The camouflaged electric car spotted testing in Stuttgart in April 2024 was identified by DENZA as a newly developed luxury vehicle associated with BYD. DENZA did not give it a production model name, and its announced target of going on sale by the end of 2024 was a forecast—not confirmation that the car reached the market.
What was seen in Stuttgart
A report published by Gizmochina on April 6, 2024 described a camouflaged car undergoing road tests in Stuttgart, Germany. The report noted a streamlined silhouette, sloping roofline, frameless doors and concealed handles. What DENZA confirmed—and what it did not
In an announcement dated April 5, 2024, DENZA said a newly developed luxury vehicle had been tested on Stuttgart’s streets. It credited Wolfgang Egger with the design and described it as streamlined, with low wind resistance as an aim. DENZA called it its “newest co-branded DENZA” and used “Mercedes-Benz and BYD” in the announcement headline; that wording does not establish the precise engineering or ownership contributions of either company. Egger was quoted as saying: “The design is simultaneously spirited and deluxe.” The announcement forecast that the vehicle would go on sale by the end of 2024, but did not name a production model or provide a price, driving range, battery capacity, power output or performance figures.

Is it on sale now, and what is its model name?
The sources establish the vehicle’s identity only as a new luxury DENZA associated with BYD. They do not confirm whether the end-of-2024 sales forecast was met, what production name the car received, or whether it became available in Germany. The available information therefore does not support treating it as a currently purchasable German-market model.

BYD has announced separate production vehicles for Europe, including the SEAL and SEALION 7. Those are distinct named models; their specifications cannot be assigned to the unnamed Stuttgart test car. BYD’s SEAL announcement and BYD’s SEALION 7 announcement cover those separate vehicles.

Until the Stuttgart car’s production identity and market availability are established, there is no sound basis for a model-to-model specification or purchase comparison. Any comparison would need to use confirmed, like-market versions and verified production data rather than estimates from a camouflaged prototype.
