What new Honda models are coming?
Honda’s May 14, 2026 briefing describes a next-generation hybrid rollout, rather than naming a full slate of future cars. The company plans to begin launches in 2027 and introduce 15 next-generation hybrid models globally by the end of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2030. Honda Hybrid Sedan Prototype
Honda showed a hybrid sedan prototype and said it is scheduled to go on sale within two years of the May 2026 briefing. The announcement does not establish its retail name, price, full specifications, or exact launch date. It is a credible signal of a future sedan, but not yet a production-car buying comparison.
Acura Hybrid SUV Prototype
The Acura Hybrid SUV Prototype is the second named preview. Honda likewise gave a within-two-years sales window, without publishing a retail name or complete production specifications. Honda’s broader plan includes future hybrid SUVs, but the briefing does not identify all the models that will make up its 15-vehicle target.

Large North American hybrids planned for 2029
Honda says it plans to launch large-size, D-segment-or-above hybrid models in North America in 2029. The company has not named the vehicles. This is the clearest timing statement for a larger future hybrid category, not confirmation of a particular SUV, sedan, or nameplate.
Should you wait for Honda’s next-generation hybrid?
Waiting makes the most sense if you want to see Honda’s new hybrid system in a production vehicle and can tolerate uncertainty over model names, pricing, and exact arrival dates. Honda says the system is intended to deliver more than 10% better fuel economy and reduce hybrid-system costs by more than 30% compared with the system introduced in 2023. Those are Honda’s development targets, not independently measured results or guarantees for a particular model. Honda’s briefing also describes a newly developed electric AWD unit as part of its technical direction.

Honda also plans next-generation ADAS launches beginning in 2028, with an intended application to more than 15 models over five years. The company describes assistance with operations such as acceleration and steering along a route entered through navigation. Which future Honda plans apply to Japan, India, and China?
Japan: N-BOX EV and Vezel hybrids
Honda says it plans to introduce the N-BOX EV in Japan in 2028. It also plans next-generation hybrids in Japan, primarily SUVs, beginning in 2027; from 2028, the company says the all-new Vezel will be the starting point for vehicles using its next-generation hybrid system and ADAS. India: two unnamed vehicle categories
Honda plans to begin introducing India-focused strategic models in 2028 in two categories: vehicles under four meters long and mid-size vehicles. Which announced Honda EVs were cancelled?
Honda cancelled development and the planned U.S. market launches of the Honda 0 SUV, Honda 0 Saloon, and Acura RSX on March 12, 2026. The company cited a reassessment following slower U.S. EV market growth and said proceeding with production and sales in the current environment could lead to further long-term losses.
