If you are in the U.S., there is no permanent free stream of every Formula 1 race in 2026. The legal ways to watch without paying for a full subscription are Apple TV’s seven-day trial, unlocked practice sessions, selected free Apple TV events, selected Tubi alternative broadcasts, and some practice or qualifying coverage through Yahoo Sports.
Streaming rights vary by country. The instructions below apply to viewers in the United States and were checked on August 9, 2026.

Best free option for a complete F1 race: the Apple TV trial
Apple TV is the exclusive U.S. broadcaster for Formula 1 in 2026. Its Formula 1 channel currently advertises a seven-day free trial, then $12.99 per month for eligible new subscribers.

How to start the Apple TV trial
- Open the Apple TV app or visit tv.apple.com.
- Select Formula 1.
- Choose the upcoming event.
- Select Sign Up to Watch, Accept Free Trial, or the equivalent subscription button.
- Review the price and renewal terms, then confirm the trial.
The exact button can differ by device, account, and eligibility. Apple’s trial is generally intended for new subscribers, so an account that has already used a qualifying Apple TV offer may not receive the free period.
How to avoid being charged
Cancel at least 24 hours before the seven-day trial ends if you do not want it to renew at $12.99 per month.
On an iPhone or iPad, go to:
Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Apple TV → Cancel Subscription

If you subscribed through the website:
tv.apple.com → Sign In → account icon → Settings → Subscriptions → Manage → Cancel
Save the cancellation confirmation and check the subscription status afterward. Do not wait until race start, because the renewal deadline is based on the trial and billing period rather than the event schedule.
Watch F1 practice sessions for free
Apple’s current U.S. F1 viewing guide says that every practice session is available without an Apple TV subscription. This does not automatically make qualifying, the Sprint, or the Grand Prix free.

The usual route is:
Apple TV app → Formula 1 → select the practice event → Watch Live

You can also use the Apple TV app on Android or watch through tv.apple.com. You may need to sign in with an Apple Account, but a paid Apple TV subscription should not be required for the unlocked practice stream.
Look for selected free race weekends on Apple TV
Apple has said that selected F1 race weekends will be available free in the Apple TV app. It has not published a permanent list covering every free weekend, so check the Formula 1 page before each event.
Look for an event marked Watch Free, an unlocked play button, or a promotional access message. A free practice session is not proof that the associated qualifying session or race is also free; check each session separately.
Use Tubi for selected alternative broadcasts
Tubi is offering free, creator-hosted alternative broadcasts for selected 2026 races. One announced example is The Fast Lane: Miami for the 2026 Miami Grand Prix.

Availability is race-specific. Check Tubi’s schedule for the weekend you want to watch and confirm that the stream is available in your location.
Check Yahoo Sports for practice and qualifying
Apple’s U.S. streaming arrangement with Yahoo Sports includes:
- Live practice sessions using Apple TV’s main broadcast feed.
- Live qualifying sessions using a mixed onboard-camera feed.
The qualifying presentation may not look like the normal television feed because it emphasizes onboard footage. Apple’s announcement also does not guarantee that every session will appear on every Yahoo platform or device, so search Yahoo Sports’ current F1 listing for the specific race weekend.
Where you can watch Apple TV F1 streams
Apple lists support for the Apple TV app on the following devices:
- iPhone and iPad
- Mac and the web at tv.apple.com
- Apple TV 4K and Apple Vision Pro
- Compatible Android phones and tablets
- Samsung, LG, Sony, VIZIO, TCL, and other supported smart TVs
- Roku and Amazon Fire TV
- Chromecast with Google TV
- PlayStation and Xbox
On an Apple TV 4K or compatible television, open:
Apple TV app → sidebar → Formula 1 → live event → choose a stream
For an event already underway, Apple may offer Watch Live, Start Over, alternate commentary languages, or additional video feeds. Availability depends on the event and device.

Can an Apple TV subscription unlock F1 TV?
In the U.S., F1 TV Premium is no longer a separate direct subscription for live Grand Prix video. It is available through an Apple TV subscription at no additional cost.

This does not create an additional free trial. You still need an eligible Apple TV subscription, such as the active trial or paid plan.
F1 TV Access is not a free live-race stream
F1 TV Access is often confused with the former U.S. live-race option. The current U.S. offering focuses on live timing data, team-radio highlights, delayed race replays, documentaries, and archive material. It is not a way to watch live Grand Prix video in the United States.
What not to rely on

Avoid unofficial “free F1 stream” websites. They commonly generate aggressive pop-ups, fake play buttons, malware downloads, and unstable video. They can also disappear during the race or violate broadcasting rights. The options above are the legal free or trial-based routes.
Watching from outside the United States
Do not use the U.S. Apple TV instructions as a worldwide guide. Formula 1 rights are sold by territory. The official F1 broadcast-information page lists different providers, including Sky Sports in the United Kingdom and Ireland, TSN in Canada, DAZN in Spain, and Foxtel/Kayo in Australia.

Open Formula 1’s broadcast-information page, select your country, and check whether the listed broadcaster offers a free trial, free-to-air coverage, or a free event. A VPN does not change the underlying rights or guarantee that a service will accept your account or location.
