Those dates have passed, so check the current store listings for availability. The game’s Japan map is described by Playground Games as the largest in the series, but no official total area in square miles or square kilometres has been published. Its confirmed five-times size comparison applies only to Tokyo City versus Forza Horizon 5’s Guanajuato.
When did Forza Horizon 6 come out?
Playground Games announced a May 19, 2026 release for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Premium Edition early access beginning May 15. Its January 22 announcement also said the PlayStation 5 version was planned for later in 2026. Because these announced dates are now in the past, they do not establish whether the game is currently available on a given platform or in a particular region. Check the relevant live store listing for current status.
The Xbox Ireland listing names Playground Games as developer, Xbox Game Studios as publisher, and lists Xbox Series X|S and Windows 10/11. The official FAQ said Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members could play on May 19 at no additional cost under those plans. Current subscription and platform terms may have changed since the announcement.
How big is the Forza Horizon 6 map?
The total playable area has not been officially quantified in the reviewed announcements. Playground Games calls it the largest map in Horizon yet; the April 8, 2026 map reveal describes it as the series’ most dense and vertical map. Those are qualitative descriptions, not an area measurement. No official figure in square kilometres, square miles, or acres is given, so a map-image estimate should not be presented as confirmed.

What the five-times comparison means
Playground Games says Tokyo City is five times larger than Guanajuato in Forza Horizon 5. That comparison is specifically about the two urban areas. It does not mean the whole Forza Horizon 6 map is five times the size of Forza Horizon 5’s map.
What is in the Japan map?
The setting is Japan, with the reveal showing a journey from Tokyo City to the snowy Japanese Alps. Playground Games highlights a mix of urban and rural, modern and traditional scenery, with seasonal variety. The named routes include city roads inspired by Tokyo’s C1 loop and Gingko Avenue, as well as mountain passes such as Mt. Haruna and Bandai Azuma.

The scale claims describe different things: the overall world is called the largest Horizon map yet; Tokyo City has a specific comparison with Guanajuato; and density and verticality describe how the world is designed. None supplies a confirmed total driveable-area statistic.
