Both share the redesigned sedan’s Two-Line headlamps with Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology and a 27-inch-wide OLED display; the Sport adds distinctive grille, bumper and trim details, plus some Korea-market handling equipment on specified versions.
What are the G80’s two designs?
They are two variants of the redesigned G80, not unrelated models: the standard G80, which emphasizes an elegant appearance, and the G80 Sport, with more assertive exterior styling and exclusive cabin details. Genesis frames its design philosophy as “Athletic Elegance”; that is the manufacturer’s description, not an independent assessment.
How the standard G80 looks
Exterior
The standard model gets a dual-mesh Two-Line Crest Grille and Two-Line headlamps using Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology. At the rear, a diffuser with hidden mufflers and V-shaped chrome trim gives the car a cleaner finish. Genesis also highlighted a 20-inch five double-spoke wheel design.
Cabin and technology
The main interior change is a 27-inch-wide OLED display that integrates the instrument cluster and the AVN (audio, video and navigation) screen. Touch-based climate controls and a crystal-like shift-by-wire controller complete the updated cabin. Genesis calls the interior concept “Beauty of White Space.”

What makes the G80 Sport different?
Sport-specific styling
The Sport retains the MLA Two-Line headlamps but uses a double-layered G-Matrix grille, larger air intakes, different bumpers and diffusers, and black rear garnish. Inside, Genesis lists a D-cut steering wheel and red or silver carbon garnish options.
Equipment depends on the market and version
For the Korea-market 3.5 turbo Sport, Genesis listed rear-wheel steering, an electronic limited-slip differential, Michelin summer tires and a Sports+ driving mode. These are Korea launch specifications, not equipment to assume on every G80 Sport worldwide. Genesis says features and specifications can vary by region.

What changed in the facelift?
The redesign’s defining updates are the revised front and rear styling, the Sport’s more distinctive treatment, and the integrated 27-inch cabin display. The standard and Sport designs share key elements, especially the Two-Line MLA headlamps, but differ in grille, bumper, diffuser and trim execution.
Genesis’s December 13, 2023 design announcement described 10 exterior color options and four interior color options for the redesigned G80 and G80 Sport. The later Korea launch release lists five interior choices when the Sport-exclusive black/red option is included. These are announcement-specific figures; they should not be treated as a universal color list for every market or current model year.

When was the redesigned G80 released?
Genesis unveiled the redesigned G80 on December 13, 2023, saying an official launch was planned for the end of that month. Sales in Korea began December 26, 2023. That date is the Korean launch, not a universal market launch date; timing and specifications elsewhere may differ.
In the Korea launch announcement, Genesis listed the 2.5 turbo gasoline engine at 304 PS and 43.0 kgf·m, and the 3.5 turbo gasoline engine at 380 PS and 54.0 kgf·m. Those figures describe the Korea-market versions in that release, not every 2025 G80 sold globally.

Is the G80 Black one of the two facelift designs?
No. The two designs in the facelift announcement are the standard G80 and G80 Sport. Genesis later announced Korean sales of the G80 Black began January 8, 2025. It is a separate black-themed appearance variant, with blacked-out exterior trim and black interior details; the announcement does not establish availability in every market.
