The Goliath G-47 is a compact off-road camping trailer that pairs a 4.7-metre (15.4-foot) footprint with a reported dry weight of 1,150 kg (2,535 lb), independent suspension and a rear outdoor kitchen. New Atlas described its unusual profile as “hammer-drop”; Goliath calls it a teardrop. Its equipment list is substantial for a small trailer, but the published specifications are a 2024 report, not independent test results or a current factory specification.
What is the Goliath G-47?
The G-47 is a teardrop-sized camper trailer from Australian maker Goliath Campers. New Atlas’s July 23, 2024 feature called it a “hammer-drop” because of its hammer-like outline, while noting that Goliath classifies it as a teardrop. That label describes the shape, not a standardized trailer category.
The report presents the G-47 as a compact but substantial off-road trailer: 4.7 m (15.4 ft) long and 1,150 kg (2,535 lb) dry. Those figures come from New Atlas’s product report, which credits Goliath for the product information; they have not been independently verified here. Read the New Atlas G-47 report.
How is it equipped for rough terrain?
New Atlas reports a powder-coated steel chassis, twin-shock Cruisemaster independent suspension and 35-inch mud-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels. The foam-core fiberglass body is described as carrying a stone-resistant Raptor coating. Reported ground clearance is up to 60 cm (23.5 in).

These specifications indicate the kind of hardware Goliath emphasizes, but they do not establish how the trailer performs on a particular route. Ground clearance alone cannot tell you whether the trailer, its tires or its suspension suit your terrain, tow vehicle or loading plan.
What is inside the cabin and outside shower?
The sleeping cabin is reported to have a double bed occupying the floor, an opening stargazing hatch above the pillows, an automatic temperature-controlled fan and multicolor mood lighting. A Kicker stereo and 30-L under-bed refrigerator drawer were described as available features, rather than equipment to assume is included on every unit.
For washing, a flip-up side panel forms an outdoor shower area with a rainfall shower head. A drop-down privacy tent was also listed as available. Ask for the exact build sheet to confirm which convenience features and privacy equipment are fitted to the trailer being offered.

What are the galley and water specifications?
The rear “open and cook” galley is a central part of the layout. With the sink cover folded down, New Atlas gives the counter’s working area as 160 by 60 cm (63 by 24 in). A swing-out worktop adds another surface and is described as able to hold a Weber portable grill; the report does not identify a grill model or establish universal fit.
Other reported galley equipment includes a 65-L upright fridge/freezer, a two-burner induction cooktop, custom wine and spice racks, and 300 L of drawer and cabinet storage. The sink is connected to a diesel hot-water heater and a 170-L fresh-water tank. These are reported capacities and features, not evidence of how long the water or power lasts under a particular owner’s usage.
What off-grid power does the G-47 have?
The 2024 report lists two 150-Ah gel batteries, a 2,000-W inverter and a 200-W solar blanket, managed through Redarc Red Vision. It says the system and its app can monitor electrical hardware and control selected equipment, including lights, refrigeration, television and audio, depending on the build.

The article does not give usable battery capacity, expected runtime by appliance, recharge time or a tested off-grid duration. Those details matter more than headline capacity when estimating whether the system will meet your needs. Request the current electrical specification and ask how it accounts for battery chemistry, inverter loads, solar conditions and optional equipment.

The reported 1,150-kg figure is dry weight, not a loaded travel weight. It does not include a definitive account of how options, water, food, gear and other cargo affect the trailer on a trip. Nor does the report establish compatibility with any particular vehicle.

- Compare the trailer’s current tare and loaded weights with your vehicle’s rated towing capacity and towball download limit.
- Check the vehicle’s payload after accounting for passengers, luggage, accessories and the trailer’s imposed load.
- Confirm the trailer’s current plated ratings and required hitch, braking and electrical connections with the seller and your vehicle manufacturer.
- Allow for the effect of carrying water and trip equipment; do not use dry weight as your expected towing weight.
Use the ratings for your specific vehicle and trailer rather than assuming that a compact length makes the G-47 suitable for every SUV or 4WD.

How much does the G-47 cost, and is it available?
New Atlas reported a new-model listing at AU$69,500 in July 2024, with options advertised through a Caravan Camping Sales listing. That is a historical listing price, not a current quote. Current price, stock, warranty, dealer coverage and delivery terms are not established by the cited report. Contact Goliath or a current dealer for an up-to-date written quote and a build sheet that identifies standard equipment and options.
What should you check before comparing it with other campers?
The G-47’s reported feature set is useful for shortlisting, but a fair comparison needs details that are not provided in the 2024 report. Compare competing trailers on the same measures before drawing conclusions about value or capability.
