Lightning’s LS-218 is the fastest production electric motorcycle in the current manufacturer-sourced comparison. Its headline speed is a company claim, not an independently verified result in the sources available for this article. Energica, Verge, Zero and LiveWire offer lower top speeds, while Damon’s HyperSport remains a pre-production program rather than a motorcycle you can generally buy today.

Top speed is only one measure. Acceleration, charging time, range-test conditions, road approval, service support and delivery status can matter more for everyday riding.

Why the Lightning LS-218 leads the production ranking

Lightning says it debuted the LS-218 in 2015 as a superbike and describes it as the world’s fastest production motorcycle. The company also says the motorcycle set land-speed records exceeding its advertised speed. Those statements establish Lightning’s claimed position, but they do not substitute for an independent, repeatable test of a customer-delivered motorcycle.

#1 Best Overall
ESKUTE Electric Dirt Bike for Teens Adults, Electric Motorcycle 48V23Ah Battery, 53-Mile Range, 38-46mph Mid-Drive Motor 3500W Peak, Hydraulic Dual Shock Absorbers, Orange-black-With Lock
  • 3500W Peak Power & 220Nm Torque** - Unleashes rapid acceleration and conquers 35° off-road climbs with ease. Reaches 38-46mph top speed in seconds, delivering dirt bike-level performance for adult thrill-seekers.
  • 53-Mile Range & 48V 23Ah Battery** - High-capacity lithium battery supports continuous trail riding. Fast 6-hour full charge gets you back on the road overnight. Battery management system prevents overheat, overcharge, and short circuits.
  • Nitrogen-Filled Technology** - Prevents hydraulic oil from forming bubbles (cavitation) under high temperatures or continuous jolts, ensuring shock absorption performance remains unaffected after 5 hours of high-intensity off-road driving.Compared to conventional hydraulic dampers, it maintains 90% of performance during continuous use, preventing loss of control due to shock failure.
  • Dual Hydraulic Disc Brakes & Steel Frame** - Large front and rear brake discs deliver consistent stopping power in mud, water, and sand. Reinforced steel frame supports up to 265 lbs while maintaining agile handling.
  • TUV Certified & 1-Year Warranty** - Meets strict safety standards for electric bicycles. Easy assemble with tools included. US-based customer support and replacement parts available nationwide.

The LS-218 is therefore best understood as a maximum-speed-focused electric superbike. Its order page shows that it is offered for purchase, unlike development projects whose performance exists only as a target. Buyers should confirm current specification, road-homologation details, delivery timing and charging configuration directly with Lightning because the order page notes that options and availability are subject to change.

Which electric motorcycle has the quickest acceleration?

Among the clearly specified models in this comparison, the LS-218 carries the quickest quoted 0–60 mph figure. Energica’s Ego RS and Verge’s TS Ultra are also listed below three seconds, while LiveWire’s ONE is slower but still delivers sports-bike performance.

Acceleration numbers are especially sensitive to launch settings, tire condition, rider mass, battery state, surface and whether the manufacturer uses a rollout allowance. Verge’s very high torque figure also cannot be compared directly with the horsepower ratings used for several other motorcycles: torque may be measured at the motor, wheel or through a stated gearing arrangement. Treat every number as the maker’s specification unless an independent test protocol is identified.

Range and charging: the figures are not interchangeable

Range test context

The range numbers come from different operating conditions. Lightning’s figure is an average-highway estimate; LiveWire reports separate combined and sustained-highway results at a stated 55-mph speed; Verge gives separate city and highway estimates. A city result with frequent low-speed running will normally be much higher than sustained high-speed travel, so the largest number is not automatically the best touring range.

Charging hardware and time

Lightning quotes a short charge window to 80% using its proprietary Lightning-Fast Charge System and documents CCS Level 2/3 charging for the LS-218. LiveWire’s stated 20–80% time is much longer and covers a different charging setup and battery window. Zero’s Rapid Charging Module is optional and raises the SR/F’s charging capability to the stated maximum; the motorcycle’s standard equipment and the electrical supply at your destination determine the real result.

Before buying, verify the connector version, maximum current, required circuit, included equipment and whether a claimed charging time assumes a special high-power installation. Charging from a household outlet, a public AC station or a dedicated high-power system can produce very different outcomes.

Availability, price and delivery reality

Models presented as current products

Lightning’s order page presents the LS-218 with a starting price, and Energica, Zero and LiveWire publish current model pages. “Current” does not guarantee immediate inventory: build slots, regional registration, shipping and service arrangements still need confirmation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Reservation and future-delivery models

Verge’s TS Ultra appears in a reservation or order flow rather than as an immediately available motorcycle. Its published delivery estimate is future dated and applies by region, so a reservation should not be treated as possession of a road-ready bike. Ask for a written specification, deposit terms, cancellation policy, homologation status and service plan before committing funds.

Price comparisons

The cited pages do not provide a consistent price for every model. Lightning lists a starting figure and LiveWire lists a comparison-page price; the Energica Ego RS, Verge TS Ultra and Zero SR/F pages used here do not state a directly comparable current price. Taxes, delivery, options, charging equipment and regional incentives can materially change the out-the-door amount.

Choosing the right fast electric motorcycle

For maximum top speed or track use

The LS-218 is the clear choice in this manufacturer-claimed ranking. Its specification is centered on superbike acceleration and top speed, so confirm track access, tire availability, parts support and charging logistics before treating it as a practical road-tourer.

For a conventional electric sportbike

The Energica Ego RS offers a clearly specified sportbike package with a lower headline speed than Lightning but a documented acceleration figure and an established model listing. It is the more conventional comparison for riders who want a sportbike format rather than a reservation-stage design.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For torque and long-distance claims

Verge’s TS Ultra emphasizes extreme torque and unusually high projected range, but its future delivery estimate makes it a planning proposition rather than an immediately obtainable motorcycle. Verify production and regional approval before using its figures to plan a purchase.

Rank #4
Yozma IN10 Electric Dirt Bike, 40MPH 2600W Off Road Electric Motorcycle
  • High-Performance Motor: Inspired by true motocross, the IN10 electric dirt bike’s 2600W peak mid-drive motor crushes hills and trails with ease. This torque-packed beast conquers slopes up to 30° and rockets to 40 mph the moment you twist the throttle. Adventure is calling—ready to own the dirt?
  • Ultimate Battery Safety: The IN10 e dirt bike features an advanced BMS system that safeguards every charge and every ride. Its removable, long-range battery delivers up to 53 miles of range—powering extended adventures with confidence and ease.
  • Premium Full Suspension: Rear nitrogen shock delivers faster response, smoother comfort, and long-lasting durability. Paired with a 220mm-travel front hydraulic fork, the IN10 ebike maintains stable, consistent damping—even through long, demanding rides.
  • Reliable Stop System: IN10 electric bike’s braking setup pairs advanced EABS with hydraulic disc brakes for powerful, precise stopping. Even on dusty or muddy terrain, it delivers stronger braking force and smoother control—keeping every ride confident and steady.
  • Note: Before riding, please ensure that the brakes/wheels and other devices of the IN10 ebike are installed correctly. Before purchasing, check the local legal age or license requirements to ensure legal use. Teens should operate the bike only under adult supervision and must follow all local safety regulations.

For an established street model with charging options

Zero’s SR/F is a current model with an optional rapid-charging upgrade. Its listed top speed is shared by the Verge TS Ultra, but the two motorcycles differ substantially in availability status, drivetrain presentation and the conditions behind their range claims.

For a lower-cost entry among these listed prices

LiveWire’s ONE has the lowest listed price in the cited comparison and a lower top speed than the superbikes above. Its range and charging figures are explicitly tied to 55-mph and 20–80% conditions, which makes them useful for planning but unsuitable for direct comparison with city-cycle estimates.

Where Damon HyperSport fits

Damon’s HyperSport should remain on a future-watch list. Investor materials describe a 200-mph objective, while the company’s SEC filing places validation after pre-production milestones and facility work. The cited sources do not establish a delivered production motorcycle, an independently timed top speed or a generally available purchase. It should not be ranked alongside the production models.

How to read “fastest” claims responsibly

  • Check the metric: top speed, 0–60 mph, 0–100 km/h, peak horsepower and motor torque measure different things.
  • Check who measured it: a manufacturer specification or target is not the same as an independently verified test.
  • Check the test conditions: road, track, wind, rider weight, battery state and rollout rules can change the result.
  • Check production status: a reservation, prototype or investor target is not equivalent to a delivered, road-legal motorcycle.
  • Check regional fit: confirm homologation, registration, warranty, service access and charging standards for your country.
  • Check the use case: sustained highway range, charging access and parts support may matter more than a brief maximum-speed run.
