Bultaco’s published figures include up to 100 km of range in Eco mode, but those are claims rather than results from an independent range test. The available road ride is a journalist’s account from 2016, not a current test or indication that the Brinco S is still sold or supported.
Is the Brinco S a motorcycle or a bicycle?
It sits between those categories. Bultaco called the Brinco a “moto-bici”: an electric vehicle with bicycle-like independent pedaling as well as motor propulsion. The 2016 AUTOBILD.ES road test describes the motor in the rear wheel and a mechanical pedaling system that continues to work when the bike is switched off. Riders can pedal, use the motor, or combine the two. The June 2017 second-edition user manual also describes dual traction. Bultaco Cantabria’s Brinco S listing and the reproduced user manual provide the manufacturer-side description.
What makes the S the street-oriented version?
Bultaco Cantabria describes the S as the city-oriented configuration. Its listed setup includes 24-inch touring wheels with 2.35-inch road tires, a comfort seat, and a touring handlebar. The 2016 road-test author, Rodrigo Fersainz, likewise noted the road tires and longer mudguards, and said the seating position felt like a bicycle’s.
The published listing also specifies front and rear hydraulic disc brakes with 203 mm rotors, an adjustable front fork with 150 mm travel, a rear monoshock with 150 mm travel, a nine-speed transmission plus Overdrive, a 1,189 mm wheelbase, and a total length of 1,846 mm. These are specifications on the listing, not independent measurements from the road test.

What range, speed and charging figures are published?
Bultaco Cantabria lists a 2 kW maximum power output, a 1.3 kWh lithium-ion battery, and a maximum speed of 45 km/h for the “45” version. Its range figures are “up to” values by mode, not independently tested results; neither that listing nor the manual gives a controlled test protocol for them.

The manual warns that actual range varies with conditions, including terrain and how the rider combines pedaling and throttle. Treat the listed distances as manufacturer claims, not a promise of what a particular ride will deliver.

What does L1e homologation mean for road use?
Bultaco Cantabria’s listing says L1e homologation was offered in “45” and “25” variants. It describes the 45 km/h version as a moped and says an AM or B licence is required; its 25 km/h wording refers to countries that define a different moped category at that speed. Those statements are the listing’s description, not a universal guide to present-day road rules. Licensing, registration, equipment and category definitions depend on jurisdiction and can change, so check the rules where the vehicle would be used.
For context, the 2016 AUTOBILD.ES test discusses the Spanish-market homologated moped and lists equipment and paperwork requirements in that setting. It mentions lights, a mirror, horn, speedometer, registration plate, documents, insurance and a motorcycle helmet. Do not assume that its Spain-specific account applies elsewhere or remains current.

What did the 2016 road ride reveal?
Fersainz’s AUTOBILD.ES article, published on 18 October 2016, is a period ride report rather than a current evaluation. He describes controlled throttle acceleration in Eco mode and says he naturally started pedaling as he rode. The display, as he describes it, shows speed, battery level, instantaneous battery power, odometer, trip counters and the three riding modes.
He found the vehicle practical and entertaining in city riding, and considered Sport useful for quick starts. He also distinguishes the power-control feature from true speed-based cruise control: it maintains motor power, while speed can fall on an incline. His comments on acceleration and handling are one journalist’s impressions from that ride, not measured performance claims.

The same report says he could pedal beyond 45 km/h on level ground or downhill. That is an observation from the test, not a statement that exceeding the homologated limit is legal or appropriate. He also found the brakes adequate for the vehicle’s weight and momentum, while noting that they might feel modest to a motorcyclist and strong to an urban cyclist.

Bultaco Cantabria lists the Brinco S at 42.26 kg, and the 2016 road-test article reports the same figure. Fersainz says that mass was noticeable when pedaling with the battery exhausted. The pedals remain mechanically usable, but the test’s observation is a useful reminder that this is substantially heavier than a conventional bicycle; the source does not establish how far or easily a particular rider could pedal it without electric assistance.

What should an owner check before riding?
The undated Bultaco Brinco Quick Guide recommends checking tire condition and pressure before riding. For the Brinco S it gives 2.2 bar front and 2.5 bar rear. Confirm the tire, setup and manual for the individual vehicle before applying those values. The guide recommends a helmet, gloves and suitable riding equipment, and says not to carry passengers or luggage.
The June 2017 second-edition manual covers battery removal and charging and warns that range depends on conditions and riding style. It says power components should be handled by an official Bultaco dealer. The manual is a reproduced PDF; its wording does not establish a current service channel or current parts availability.
Who is the Brinco S likely to suit?
Its listed road tires, comfort seat and touring handlebar make the S the road-focused Brinco configuration described by Bultaco Cantabria. Whether it suits a particular buyer depends on local homologation and licensing rules, tolerance for a 42.26 kg vehicle, the gap between claimed and real-world range, and access to service and replacement parts. The available material does not establish current availability or provide an independent comparison with competing models.
