Goodyear’s SightLine is a tire-intelligence platform designed to send information about tire health and road conditions to vehicle or fleet systems. It is not a feature included in every Goodyear tire or every car. Goodyear currently lists availability for light cargo van fleets, autonomous systems, and select original-equipment vehicles, without naming specific models or markets.
What tire intelligence and Goodyear SightLine mean
Tire intelligence uses information about a tire and its interaction with the road to help vehicle or fleet systems make decisions. Goodyear describes SightLine as its tire-intelligence platform: connected tire data is intended to help monitor tire condition and inform vehicle systems.
Goodyear says SightLine is designed to measure tire wear state, load, inflation pressure, and temperature, as well as report road conditions. The idea is useful because tires are the vehicle’s contact with the road, but the platform’s practical value depends on the sensors, software, vehicle integration, and service in use. The company’s SightLine overview describes the platform and its availability categories.
What the Goodyear partnerships are working on
At CES 2024, Goodyear described four distinct collaborations. They represent different applications and stages of work—not four features that automatically come with a tire purchase.

| Partner | Application described | Evidence and availability |
|---|---|---|
| TNO | Research into using tire-specific information, including tire type and wear state, in anti-lock braking systems (ABS). | GamesBeat reported collaborative research and testing that showed the potential for a braking-distance reduction. This is a reported test result, not a general consumer-vehicle outcome. |
| ZF | Integrating SightLine with ZF’s cubiX vehicle-motion-control software. The announced capabilities included early detection of partial hydroplaning and speed recommendations; for more severe hydroplaning, the system could direct chassis actuators to help stabilize the vehicle. | Announced integration and described capabilities; not evidence that the feature is standard across vehicles. |
| TDK | Exploring integrated intelligent hardware and software for tires and vehicle systems, drawing on TDK’s sensor and electronics experience and Goodyear’s tire expertise. | Technical exploration and market research were described at the time; no resulting retail accessory is established. |
| Gatik | Using tire-intelligence information in autonomous-vehicle applications and fleet operations. | Goodyear later said the companies shared tire and road-condition data in early 2024 to inform Gatik’s autonomous-vehicle controllers. |
The partner descriptions and test figure were reported in GamesBeat’s CES 2024 coverage. Goodyear’s later 2023 Corporate Responsibility Report adds detail on the Gatik work.
What the TNO braking result does—and does not—show
GamesBeat reported that Goodyear and TNO’s collaborative testing showed the potential to reduce braking distance by 5.75 feet when tire-specific information was incorporated into ABS. That figure belongs to the reported research and testing. It is not a guaranteed reduction for a particular car, road, speed, tire, or braking event, and it does not establish a general crash-reduction rate for SightLine.

Can tires detect hydroplaning?
Goodyear’s announced ZF collaboration described using tire intelligence to identify partial hydroplaning early and provide speed recommendations. For more severe hydroplaning, the described integration could direct vehicle chassis actuators to help stabilize the vehicle. These are capabilities described for the collaboration, not proof that any tire independently prevents hydroplaning or that the functions are available in every ZF-equipped vehicle.
Which vehicles have Goodyear SightLine?
Goodyear’s current overview lists SightLine as available for light cargo van fleets, autonomous systems, and select original-equipment vehicles. It does not name supported vehicle models, model years, or countries. The available information therefore does not support a consumer-car fitment list.

For a specific vehicle, ask Goodyear or the vehicle manufacturer whether SightLine is supported in that market and configuration. A partnership announcement, research result, or ordinary Goodyear tire purchase alone does not establish that a car has the platform.

Goodyear’s 2023 Corporate Responsibility Report set a goal of delivering data- and sensor-enabled intelligence in all new products by 2027. That is a corporate target stated in the report, not confirmation that the goal has been achieved. Goodyear’s current public overview still describes availability by category rather than naming all supported products or vehicles.
