The tracked Genesis GV60 Mountain Intervention Vehicle (MIV) is a rescue-support concept, not a production SUV or a proven alpine rescue vehicle. New Atlas described its equipment and intended role on January 30, 2025, but reported no field deployment, rescue outcomes, or independent testing.
What is the Genesis GV60 MIV?
The MIV is a concept adaptation of the production Genesis GV60 electric SUV, proposed for supporting rescue teams in difficult terrain and weather. Its tank-like tracks are the most visible change, but the idea also includes equipment for communications, supplies, and assistance at a scene.
The headline phrase “last chance” should not be read as evidence that the vehicle has carried out high-alpine extrications. The available report describes a proposed role, not an operational rescue record.
How the MIV concept differs from a production GV60
| Category | Tracked GV60 MIV concept | Production GV60 |
|---|---|---|
| Sale status | New Atlas reported it as a concept that would not be mass-produced or offered for sale. | A production electric SUV; New Atlas reported a U.S. price of $52,350 on January 30, 2025. That is a historical figure, not current pricing. |
| Mobility and exterior | Reportedly fitted with snow tracks, carbon-fiber wheel-arc extensions, tow hooks at both ends, and a roof-mounted light bar. | The standard on-road GV60; the report does not provide a directly comparable equipment list. |
| Rescue-support equipment | Reported features include a trunk-mounted drone kit, roof rack for emergency supplies, emergency communications and warning systems, medical supplies, and modified sports seats. | The report does not establish these as equipment on the production model. |
| Performance evidence | No independent field test or rescue performance data reported. | New Atlas gave GV60 figures of up to 429 horsepower and up to 294 miles (473 km) of range; it attributed the range to EPA estimates for on-road models, not tests of the tracked concept. |
What equipment is described?
Tracks and exterior protection
The concept’s snow tracks are intended to help it traverse challenging conditions. New Atlas also describes carbon-fiber extensions around the wheel arches, presented as protection for bystanders from debris. Those stated aims do not establish how the vehicle performs or how much protection the parts provide in practice.

Supplies, visibility, and recovery
A roof rack is intended to carry emergency supplies, while tow hooks at the front and rear and a bright roof light bar are part of the reported concept package. The article also lists a trunk-mounted drone kit. It does not give specifications for the drone or the recovery equipment.
Communications, navigation, and power
The reported cabin equipment includes emergency communications and warning systems, medical supplies, and modified sports seats. New Atlas names a Garmin GPS Map 276Cx for position tracking without a data connection; that product mention is not evidence that this specific device is required for rescue operations.

The concept is also reported to use the GV60’s vehicle-to-load (V2L) function to power external equipment through a special converter. The report does not identify the converter or state its output or equipment compatibility, so it does not establish what devices could be powered or for how long.
Do the GV60’s power and range figures apply to the tracked concept?
Not as demonstrated performance figures. New Atlas reports up to 429 horsepower and up to 294 miles (473 km) of range for the GV60, with the range attributed to EPA estimates for on-road models. Those figures are not results from testing a tracked MIV. The report provides no measured range for the concept in snow, on tracks, or while carrying rescue equipment.

Is the MIV comparable to a Bv206 or BvS10?
New Atlas says the concept drew influence from small-unit support vehicles, naming the Bandvagn 206 (Bv206) and BvS10. It does not provide a technical comparison. That reference supports describing an influence, not claiming that the GV60 MIV matches either vehicle’s mobility, payload, or rescue capability.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is known about real-world use?
The January 30, 2025 New Atlas report, which credits Genesis, describes the MIV as a concept and does not report deployment in alpine rescues, rescue outcomes, or independent field testing. Without that evidence, the vehicle’s intended equipment and purpose should not be treated as proof that it can reach a particular incident or safely perform an extraction.
