Ford has filed to protect the MACH 4 name for vehicle-related goods, but the filing does not confirm a four-door Mustang—or any production vehicle. The U.S. application covers several types of vehicles, and the official records do not identify a model, body style, powertrain or launch plan.
What Ford’s MACH 4 trademark filing actually says
Ford Motor Company filed U.S. trademark application 99055118 on February 25, 2025. In the USPTO record, the application was published on September 30, 2025, followed by a Notice of Allowance dated November 25, 2025. The displayed status remained “LIVE/APPLICATION/Under Examination” in the record generated October 7, 2026; its latest listed event says Ford received a first extension of time to file a Statement of Use on April 2, 2026. A Notice of Allowance and an extension are steps in the trademark process, not an announcement that a vehicle has been approved or will reach showrooms. The filing’s goods description is broad: “motor vehicles, namely gasoline and electric automobiles, pick-up trucks, sport utility vehicles and their structural parts.” It does not name the Mustang or specify a body style, drivetrain, market or launch date.
Ford also filed for MACH 4 in Canada
Canada’s Trademarks Journal, Vol. 73 No. 3727, published April 1, 2026, lists Ford as the applicant for MACH 4 under application 2,382,019. The filing date is February 25, 2025, and the record lists a Jamaican priority filing date of August 27, 2024. Its goods description likewise covers gasoline and electric automobiles, pickup trucks, SUVs and structural parts—not a specified Mustang model. Canadian Trademarks Journal

The Canadian filing shows Ford sought name protection in another market. It does not establish that a vehicle bearing the name is planned for Canada or anywhere else.
Why the name is being linked to a four-door Mustang
Automotive reports have connected MACH 4 to longstanding speculation about a four-door Mustang, citing alleged information from a dealer meeting. That connection is an interpretation of reporting, not a Ford product announcement. Automotive report Related coverage

The name may invite speculation, but the trademark records cannot settle it. They do not say whether MACH 4 is intended for a Mustang, another Ford vehicle or no production vehicle at all. They also do not confirm a four-door body, gasoline, hybrid or electric power, or a release schedule.
What the Argentine vehicle listing does—and does not—show
An Argentine national vehicle valuation schedule effective March 1, 2026, includes a row labeled “FORD MUSTANG MACH 4” and “RURAL 5 PUERTAS.” The document does not explain the entry. Without corroboration, it is an unexplained administrative listing—not proof that Ford has launched or approved a five-door Mustang. Its significance and origin remain unclear. What would confirm a new Mustang
A Ford announcement or other reliable product information would need to identify the intended model and clarify its body style, powertrain, markets and timing. Until then, the established facts are trademark activity and broad vehicle-related goods descriptions; the four-door Mustang remains speculation.
