BMW’s 2025 M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive is another fast, clearly model-year-specific option, with BMW claiming 3.4 seconds to 60 mph and a standard electronically limited 155 mph top speed. These are automaker figures, not results from a common independent test, so acceleration and top speed should be compared separately.
Fastest sedans of 2025: the documented figures
The table distinguishes acceleration from maximum speed and identifies each figure’s market, trim and source. Manufacturer claims are not directly equivalent to instrumented tests conducted under shared conditions.

Which sedan is quickest from 0–60 mph?
Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid
Among the model-year-specific 0–60 mph claims above, Porsche’s 2.8-second figure for the 2025 Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is the quickest. Porsche also calls it the most powerful production Panamera produced so far, a manufacturer description rather than an independent ranking. Its separate top-speed claim is 202 mph, which Porsche labels “top track speed.” Porsche’s 2024 announcement
BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive
BMW claims 3.4 seconds from 0–60 mph for the 2025 M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive. That is slower than Porsche’s published figure, but the two claims should not be treated as a controlled head-to-head: the reviewed specifications do not establish a shared test method or conditions. Lucid Air Sapphire: a different market and measurement
Lucid’s European MY2025 sheet lists 0–100 km/h in 2.0 seconds, not 0–60 mph. Those are different acceleration intervals, and the sheet also identifies a pending European type approval. It is useful as European-market context, but it cannot be inserted into a 0–60 mph ranking without changing the evidence. Lucid’s European technical sheet
Which 2025 sedan has the highest stated top speed?
The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid’s 202 mph top track speed is the highest top-speed figure among the directly model-year-specific entries in the table. BMW states an electronic 155 mph limit for the M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive, and 155 mph for the M340i xDrive when equipped with performance tires. These are maker-published specifications, not independently verified speeds from a common test. Porsche · BMW M3 · BMW M340i

Why the Lucid Air Sapphire needs a model-year caveat
Lucid’s current U.S. Air page advertises 1.89 seconds to 60 mph and 205 mph, but the model comparison shown on that page is for the 2027 lineup. Those figures therefore do not, by themselves, establish a 2025 U.S.-market specification. For MY2025, the cited Lucid source is a European technical sheet reporting 2.0 seconds to 100 km/h and 330 km/h. Keep the market, model year and acceleration measure attached to the numbers. Why some fast Maserati figures are not included
The reviewed Maserati U.S. page lists 178 mph and 4.7 seconds for the Ghibli Modena Ultima Q4, and 179 mph and 4.8 seconds for the Quattroporte Modena Ultima. It does not establish that these trims are 2025 model-year vehicles, so those numbers are not ranked as 2025 specifications here. Maserati Ghibli · Maserati Quattroporte

How these figures compare with an average new vehicle
As broad U.S. fleet context—not a sedan-only or model-year 2025 comparison—the EPA’s 2026 Automotive Trends Report says the average new vehicle in model year 2024 had a 0–60 mph time of 7.5 seconds. The EPA figure provides context for how quick the listed claims are, but it is not a direct comparison with these named sedans. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Automotive Trends Report

How to read “fastest” claims
- Acceleration and top speed answer different questions. A low 0–60 mph time describes how quickly a car accelerates over that interval; top speed describes its maximum stated speed.
- Keep the measurement intact. A 0–100 km/h time is not a 0–60 mph time, and Porsche’s “top track speed” wording should not be silently broadened.
- Check year and market. A current webpage may display a later model year, while a specification sheet may apply to one market only.
- Distinguish claims from tests. The figures here are automaker specifications. The cited sources do not provide a common-method independent comparison or enough evidence for a complete global ranking of every 2025 sedan.
