How much horsepower does the LaFerrari have?
Ferrari’s historical account gives the LaFerrari a combined output of 963 hp, from an 800 hp V12 and a 120 kW electric motor. Ferrari’s 2016 prospectus likewise reports 800 hp from the V12 and 963 hp combined, describing the battery as providing an additional 163 hp. These are manufacturer figures, not independent test results.
Ferrari’s March 5, 2013 launch release uses CV, not hp: it lists 800 CV for the V12 at 9,000 rpm, 120 kW (163 CV) for the electric motor, and 963 CV total maximum power. CV and hp are different units, so those launch figures should not be relabeled as horsepower. Ferrari’s launch release
How does the HY-KERS system contribute power?
The powertrain pairs a rear-wheel-drive V12 with electric assistance. Ferrari’s prospectus describes two electric motors and a special battery using cells developed by Scuderia Ferrari. It presents HY-KERS as a system designed to integrate the V12 and electric motor and allow rapid communication between them. The combined figure is the output Ferrari attributes to the system as a whole; it is not simply the V12’s rating.

Is the LaFerrari a mild hybrid?
“Mild hybrid” is not Ferrari’s classification in these official materials. Ferrari calls LaFerrari its first hybrid and describes its V12-plus-electric-motor powertrain as HY-KERS. Calling it a mild hybrid would therefore go beyond the terminology established by the cited Ferrari sources.

When was LaFerrari unveiled and built?
Ferrari unveiled the car at Geneva on March 5, 2013. That unveiling date is distinct from production: Ferrari’s 2016 prospectus says production began in the second half of 2015 and the first car was delivered in January 2016. The prospectus described a planned total production run of 499 cars; that is a stated plan, not confirmation of the final number produced.
