: the listings refer to different variants and do not disclose identical battery capacities, tariffs or test assumptions. Treat both as published calculations, not measured bills. The same Evehicals page separately states ₹0.20 per kilometre for its 80 km listing, again without a complete tariff and loss model.

The extra-long 25 ft cable easily reaches across a garage or driveway.
- HARDWIRED - PROFESSIONAL INSTALL: This Level 2 charger is hardwired (not plug-in), so a licensed electrician installs it per National Electrical Code. It delivers up to 48A on a dedicated 60A, 240V circuit - enough to charge most EVs fully overnight. Want more speed? You can set DIP switches 4 and 5 to unlock 50A on a dedicated 70A circuit. Before ordering, check your car's port type and that your electrical panel can support the circuit.
- CONTROL FROM YOUR PHONE: A stronger built-in antenna keeps the charger online even in a garage or basement. Use the free app to start and stop charging, set the charging speed (6-48A), get reminders, and track how much energy and money each charge uses. Requires a 2.4 GHz home WiFi network.
- Find the battery’s nominal kWh. If only volts and amp-hours are given, multiply them and divide by 1,000; 48 V × 26 Ah is 1.248 kWh nominal.
- Multiply kWh by your per-unit tariff to estimate the energy value of a full charge.
- Divide by the kilometres you can reliably obtain, not the most optimistic label.
- Multiply the result by your daily kilometres and then by the number of riding days. Add a modest allowance for charging losses if you want a wall-meter estimate.
As an illustration using the ZigWheels assumptions, 20 km per day at ₹0.15 per kilometre is about ₹3 per day, while 50 km per day is about ₹7.50 by direct multiplication. Your utility bill may differ because of rounding, charging losses, tariff slabs and the number of days ridden. The published ₹225 monthly result specifically belongs to ZigWheels’ ₹6.5-per-unit and 50-km-per-day scenario.

Choose by usable margin, not by the largest number. A 40 km version can be sensible when the round trip is short, the route is flat and overnight charging is guaranteed. A 60 km version provides more breathing room for detours and battery ageing. The 80 km option is only attractive after you confirm that the battery pack, charger, warranty, replacement cost and service network correspond to the advertised version.

Charging and range problems: symptoms and sensible responses
The scooter charges but range is suddenly low
Check tyre pressure, rider or cargo changes, route gradients and riding speed first. Confirm that the charger reaches its completion indication and that the charging socket is clean and tight. Compare several similar trips rather than one windy or congested day. If the decline persists, ask the service centre to test battery health and charger output; do not open a lithium pack yourself.
The charger never indicates completion
Stop using a damaged outlet or cable. Try a known-safe wall socket only if the manufacturer’s instructions permit it, and check whether the battery is excessively hot or swollen. Record the charger light behaviour and contact the seller. Using an unrelated charger can damage the battery and may void warranty coverage.
The scooter will not start after storage
Confirm that the main switch, battery connector and charge interlock are correctly engaged. If the battery was stored empty for an extended period, it may require professional assessment. Do not repeatedly force charging or bypass a fuse. Have the dealer check the battery management system and low-voltage cut-off.
Range is inadequate for the route
Do not rely on the dashboard percentage alone. Measure the route, reserve a margin and ask whether workplace or destination charging is permitted. If the daily distance regularly approaches the claimed range, move to a version with a verified larger battery or use another transport mode for the longest days.
Is the Green Sunny enough for daily use?
It can be, when “daily use” means short urban travel within the scooter’s practical range, with a reliable place to charge and access to local service. The 40 km version is most suitable for a short, repeatable route; the 60 km version offers more reserve; and the 80 km claim requires the most verification. None of the published figures proves performance on your hills, with your load or in your weather.
Before buying, write down the longest routine day, the round-trip distance, the steepest section, your normal load and where the scooter will charge. Compare that requirement with a conservative usable range, not the headline number. Then confirm the exact battery and charger on the invoice, obtain warranty terms in writing and check that a service centre can support the scooter locally. Those steps matter more than a difference of a few paise in a seller’s running-cost estimate.
