U.S. Corolla Hatchback: SE, FX and XSE
The 2026 U.S. Corolla Hatchback pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive and a Dynamic-Shift continuously variable transmission. Toyota lists 169 hp and Sport, Eco and Normal drive modes. The three grades are SE, FX and XSE.

U.S. GR Corolla: the performance step up
The GR Corolla is not simply a sport-trim Corolla Hatchback. Toyota equips it with a turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine rated at 300 hp and GR-FOUR all-wheel drive. For 2026, Toyota lists a six-speed manual and an eight-speed automatic, which it labels DAT.

The prices are 2026 U.S. Toyota-listed starting prices and may change. Toyota’s specification page gives the 21/28-mpg city/highway figure specifically for Premium Plus MT; its U.S. hatchback overview also lists 21/28 mpg estimated city/highway for the 2026 GR Corolla without narrowing that overview figure to a transmission. Do not assume one rating applies to every grade and transmission.
UK Corolla Hatchback: a different, hybrid car
The UK-market Corolla Hatchback is a self-charging hybrid, not the 2.0-liter U.S. model described above. Toyota UK offers Hybrid 140 and Hybrid 200 powertrains, rated at 140 hp and 200 hp respectively. Toyota lists WLTP fuel consumption of 4.4–4.9 l/100 km for Hybrid 140 and 4.7–4.9 l/100 km for Hybrid 200.

For the UK Icon specification, Toyota describes a 1.8-liter, 140 DIN hp, front-wheel-drive configuration with automatic transmission. Its specification page gives combined fuel-economy figures from 57.6 to 64.1 mpg WLTP, along with 4,370 mm exterior length and 1,052 litres of load volume with the rear seats folded and cargo loaded to the roof. These figures describe that stated configuration and measurement method; Toyota cautions that fuel economy and emissions figures are for comparison and should be compared with vehicles tested under the same procedures. UK WLTP ratings should not be ranked directly against U.S. mpg estimates.
GR Yaris: Europe’s rally-derived performance hatch
Toyota Europe lists the GR Yaris in its range, and Toyota UK describes it as a high-performance hatchback with a turbocharged three-cylinder engine, full-time all-wheel drive and selectable drive modes. It is a separate model from the U.S.-market GR Corolla, not a trim or alternative name for it.

Toyota UK’s March 13, 2026 media announcement described updates including a smaller steering wheel, revised shock absorbers and power steering tuned for high-performance tyres. At that point, Toyota said UK availability details would follow later in 2026. That announcement does not confirm the model’s current UK availability, and the cited sources do not establish that the GR Yaris is sold in the United States. Check Toyota’s local model range for the latest availability.

Toyota includes both Prius models on its U.S. hatchback overview. For the 2026 U.S. Prius, Toyota lists up to 57 mpg combined. For the 2026 U.S. Prius Plug-in Hybrid, it lists 220 hp and up to 44 miles of electric range. These are Toyota’s figures for those model years and market, not independent test results.

The plug-in distinction is practical: the Prius Plug-in Hybrid can be charged externally and has an electric-driving range, while the UK Corolla hybrids described above are self-charging and do not require plugging in. The two systems and their published ratings belong to different models and markets.

- When comparing economy or cargo space: use the same market, model year, test procedure and measurement method. A U.S. estimated mpg figure is not directly comparable to a UK WLTP result, and the UK Corolla’s roof-loaded folded-seat volume should not be compared with an unspecified cargo measurement.
