Factory Five Racing unveiled the F9R in 2019 as a proposed racing-oriented kit supercar, with a 9.5-liter LS-based V12 as its headline engine. The reveal described a concept and projected development schedule—not a production car. Current order status is unconfirmed: the available manufacturer and regulator records do not establish that an F9R was released, canceled, or can be ordered today.
What Factory Five proposed in 2019
Factory Five presented the F9R as the racing-focused member of a planned F9 family, alongside a road-oriented F9. The project was framed as a new supercar concept in the context of updating or replacing the company’s GTM. Contemporary reports described a build-it-yourself kit, not a completed production car tested by journalists. Road & Track, Top Gear, and ClassicCars.com Journal covered the announcement in 2019.
Layout and body
Road & Track described a front-mid-engine layout and a chassis based on a stretched and widened version of the frame used for Factory Five’s Daytona Coupe kit. The proposed body was carbon-fiber composite. Top Gear’s preview images showed a track-only racing nose; a separate road-legal nose was expected to appear later. These were concept-era descriptions, not confirmation of the final design or a production specification.
The reported engine and specifications
The standout feature was a 9.5-liter LS-based V12 shown in a Factory Five chassis at SEMA. ClassicCars.com Journal identified Race Cast Engineering of Australia as the engine’s developer, while Road & Track described it as LS3-based. The reported output figures differed between publications:

What the 2019 timeline did—and did not—promise
The dates in the launch coverage were forecasts made in 2019, not evidence that milestones were completed. Top Gear projected production in late 2020 or early 2021 and said a prototype was hoped for by spring or summer 2020. Road & Track reported an expected completed body by the end of the first quarter of 2020, a running prototype in spring, and testing into summer. ClassicCars.com Journal also described validation testing in spring or summer 2020 before customer availability.

Can you order an F9R now?
Current availability remains unresolved. A current manufacturer-linked profile and the NHTSA manufacturer record do not confirm an F9 or F9R product release. NHTSA lists Factory Five as an active replica-vehicle manufacturer and includes F9 among registered brand names, but its displayed approved replica vehicle is a Cobra roadster. That record does not show that the F9R entered production or is available to buy.
Accordingly, the F9R should be described as a 2019 proposal unless Factory Five provides a current product statement. The available records do not settle whether the project was released, canceled, or revised, and they do not verify that customers can place an order.
