The February 2023 article and the November 2025 reports concern the same creator and Ferrari F8 model. They provide a coherent chronology, but they are not a court finding that every detail of the video and the tax allegation has been independently proven.
What the Ferrari bubble video actually shows
The Autopian’s account places the Ferrari inside a transparent, inflatable-style car storage bubble near the end of a WhistlinDiesel video. In the footage described by the article, ladders and other objects are thrown or dropped toward the enclosure and appear to bounce away. That is an observation about a video sequence, not a laboratory measurement of impact resistance.

Why the distinction matters
A viral clip can show that a particular enclosure deflected particular objects under particular circumstances. It cannot, by itself, establish a maximum impact force, a guaranteed puncture rating, protection from every kind of debris, or protection in every installation. The video also does not tell a buyer how long the bubble was inflated, whether it was installed exactly as a manufacturer requires, or what happened to the car afterward.
For a viewer, the practical takeaway is narrower: a bubble can create a physical separation between a parked car and casual bumps or falling items in a crowded space. The footage is useful as an illustration of that idea, but it should not be treated as a product certification or a repeatable test.
The storage problem hidden inside the spectacle
The same Autopian article raises the principal downside: moisture trapped inside an enclosure can encourage mold. A sealed-looking cover may keep dust and incidental contact away while also slowing the escape of humidity from a damp floor, wet vehicle, or humid garage. That trade-off is more important to long-term paint, trim, upholstery and odor control than the dramatic object-bouncing shots.

What a car storage bubble is—and when it makes sense
A car storage bubble is an enclosure designed to surround a parked vehicle, generally using an inflatable structure and a clear outer barrier. Its purpose is containment: keeping dust, light contact and some airborne or falling contaminants away from the car. It is not a substitute for a secure building, an alarm system or climate control.
The useful question is not whether a bubble is “strong” in the abstract. It is whether the enclosure solves the particular exposure in your garage without creating a worse humidity problem.

How to decide whether to use one
Use the following checklist before buying or inflating an enclosure. It is a decision process, not a claim that every bubble has identical construction or performance.

- Identify the exposure. Write down what you are trying to stop: people walking past the car, ladders falling, workshop dust, pets, children, sunlight or something else. A bubble is most defensible when the problem is incidental contact in a crowded garage.
- Check the room for moisture first. Look for roof or wall leaks, wet concrete, condensation and a vehicle that is routinely stored wet. Fix those causes before enclosing the car. Do not rely on a cover to dry the air.
- Measure the complete operating space. Account for the Ferrari’s length, width, door clearance, inflation equipment, power access and the space needed to walk around the enclosure. A tight installation can turn a protective barrier into an object that is constantly rubbed or snagged.
- Plan inspection access. Decide how you will check the floor, tires, battery, fluids and interior. A storage system that discourages regular inspection can hide a small leak, condensation or a developing odor.
- Set a realistic protection boundary. Treat the enclosure as a buffer against the kinds of minor contact shown in the video report, not as armor against sharp tools, major impacts, fire, theft or flooding.
- Compare the total cost. The Autopian wrote in 2023 that good car bubbles could cost more than $500. That was a contemporaneous secondary-source observation, not a current universal price. Check the current product, replacement parts, electricity needs and any required maintenance before treating that figure as a budget.
Why the legal story surfaced in 2025
Road & Track reported on November 15, 2025, that Cody Detwiler had been arrested after an indictment alleging tax evasion related to a January 2023 purchase of a 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo. The article says the arrest involved two counts. It reproduced this sentence as language from the indictment:

“did unlawfully and willfully attempt in any manner to evade or defeat any tax due the State of Tennessee in an amount of five hundred dollars ($500) or more, to-wit sales tax due on the purchase of a 2020 Ferrarii F8 Tributo”
The spelling “Ferrarii” and the punctuation above follow the wording reproduced by Road & Track. The $500-or-more figure is part of the alleged charge language. It is not proof that the state was owed that amount, that the purchase was improperly handled, or that Detwiler committed the offense.
Gray News, in a report carried by KKTV on November 14, 2025, also described an indictment in Williamson County. That report quoted an allegation that Detwiler and WhistlinDiesel, LLC “unlawfully attempted to evade or defeat any tax due to the state of Tennessee of $500 or more.” The two reports corroborate the basic public allegation and identify the Ferrari purchase, but neither establishes the truth of the charge.
Indictment, arrest and conviction are different events
An indictment is a formal accusation approved through the charging process. An arrest means authorities took the person into custody under that case. Neither event is a criminal conviction. The state would still have to prove the charged conduct under the applicable Tennessee process, and the defense could contest the allegations or reach another legal outcome.

However, the sources summarized here do not provide a vehicle identification number, title record or court exhibit linking the footage to the exact legal-case vehicle.
The careful wording is that the later reporting concerned a Ferrari F8 Tributo associated with Detwiler and that the earlier video showed his F8 in a storage bubble.
