What changed in Michigan’s incentive offer?
BlueOval Battery Park Michigan is Ford’s planned lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery plant in Marshall, Michigan. Ford said in 2024 that Michigan had revised its incentive offer to match the project’s reduced scope. Ford’s announcement confirmed the reason for the revision but did not give the before-and-after dollar amounts: Ford’s June 2024 announcement.
The specific comparison comes from TechTimes, which reported on July 9, 2024, that projected public incentives had declined from approximately $1.03 billion to $409.1 million: TechTimes’ July 9, 2024 report. Subtracting those reported figures gives a decrease of about $621.9 million, or approximately 60% of the earlier projection.
Those numbers should not be read as a record of a payment, a final award balance, or funds Ford has already received. The sources cited here do not establish the amount disbursed or what incentive support remains available today.

TechTimes described the incentive revision alongside a smaller project plan. The original and revised figures below are reported plans, not confirmation of final construction capacity or actual employment.

What Ford reported about the plant in 2026
In a June 17, 2026 update, Ford said the Marshall site had more than 500 employees, planned to reach 800 by year-end, and retained a longer-term goal of 1,700 American jobs. These are company-reported staffing figures and targets, not independently verified totals. Ford also said the facility was on track to ship LFP batteries in 2026 for a future affordable midsize electric truck; that statement was a production plan, not confirmation that shipments subsequently began. In September 2026, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy criticized Ford’s use of CATL-licensed technology at the Marshall facility. That later federal criticism concerns technology and strategic dependencies; it is separate from Michigan’s 2024 decision to revise the state incentive offer. It does not establish why the state changed its offer. The Department of Transportation’s statement is available at the department’s September 8, 2026 announcement.
