1. Confirm that your truck has remote start
Look for the Remote Start button on the fob and consult the owner manual for the truck’s model year and equipment. Do not assume a missing button means the fob battery is dead. The feature and the exact command are equipment-dependent, and the 2024 sequence should not be applied blindly to another year.
2. Turn the in-vehicle feature on

Check the instrument display rather than relying only on a visual glance. A panel can look closed while its latch switch still reports an open condition. Likewise, selecting Park and switching the ignition off should be part of the same deliberate check, not an assumption based on where the truck was left.

Ford’s app support checklist says the cause of any Check Engine Light must be resolved before app Remote Start can be used. The light is also a reason to stop treating the problem as a simple fob issue. It does not identify a particular failed part; a diagnostic scan and appropriate repair are needed to determine the cause.
6. Compare the result with the indicators
Two flashes show that the 2024 command was entered in the expected way. A horn after the sequence is the manual’s failure signal. If there is no expected indication at all, recheck that the truck is equipped for remote start, that the fob has the correct button, and that you are following the manual for that model year. The Ford documentation does not establish a universal fob-battery replacement or another single part as the fix.
Ford app remote start: setup and failure checks
Verify eligibility and association
Ford says app remote start is available only when the vehicle is equipped for the feature, associated with the app, and fitted with an activated modem. Sign in with the Ford account that is associated with the truck. These checks are distinct: an activated modem still has to be enabled in the truck, and an enabled modem still has to be associated with the right Ford account. Resolve each item separately so that a successful fob test is not mistaken for proof that the connected service is configured.

Repeated failure after every interlock is corrected
If the setting is on, the truck is equipped, the fob sequence is correct, all openings are closed, Park is selected, the alarm is quiet, and battery voltage is not low, continued failure needs vehicle-side diagnosis. The manuals do not support a single universal reset or part replacement for every Maverick.
