Four source-backed names stand out in the 2025 performance-car news: the Ferrari 296 Speciale, Porsche 911 Carrera S, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and Maserati MCPURA. This is a retrospective selection, not a verified original “top 10” or a ranking: the available announcements do not establish a complete ten-car shortlist. It also spans different kinds of timing—one model-year 2025 car and three cars announced or presented during calendar 2025—so it is not a list of cars all confirmed to reach customers that year.
How this 2025 selection is defined
The selection includes four cars with official manufacturer announcements or presentations tied to 2025. The Porsche is explicitly a 2025 model-year car; Ferrari announced the 296 Speciale in April 2025, and Maserati presented the MCPURA in July 2025. Chevrolet announced the 2025 Corvette ZR1 in July 2024. An announcement or presentation date does not, by itself, establish customer-delivery timing or availability in every market.
The figures below are manufacturer-reported specifications or estimates, not independent test results. They are useful for distinguishing the cars, but they do not support a head-to-head performance ranking.

Ferrari 296 Speciale: a more focused plug-in hybrid berlinetta
Ferrari announced the 296 Speciale on 29 April 2025 as a special version of the 296 GTB. It is a mid-rear-engined plug-in hybrid berlinetta. Ferrari gives its combined powertrain output as 880 cv and says its aerodynamic solutions raise downforce by 20% compared with the 296 GTB.

Ferrari describes the car as a sharper, motorsport-influenced evolution. That is the manufacturer’s positioning, not an independent assessment of how it performs on road or track. The published 20% comparison is specifically against the 296 GTB, not against the other cars in this selection.
Porsche 911 Carrera S: the model-year 2025 choice
Porsche announced the Carrera S on 8 January 2025 as part of its 2025 model-year range. In its US-market announcement, the company specifies a 3.0-liter twin-turbo boxer engine producing 473 hp, paired with an eight-speed PDK transmission. The body styles are Coupe and Cabriolet.

Within Porsche’s lineup, the Carrera S sits between the Carrera and Carrera GTS. The 473 hp figure belongs to Porsche’s US-market announcement; it should not be treated as a specification for every market without checking the relevant regional model details.
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1: GM’s 1,064-hp claim
General Motors announced the 2025 Corvette ZR1 on 25 July 2024. Its release specifies a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 rated at 1,064 hp and 828 lb-ft of torque, with Coupe and Convertible body styles.

GM gives a track top speed above 215 mph as an estimate. That is a manufacturer estimate, not an independently verified test result, and it is not a promise of a speed achievable in ordinary road use.
Maserati MCPURA: a 2025 Goodwood debut
Maserati presented the MCPURA at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2025, describing it as a new super sports car and an evolution of the MC20 halo car. The company’s press material identifies a 3.0-liter, 90-degree twin-turbo V6 and covers both Coupe and Cielo convertible forms.

The cited Maserati material does not state an engine-output figure for the MCPURA. That makes a power comparison with the Ferrari, Porsche and Chevrolet figures above incomplete; it is better to leave the value unstated than infer one.

The cars represent different approaches: Ferrari’s is a plug-in hybrid, while the cited specifications identify combustion engines for Porsche, Chevrolet and Maserati. Their figures also describe different things: engine or combined output, torque, aerodynamic downforce and a manufacturer-estimated track speed. Those measurements cannot be collapsed into a meaningful single ranking by horsepower alone.

Nor does the selection establish which cars were available to order or delivering to customers in a particular country during 2025. For that, buyers need region-specific manufacturer or dealer information. The announcements establish the stated reveal or model-year timing, not universal inventory or delivery dates.
