The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series leads the six production Black Series models with a U.S.-market rating of 720 hp. At the other end, the SLK 55 AMG Black Series is rated at 400 hp. The ranking below uses Mercedes-Benz USA horsepower figures throughout; European materials often give power in PS, a different unit, so those figures are not mixed into the list.
All horsepower and performance figures are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent dyno or road-test results.

2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series — 720 hp
Mercedes-Benz USA rates the GT Black Series’ 4.0-liter biturbo V8 at 720 hp at 6,700–6,900 rpm and 590 lb-ft of torque from 2,000–6,000 rpm. It sends power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Mercedes-Benz gives a 0–60 mph time of 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph. The engine uses a flat-plane crankshaft, and the car’s aerodynamic development draws on the GT3 race car. Mercedes-Benz USA’s 2021 technical guide gives the U.S. rating; Mercedes-Benz’s European release lists 730 PS instead, alongside 800 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and a 325 km/h top speed.
-
2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series — 661 hp
The SL 65’s 6.0-liter biturbo V12 produces 661 hp and 738 lb-ft in Mercedes-Benz USA’s retrospective. Mercedes-Benz says 350 were produced globally. The model’s fixed-roof coupé body used extensive carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic, and the company said it weighed 250 kilograms less than a standard SL 65. European historical material describes its debut as 2008 and gives 670 PS, 1,000 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and a limited top speed of 320 km/h. The 2008 debut and 2009 U.S. model-year framing refer to different chronology, rather than a single universally applicable year.

Its 6.3-liter V8 is rated at 622 hp and 468 lb-ft. Mercedes-Benz USA lists a curb weight of 3,417 pounds and says fewer than 200 examples were imported to the United States; that is an import figure, not a global production total. The SLS Black Series was inspired by the SLS AMG GT3 and combined weight-saving measures with a ceramic-composite braking system. Mercedes-Benz’s European history lists 631 PS, 0–100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and a 315 km/h top speed.
-
2013 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Black Series — 510 hp
The C 63’s V8 makes 510 hp and 457 lb-ft in the U.S. retrospective, which reports 800 units produced globally. Mercedes-Benz’s European history calls it a 2012 model introduction and gives 517 PS, 620 Nm and 0–100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. Its documented changes include adjustable suspension and high-performance composite brakes; a track package was optional. The 2012 introduction and 2013 U.S. model-year framing describe different market chronology.

How to read the horsepower figures
The order is based only on Mercedes-Benz USA’s published horsepower ratings, which keeps the market and unit consistent. European materials commonly report PS (metric horsepower) rather than U.S. hp. For example, the GT is listed at 720 hp by Mercedes-Benz USA and 730 PS in the European release. Those numbers use different units and source specifications; they should not be combined as if they were directly interchangeable ratings.
Mercedes-AMG’s historical overview covers six production Black Series models, from the SLK 55 in 2006 through the GT Black Series in 2020. The cars were positioned as especially sporty AMG flagships, with model-specific work across areas such as powertrains, chassis, brakes, materials and aerodynamics. Ralf Sporr, responsible for the historic AMG fleet, described them as “the flagship vehicles or a particularly sporty version of an AMG model range.”

Production and import figures are not directly comparable
Reported counts use different geographic bases. Mercedes-Benz USA gives global production figures for the SL 65, C 63 and CLK 63, but its SLS figure is fewer than 200 cars imported to the United States. The SLK figure is 120 produced, and the model was not sold in the U.S. Because the sources do not provide comparable global-production figures for all six cars, these numbers do not establish a like-for-like rarity ranking.
