How fast is a Ford GT from 0 to 60 mph?
2005–2006 Ford GT
Hagerty reports a 3.7-second 0–60 mph sprint for the first-generation GT and a top speed above 200 mph. Those are figures in Hagerty’s January 2024 valuation report, rather than a Ford technical-sheet claim cited here.
Later Ford GT
Ford’s May 2017 technical sheet gives the later GT a 0–97 km/h (0–60 mph) time of under three seconds. The sheet also lists a 60–0 mph braking distance of 91 feet (27.7 metres). Both are manufacturer-published specifications, not results from an independent test described in the document.

How much horsepower does a Ford GT have?
It depends on the generation. Hagerty describes the 2005–2006 GT’s supercharged V8 as producing 550 hp. Ford’s May 2017 sheet lists 647 SAE hp at 6,250 rpm for the later GT’s 3.5L twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6. Ford identifies its horsepower and torque values as U.S. figures and says European values were pending certification.
Ford also described the later GT as a technology-development effort, saying its 3.5-litre EcoBoost delivered 647 horsepower. That supports the connection Ford makes to its broader EcoBoost development; it does not make the two generations’ engines the same.
What else is on the later GT’s spec sheet?
- Torque: 550 lb-ft at 5,900 rpm, with the same U.S.-figure qualification on Ford’s sheet.
- Drivetrain: Rear-wheel drive with a limited-slip differential.
- Transmission: Seven-speed Getrag dual-clutch transaxle.
- Engine details: 3,497 cc displacement and a 9.0:1 compression ratio.
- Weight: 1,385 kg coupe dry weight.
- Braking: Ford lists 60–0 mph in 91 feet (27.7 metres).
These are figures from the May 2017 technical sheet, not a complete specification history for every model year or market.

How much does a Ford GT cost?
The cited records do not establish a current Ford GT price. They show two individual historical auction transactions recorded by Hagerty Valuation Tools:
| Car and sale | Recorded result |
|---|---|
| 2005 Ford GT; Barrett-Jackson, Scottsdale; January 29, 2022 | $495,000 |
| 2017 Ford GT; RM Sotheby’s; June 1, 2022 | $1,127,500 |
These are sale amounts for specific cars on specific dates, not asking prices, a market-wide average or a reliable quote for a car available today. Vehicle condition, mileage, specification, options and sale timing all matter when comparing collector-car prices. Hagerty’s January 2024 report also says first-generation GTs often sold above MSRP, while dealers were discounting some cars by the end of production in 2006; that historical context does not establish today’s value.
Sale records: 2005 Ford GT, VIN 1FAFP90S85Y400477 and 2017 Ford GT, VIN 2FAGP9CW7HH200109.

What should a first-generation Ford GT buyer inspect?
Hagerty flags reported concerns on early-production first-generation cars: electrical-system problems, suspension control-arm issues and engine main-seal oil leaks. The report does not establish that every car has these faults. A prospective buyer should have a qualified specialist inspect the specific vehicle and review its service and ownership records; the cited material is not a recall or service-bulletin audit.
Hagerty also notes options such as racing stripes, forged BBS wheels, painted brake calipers and an upgraded sound system, and says some 2006 cars had Gulf Blue and Orange Heritage paint. These examples are not a complete options list, but they illustrate why a car’s exact specification matters when comparing sale results.
