The transition capability is the appeal, but it does not mean every shoreline or lake is suitable for a launch.
What is the Gibbs Biski?
The Biski is the Gibbs vehicle that fits the description “amphibious motorcycle.” It has two wheels, handlebar steering and one listed seat. Gibbs describes it as a High Speed Amphibian (HSA) and specifies a custom dual-jet marine propulsion system. In practical terms, it is intended to move between land travel and water propulsion rather than requiring a separate boat for the water portion.
Gibbs’ undated Biski product page lists a 55 hp, two-cylinder petrol engine, a 20 L fuel capacity, 228 kg curb weight and 150 mm ground clearance. These are manufacturer-listed figures, not independently verified measurements.
How fast is it on land and water?
Gibbs lists the Biski at 80 mph on land and 37 mph on water. It also claims a transition from land to water in under five seconds and a time to plane of under three seconds. The company’s page does not state the conditions behind those figures, so they should be read as specifications rather than guaranteed real-world speeds or timings.

“Ride straight into the lake and out again” captures the concept, not a promise that any entry point will work. The product information does not establish which shorelines, water conditions or launch sites are appropriate. A rider would need to consider the specific access point and waterway rather than assume the transition feature removes those constraints.
How does the land-to-water system work?
Gibbs describes its HSA engineering as a combination of powertrain, hull, water jet and suspension. Its HSA Technology page says the vehicles use one engine for land and water propulsion: in marine mode, the system drives the water jet while disengaging wheel drive. The company also identifies wheel retraction and the hull-and-jet arrangement as elements of the design.

Gibbs says its HSA work began in 1994 and lists the Aquada (2003), Humdinga (2005), Phibian (2012), Quadski (2013) and Quadski XL (2014) as milestones on its company history page. Those dates are company-reported history, not independent assessments of the vehicles.
Biski, Quadski and Aquada are different vehicles
Gibbs has used its amphibious technology across several vehicle types, but their shapes and roles are not interchangeable. The Biski is the motorcycle; the Quadski is an ATV and personal-watercraft hybrid; and the Aquada is a three-seat amphibious car.

Can you buy a Gibbs amphibious motorcycle now?
The available Biski product page does not confirm current sales or inventory, so it is not enough to establish that a new one can be ordered. The Quadski’s status is clearer: Gibbs says production has ended, all units are sold, and no new vehicles are available. Its support page says parts and service remain available through service agents; Gibbs is not appointing new dealers or taking Quadski orders. The company’s Quadski About page gives that production and support information.

The Aquada is also no longer in production, according to Gibbs; the company says a small number were made available to collectors. These distinctions matter if you are looking for an actual vehicle rather than exploring the technology: historic production or a specifications page does not establish that a model is currently for sale.

Gibbs’ safety guidance is published for the Quadski, so it should not be treated as a complete Biski operating manual or as a substitute for local rules. For Quadski operators, the company recommends ATV and personal-watercraft training and appropriate safety gear; it warns against operating under the influence, overloading the vehicle, and operation by anyone under 16.

The cited guidance does not name a Biski-approved personal flotation device or establish requirements for a particular jurisdiction. Anyone considering water use should confirm the right life jacket or PFD fit and check the applicable local requirements before operating.
What the official record does—and does not—establish
Gibbs’ published material establishes that the Biski is a two-wheeled amphibious motorcycle and records the company’s performance claims and description of its propulsion system. It does not provide independent test conditions for the headline speeds or transition times, and the product page does not establish current Biski availability or universal suitability for a given lake or shore.
