Short answer: The Essel Energy GET 5 costs far less to buy and is specified as an electric bicycle, but its published range varies from “up to 80 km” to an ARAI-claimed 30–35 km per charge, depending on the listing and variant. The iScoot Scoot 1 costs roughly ₹1.11–₹1.21 lakh on road, claims 150 km per charge, and lists a two- to three-hour charge time. Neither figure has been confirmed by a controlled, independent road test, so the Scoot 1 has the stronger published range and charging claims while the GET 5 has the lower entry price. A definitive running-cost winner cannot be established from comparable data.
GET 5 and Scoot 1 at a glance
These are not equivalent vehicles. The GET 5 is a low-speed electric bicycle with a 250W rear-hub motor and a 25 km/h maximum speed. The Scoot 1 is a substantially more expensive electric scooter with a much larger battery. That difference explains most of the gap in claimed range, charging time and purchase price.

What “real-world range” means here
GET 5: two incompatible published claims
Essel Energy’s current GET 5 page advertises up to 80 km and a five- to six-hour charge time. The same page lists three 48V battery capacities, so the headline does not identify which battery variant, rider load, assist level, terrain or test procedure produces 80 km.

BikeDekho’s current GET 5 listing gives an ARAI-claimed 30–35 km per charge. That is not a measured real-world test either, and it conflicts with the manufacturer’s “up to 80 km” statement. The safest interpretation is that these are claims attached to different listings or configurations. A buyer should not use 80 km as a guaranteed commute distance, nor assume the 30–35 km figure applies to every battery option.
Scoot 1: longer claim, but still not a road-test result
ZigWheels lists 150 km per charge for the Scoot 1 and identifies 2.16 kWh and 2.59 kWh batteries for the Pro and Ultra versions. The listing does not provide a controlled route, average speed, rider mass, weather, payload or reserve percentage for the 150 km figure. It is therefore a published mileage claim rather than independently verified range.
Why the numbers will change in daily use
Range falls when a vehicle carries more weight, climbs hills, runs at higher speed, stops and starts frequently, operates with soft tires or uses an older battery. Cold weather and strong headwinds also increase energy use. On a short, flat urban commute, either vehicle may approach its favorable test conditions; a hilly route with a passenger or heavy cargo may produce a much shorter result.

It is also very quick to remove, there is a small bump on the coaster, pinch it and you can easily remove the coaster. - 100% Satisfaction: Our products have quality assurance, if you have questions or are not satisfied after receiving the product, don't worry, please contact us as soon as possible, we provide after-sales service.
Because no controlled, head-to-head road test is available, the only defensible comparison is that the Scoot 1 has the higher published range claim, while the GET 5’s actual distance is especially uncertain across its three battery options.
Charging time and what it means for commuting
GET 5 charging schedule
Essel Energy quotes five to six hours for a full GET 5 charge. A rider who plugs in after an evening trip should normally have a full battery by morning, assuming a functioning charger and a suitable outlet. A mid-day top-up is less convenient: a one-hour stop is only a fraction of the stated full-charge window, and the source does not state how many kilometres that partial charge adds.
The 5.6Ah, 8.8Ah and 16Ah versions all use the same 48V nominal voltage, but the published page does not state separate charge times for each battery. Do not assume that the largest battery reaches full charge as quickly as the smallest one.

Scoot 1 charging schedule
ZigWheels lists two to three hours for a full Scoot 1 charge. That shorter window makes a lunch-time or between-shifts recharge more plausible, although the listing does not say whether both Pro and Ultra batteries achieve a full charge in exactly the same period. Confirm the charger rating, charging location and whether the battery is removable before purchase.

Planning a daily route
- Measure the round trip, not one way. Include detours, school runs and errands that normally occur on the same day.
- Keep a reserve. Do not plan to arrive at zero indicated range; leave extra capacity for weather, traffic and battery aging.
- Match the charge window. The GET 5 is better suited to overnight charging. The Scoot 1’s stated two- to three-hour window offers more flexibility, provided your workplace or destination permits charging.
- Ask about access. A scooter that cannot be brought near an outlet may be less practical than a bicycle with a longer nominal charging time.
Battery size and energy cost
What the GET 5 specifications allow you to calculate
Using the listed 48V voltage and amp-hour ratings, the nominal stored-energy arithmetic is approximately 0.27 kWh for 5.6Ah, 0.42 kWh for 8.8Ah and 0.77 kWh for 16Ah (voltage multiplied by amp-hours, divided by 1,000). These are nameplate estimates, not the energy drawn from a wall socket. Charging losses, usable battery limits, temperature and battery condition mean they cannot be converted directly into a trustworthy rupees-per-kilometre result.
Essel Energy also uses a broad “Ride @ 15p/km” marketing message for its product family. That statement is not a controlled GET 5 test and does not establish the cost of any particular battery variant under a defined electricity tariff.

Scoot 1’s published charging-cost assumption
ZigWheels reports ₹0.11 per kilometre for the Scoot 1, calculated using an electricity tariff of ₹6.5 per kWh and an assumption of 50 km of daily travel. This is an estimate under those stated conditions, not a universal tariff or a measured result for every rider. Your bill will differ with local electricity rates, charging losses, riding speed, payload and battery age.
| Cost question | GET 5 | Scoot 1 |
|---|---|---|
| Published electricity-cost figure | No matched per-kilometre result. “Ride @ 15p/km” is family-level marketing, not a controlled GET 5 calculation. | ₹0.11/km under ₹6.5/kWh and 50 km/day assumptions (ZigWheels, 19 August 2026 update) |
| Inputs needed for a fair calculation | Usable battery kWh, wall-to-battery charging losses, electricity tariff and measured kilometres | The listing supplies a tariff and daily-distance assumption, but not a matched independent test |
| Can one be declared cheaper? | No. The available figures use different methods and do not provide matched test conditions. | |
How to calculate your own cost
Record the electricity consumed by a full charge at the wall, rather than relying only on the battery label. Multiply that kWh reading by your tariff, then divide by the kilometres actually covered before the next full charge. Repeat over several rides and include charging losses. For example, the formula is (kWh drawn from the outlet × ₹ per kWh) ÷ kilometres ridden. Keep GET 5 and Scoot 1 measurements under the same route and load if you want a meaningful comparison.

GET 5 price advantage
The listed GET 5 prices are ₹42,119 for the 5.6Ah version, ₹44,459 for 8.8Ah and ₹53,819 for 16Ah. The 16Ah model costs ₹11,700 more than the 5.6Ah model, while the 8.8Ah version costs ₹2,340 more than the entry battery. Those differences buy additional stated capacity, but the source does not provide a controlled kilometres-per-charge result for each variant.

Scoot 1 purchase cost
ZigWheels lists the Scoot 1 at approximately ₹1.11–₹1.21 lakh on road, depending on city. That is roughly twice the highest published GET 5 price before accounting for insurance, registration, accessories, financing or local fees. The Scoot’s larger battery and scooter format may justify the extra outlay for a longer commute, but the price alone does not prove lower lifetime cost.
Warranty, payload and service checks
The cited specifications do not state a comparable warranty period, maximum payload, battery-replacement price or service-quality record for either model. Obtain those details in writing from the seller before paying. Ask specifically about battery warranty exclusions, charger replacement, brake and tire parts, water exposure, roadside support and the location of an authorized service point. A theoretically cheaper vehicle can become expensive if a failed battery or controller requires long-distance shipping.
Which is better for a daily commute?
Choose the GET 5 when
- Your route is short enough that a conservative 30–35 km planning figure covers the round trip with reserve.
- You want the lowest purchase price and can charge overnight.
- A bicycle format and 25 km/h maximum speed suit your roads, parking and local rules.
- You can confirm local parts and service availability before purchase.
Choose the Scoot 1 when
- You need the strongest published range claim and a shorter stated two- to three-hour charging window.
- Your commute regularly exceeds what the GET 5 can cover conservatively, or you need more capacity for errands.
- You accept an on-road purchase price of about ₹1.11–₹1.21 lakh and can meet scooter-related registration, insurance and parking requirements in your city.
- You verify the Pro or Ultra battery, charger, payload rating and service coverage with the dealer.
When neither claim is enough
If your daily distance is close to either vehicle’s claimed limit, arrange a demonstration on your actual route or ask for a return policy that covers range disappointment. A short test on flat roads cannot validate a 150 km claim, but it can reveal seating comfort, hill performance, braking, charging access and whether the vehicle fits your parking space.

- Confirm full-charge time with the supplied charger and the battery’s charging location.
- Check the vehicle’s legal classification, registration and insurance requirements where you live.
- Get the warranty duration and exclusions for the battery, motor, controller and charger.
- Locate an authorized service center and ask how long common replacement parts take to arrive.
- Measure your own electricity tariff and route distance so you can estimate operating cost with the formula above.
Verdict
The GET 5 is the value choice for a modest, predictable commute: it starts at ₹42,119, charges overnight and has a 25 km/h bicycle format. Its range must be treated cautiously because the manufacturer’s “up to 80 km” statement and BikeDekho’s 30–35 km ARAI-claimed figure are not reconciled.
The Scoot 1 is the more capable long-distance proposition on paper, with a 150 km claim, 2–3 hour charge time and 2.16 or 2.59 kWh batteries, but it costs about ₹1.11–₹1.21 lakh on road. Its ₹0.11/km estimate applies only to ZigWheels’ ₹6.5/kWh and 50-km-per-day assumptions. Since neither model has a matched independent range or energy test, select based on your measured route, charging access, legal requirements and verified local support—not on the headline range alone.
