Ford’s electric SuperVan 4.2 completed the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:48.393 on 5 August 2025, with Romain Dumas at the wheel. It is a remarkable van-category benchmark, not the circuit’s outright lap record: the Nürburgring lists the SuperVan as a prototype/pre-production vehicle, and faster laps appear in other categories.
What was the SuperVan 4.2’s Nürburgring lap time?
The official listed time is 6:48.393. Romain Dumas set it on 5 August 2025 over the full 20.832-kilometre Nordschleife. The Nürburgring’s official records list the Ford Transit SuperVan 4.2, driver, time and date.
Ford described the result as a van lap record. That is a category claim, not an overall Nürburgring record. The circuit’s list includes faster times, including a 6:43.482 lap by the Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck, also driven by Dumas on 5 August 2025. The SuperTruck is a separate prototype, not another SuperVan run.
What kind of vehicle set the time?
The SuperVan 4.2 is an all-electric, bespoke concept demonstrator—not a production Transit sold to consumers. The Nürburgring describes it as producing around 2,000 PS; Ford calls it a 2,000-horsepower electric demonstrator. Those are approximate manufacturer and circuit descriptions of a purpose-built vehicle, not specifications for a road-going van. The Nürburgring’s event report identifies the vehicle as a concept.

How the official Nordschleife timing works
The Nürburgring’s record procedure uses the full 20.832-kilometre lap, with the official start and finish line in section T13 and a flying start. The circuit says official attempts use calibrated timing and notarial supervision. Prototypes, special vehicles and concept cars do not require series-production verification under the procedure. So the SuperVan’s time was officially recorded, but the timing does not mean the vehicle was certified as an ordinary production van.

When Ford published its account in August 2025, it called the SuperVan’s lap the ninth-fastest timed vehicle lap. That was Ford’s ranking at publication, not a current position: the Nürburgring’s live record list has since changed. Ford’s article also frames the demonstrator’s purpose through F1 and Demonstrators Program Manager Michael Norton, who wrote, “This is our chance to see what is possible far beyond any rule books for any race series.” That statement explains the program’s ambition; it is not a measured performance claim.
For comparisons, vehicle category and verification matter. The SuperVan is recorded among prototypes/pre-production vehicles, while production-car records have different requirements. A lap time alone does not make those entries like-for-like.
