Short answer: The current U.S. Tesla Model Y Premium AWD has the highest listed range at 327 miles, while the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E Extended-Range Premium RWD is rated at 320 miles. Those are not equivalent configurations—the Tesla is all-wheel drive and the Ford is rear-wheel drive—so the seven-mile gap is not a general brand advantage. Tesla lists higher peak DC charging power (up to 250 kW on Premium and Performance versions), while Ford provides unusually specific home 0–100% examples. The quickest versions are tied at a manufacturer-claimed 3.3 seconds to 60 mph: the 2025 Mach-E GT with its available Performance Upgrade and the Model Y Performance.
The comparison below uses Ford’s U.S. 2025 Mach-E specifications and Tesla’s current U.S. Model Y page. Model-year labels, trims, wheels, test conventions and equipment differ, and the figures are manufacturer-published EPA estimates or performance specifications—not a matched independent road test.

At a glance: what the published specifications actually show
| Question | Ford Mustang Mach-E | Tesla Model Y | Fair interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Highest listed EPA-estimated range | 320 miles: 2025 Extended-Range Premium RWD | 327 miles: current Premium AWD | Different drivetrain and model-year/trim systems; do not treat seven miles as a universal winner. |
| Lowest listed range | 240 miles: 2025 Standard-Range eAWD | 294 miles: current AWD | Battery, drivetrain and configuration selection matter more than the badge. |
| Home charging information | Ford gives 0–100% examples with its Connected Charge Station: about 7.8 hours for Standard-Range RWD and 9.6 hours for Extended-Range Premium RWD. | No comparable full-charge home time is stated on the reviewed page. | These are equipment-specific examples, not a head-to-head charging test. |
| Maximum listed DC charging power | No comparable Mach-E peak figure is provided in the cited Ford material. | Up to 225 kW for standard versions; up to 250 kW for Premium and Performance. | Peak kW alone does not predict a complete session or road-trip stop. |
| Quickest published 0–60 mph | 3.3 seconds, 2025 GT with available Performance Upgrade | 3.3 seconds, Performance | Both claims apply to high-performance trims, not base cars. |
Ford’s full 2025 specification and charging details are on its 2025 Mustang Mach-E page. Tesla’s configuration-specific figures are on the current U.S. Model Y page.
Range: compare the exact trim, drivetrain and battery designation
Range is the easiest number to quote and the easiest to misuse. Ford’s page separates Standard-Range and Extended-Range batteries, rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (eAWD), and performance models. Tesla’s current page presents its own RWD, AWD, Premium AWD and Performance configurations. Because those naming systems do not line up one-for-one, select the configuration you would actually buy before comparing numbers.

2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E range
| 2025 Mach-E configuration | Ford-listed EPA-estimated range |
|---|---|
| Standard-Range RWD | 260 miles |
| Standard-Range eAWD | 240 miles |
| Extended-Range Premium RWD | 320 miles |
| Extended-Range eAWD Select or Premium | 300 miles |
| GT | 280 miles |
| Rally | 265 miles |
These are Ford’s EPA-estimated figures for the 2025 U.S. lineup. The 320-mile result belongs specifically to the Extended-Range Premium with RWD; adding all-wheel drive changes the listed result to 300 miles for the Extended-Range Select/Premium grouping. The GT and Rally are performance-oriented choices with lower stated range than the long-range Premium RWD.
Current Tesla Model Y range
| Current Model Y configuration | Tesla-listed EPA-estimated range |
|---|---|
| RWD | 321 miles |
| AWD | 294 miles |
| Premium AWD | 327 miles |
| Performance | 306 miles |
Tesla’s highest displayed figure is 327 miles for Premium AWD. Its RWD version is listed at 321 miles, which is one mile higher than the Mach-E’s 320-mile Extended-Range Premium RWD on the numbers alone, but the vehicles still use different trims and specifications. The AWD Model Y at 294 miles is below Ford’s 300-mile Extended-Range eAWD Select/Premium listing, while the Model Y Performance’s 306 miles exceeds the Mach-E GT’s 280-mile listing.
What the range numbers mean on a real trip
- An EPA estimate is a standardized comparison figure, not a promise that you will drive that distance from 100% to 0%.
- Cold weather, cabin heating or cooling, rain, wind, hills, high speed, payload, tire pressure, battery temperature and traffic can all change energy consumption.
- Wheel and tire choices can affect the certified result; verify the exact wheel configuration on the vehicle order or window sticker.
- Usable trip planning should include a charging buffer rather than assuming the final rated mile is available at your destination.
Neither manufacturer page establishes a controlled, same-day road test of the two vehicles. If your decision depends on winter or high-speed motorway range, treat the EPA figures as a starting point and check route-specific conditions.

Mach-E home charging examples
Ford says a Connected Charge Station can charge a 2025 Standard-Range RWD Mach-E from 0 to 100% in about 7.8 hours. Its Extended-Range Premium RWD example takes about 9.6 hours from 0 to 100%. These are Ford’s examples using that equipment, not a guarantee for every electrical installation.
Ford also identifies its Mobile Power Cord as another charging option. Portable-cord speed depends on the outlet and circuit selected, so a household should have the wiring evaluated before relying on a particular charging rate. A full charge from empty is an unusual daily routine; most owners plug in after driving and replenish a smaller amount overnight.
Model Y public charging figures
Tesla lists up to 225 kW of Supercharging for standard Model Y versions and up to 250 kW for Premium and Performance versions. It also lists 160 miles added in 15 minutes for the standard Model Y. Tesla qualifies that figure with the wording: Range added in 15 minutes is based on constant speed data.
That qualification means the number is a range-added estimate under a stated calculation method, not a guaranteed 15-minute road-trip result.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsActual DC charging power changes during a session as the battery fills. Battery state of charge, temperature, charger sharing, vehicle software, station condition and local limits can reduce the instantaneous or average rate. A car that briefly reaches 250 kW may still spend more total time at a station than a lower-peak vehicle with a favorable charging curve.

Ford public charging and network access
Ford describes access to the BlueOval Charge Network and says the integrated network includes Tesla Superchargers. Availability depends on the vehicle’s connector, the required adapter or equipment, station activation, location and current network policies. The cited Ford material does not provide a comparable Mach-E DC charging curve or a miles-added-in-15-minutes figure, so it would be misleading to declare one vehicle faster from peak-power data alone.
How to compare charging for your use
- Start with your parking location. Confirm whether you can install a 240-volt Level 2 circuit, what amperage the electrical service supports and where the cable can reach the parked vehicle.
- Estimate daily energy use. A driver covering 40 miles most days may need only a partial overnight refill, making the maximum DC rate less important than reliable home access.
- Map frequent long routes. Check station spacing, site opening hours, payment requirements and whether a compatible connector or adapter is needed.
- Compare the whole stop. Include time to navigate, queue, connect, charge and leave—not just the advertised peak kW.
- Leave a weather and traffic margin. Headwinds, cold batteries and a full station can turn a nominally short stop into a longer one.
Performance: the headline acceleration belongs to the top trims
Ford lists 3.8 seconds from 0 to 60 mph for the 2025 Mach-E GT and 3.3 seconds when the available GT Performance Upgrade is fitted. Tesla lists 3.3 seconds for Model Y Performance. Those are close manufacturer claims, but they describe the fastest versions in each range—not the affordable or longest-range configurations.
Mach-E acceleration spread
Ford’s 2025 figures show why trim selection matters: the Extended-Range RWD Premium is listed at 5.4 seconds, while the Extended-Range eAWD Select/Premium is listed at 4.2 seconds. The GT is quicker still, and the optional Performance Upgrade brings it to the 3.3-second claim. The Standard-Range models have their own specifications and should not be inferred from the GT number.
Model Y acceleration spread
Tesla lists 6.8 seconds for the current RWD Model Y and 4.3 seconds for both AWD and Premium AWD. The Performance version is listed at 3.3 seconds. That spread is larger than the difference between the two top trims, so a buyer choosing a non-Performance Model Y should compare it with a similarly equipped Mach-E rather than with the GT Performance Upgrade.

Why acceleration claims are not a complete driving comparison
- Manufacturers may use different launch procedures, test surfaces, tires, battery charge levels and rollout conventions.
- Acceleration performance can fall when the battery is cold or at a low state of charge.
- Performance tires, suspension tuning, brakes and traction systems affect cornering and stopping, not just the published 0–60 time.
- Extra performance equipment can reduce range, increase tire costs or change ride comfort.
Use the 3.3-second figures to identify the performance tier, not to predict an independently verified drag race between two specific vehicles.
Which vehicle has more range?
If you mean the highest number on each current manufacturer page, Tesla’s Model Y Premium AWD is listed at 327 miles, versus 320 miles for Ford’s 2025 Extended-Range Premium RWD. That is a seven-mile difference between an AWD Tesla and a RWD Ford. If you compare performance trims, the Model Y Performance is listed at 306 miles and the Mach-E GT at 280 miles. If you compare all-wheel-drive long-range entries, Ford’s 300-mile Extended-Range eAWD Select/Premium listing is higher than Tesla’s 294-mile AWD listing, although Tesla’s Premium AWD is rated at 327 miles.
The practical winner depends on the exact configuration, wheel choice, climate and route. Choose the battery and drivetrain first, then use the listed estimate to plan a charging margin.
Which charges faster?
There is no single answer from these published figures. Tesla provides the stronger stated public-charging specification: up to 250 kW for Premium and Performance Model Y versions, up to 225 kW for standard versions, and a 160-mile-in-15-minutes figure for the standard model with Tesla’s constant-speed qualification. Ford provides concrete home examples—about 7.8 or 9.6 hours from empty to full with its Connected Charge Station—but no comparable Mach-E peak-power or 15-minute figure in the cited material.

For a driver who charges mainly overnight, Ford’s stated home examples are more directly useful than a peak DC number. For frequent highway travel, station location, connector access and the complete charging curve matter at least as much as the advertised maximum.
Which is quicker?
The fastest published claims are a tie: 3.3 seconds to 60 mph for the 2025 Mach-E GT with the available Performance Upgrade and for Model Y Performance. The ordinary versions are slower: Ford lists 5.4 seconds for Extended-Range RWD Premium and 4.2 seconds for Extended-Range eAWD Select/Premium; Tesla lists 6.8 seconds for RWD and 4.3 seconds for AWD and Premium AWD.
Therefore, the Model Y Performance and Mach-E GT Performance Upgrade are the appropriate comparison for maximum acceleration. A long-range, non-performance buyer should compare the relevant midrange trims instead of paying for a headline number they will not receive.
Ownership decisions the specification table cannot answer
Home electrical capacity
A Level 2 station may require a dedicated circuit, professional installation and sufficient service-panel capacity. Ford’s “about 7.8 hours” and “about 9.6 hours” examples assume the specified Connected Charge Station and appropriate electrical supply. Tesla’s reviewed page does not establish a Model Y home-charge time, so installation quotes and the vehicle’s current charging equipment should be checked separately.
Public-network coverage
Ford’s BlueOval network description and Tesla’s Supercharger system provide different access arrangements that can change by region and over time. Verify current station coverage along the routes you actually drive, including connector compatibility and any adapter requirement.
Model-year and configuration changes
Ford has a separate current 2026 Mach-E page; its displayed range and 0–60 claims are model-specific. Tesla’s Model Y page can also update independently as configurations change. Always confirm the model year, battery designation, drivetrain, wheels and equipment in the current order documentation rather than carrying a number from an older listing into a new purchase.
A practical choice framework
| Your priority | Specification-based starting point | What to verify before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum listed range | Model Y Premium AWD at 327 miles; Mach-E Extended-Range Premium RWD at 320 miles. | Wheel configuration, current model year and real route conditions. |
| Long-range rear-wheel-drive efficiency | Mach-E Extended-Range Premium RWD at 320 miles; Model Y RWD at 321 miles. | Whether the available trims and equipment are genuinely comparable in your market. |
| All-wheel-drive range | Model Y Premium AWD at 327 miles; Mach-E Extended-Range eAWD Select/Premium at 300 miles. | Exact Tesla AWD version and Ford battery/trim designation. |
| Maximum acceleration | Mach-E GT with Performance Upgrade and Model Y Performance, both listed at 3.3 seconds. | Tires, battery state, launch conditions, ride and braking priorities. |
| Overnight home charging | Mach-E has Ford-published Connected Charge Station examples. | Electrical-panel capacity, installation cost, cable reach and daily mileage. |
| Frequent highway charging | Model Y page states up to 225–250 kW Supercharging, depending on version. | Station availability, queue risk, connector access and the full charging curve. |
Bottom line
The Ford Mustang Mach-E and Tesla Model Y are close only when you specify the configuration. Tesla’s current Model Y Premium AWD posts the highest listed range at 327 miles, while Ford’s 2025 Mach-E Extended-Range Premium RWD reaches 320 miles. Tesla publishes the higher peak DC charging figures, but Ford supplies clearer home full-charge examples. At the top of the performance range, both manufacturers claim 3.3 seconds to 60 mph. Select the drivetrain, battery, charging environment and route network that match your life; the largest number on either brand page is not, by itself, a complete verdict.
