This ranking covers the models on BMW USA’s current high-performance M lineup page—not every M vehicle sold historically or in every market. BMW classifies M Performance and electrified-performance models separately; they are not included as if they were the same category. BMW USA’s M lineup labels these as preliminary figures, not guaranteed results for every car or driver.

The list is sorted by BMW’s published preliminary 0–60 mph times. Models with the same listed time share a rank; no finer order is implied. BMW’s current U.S. lineup distinguishes body styles and variants, so the labels below are part of the comparison.

BMW’s lineup and model pages provide the figures; the retrieved pages do not state a publication year for the lineup figures. The M5 Sedan page identifies the 2027 model as a 717-hp M Hybrid and lists 3.4 seconds. BMW’s XM page lists the XM Label at 738 hp and 3.6 seconds. BMW’s M4 specifications show how configuration changes the claim: 4.1 seconds for the M4 Coupe, 3.8 for the M4 Competition Coupe, and 3.4 for the M4 Competition xDrive Coupe.
Which BMW M car is fastest?

How to interpret BMW’s 0–60 figures
These are manufacturer-published preliminary BMW AG test results intended for comparison. BMW says actual acceleration varies with vehicle specification, road and environmental conditions, testing procedures, and driving style. A published time therefore is not a promise that every example will achieve it in everyday use. BMW also says not to attempt to verify the figures on public roads. BMW USA’s lineup page carries this qualification.
Use the time to compare the exact variants shown, rather than treating all versions of an M model as interchangeable. For instance, BMW lists different figures for the M4 Coupe, M4 Competition Coupe, and M4 Competition xDrive Coupe; the xDrive designation and body/trim distinctions matter to the published comparison.

What is included—and what is not
“Every” here means every model shown in BMW USA’s current high-performance M lineup for this ranking. It is not a historical catalogue, a worldwide list, or a ranking of BMW M Performance models. BMW presents high-performance M, M Performance, and electrified-performance categories separately, so a model appearing in one of those other categories is outside this list unless it appears in the high-performance lineup covered above.
