Inspect the paint in less visible areas when authenticity matters. Compare the color inside door jambs, under the hood and in the trunk opening with the exterior. Those checks can reveal a repaint or wrap, but they do not replace factory documentation. Ask the seller for the original window sticker, order records, build sheet or other factory paperwork that identifies the Heritage package. If the paperwork is missing, describe the car as appearing Heritage-spec rather than treating appearance alone as proof.
What stripes came on the 2022 GT500 Heritage Edition?
Painted over-the-top stripes
Ford offered painted over-the-top racing stripes in Wimbledon White. Painted stripes are integrated into the finish rather than applied as a removable film. They can be polished and repaired like paint, but a future refinish may alter their edges, color match or factory appearance.
Vinyl over-the-top stripes with a side stripe
The second choice used Wimbledon White vinyl over-the-top stripes and added a unique vinyl side stripe carrying a GT500 logo. Vinyl can be replaced, removed or damaged, so the presence of stripes on a used car does not prove that the original treatment is still fitted. Check for lifting edges, shrinkage, mismatched gloss and remnants of removed graphics.

Is the GT500 Heritage Edition faster?
There is no documented Heritage-only performance increase in the cited factory material. Ford’s Heritage announcement concentrates on paint and stripes, and the 2022 technical specification document does not provide a side-by-side Heritage-versus-standard mechanical comparison. What the 1967 reference does—and does not—mean
The package honors the original 1967 Shelby GT500. Ford’s announcement uses that history to explain the color and stripe theme, not to suggest that the 2022 car shares the older car’s hardware. The original Shelby’s modified 428-cubic-inch V8 belongs to the historical background and should not be presented as a specification of the 2022 Heritage Edition.

Ford said Heritage Edition orders would open on November 15, 2021, with vehicles on sale in spring 2022. Those dates describe the original launch schedule. Should you choose a Heritage Edition?
Choose the Heritage package when appearance and documented history matter most

Choose a standard GT500 when specification or condition is better
