The prices above come from Maruti Suzuki India Limited’s current Ertiga variant page accessed in 2026. Maruti states that invoice-time prices and schemes apply, so treat them as listed starting prices rather than a guaranteed drive-away quote.
What the extra ₹2,89,100 actually buys
The most important fact in this comparison is that the premium is not paying for a larger engine, a different manual gearbox or a higher published fuel-efficiency figure. The official brochure gives both trims the same petrol powertrain and the same 20.51 km/l manufacturer-published efficiency figure.

That makes the decision unusually clear: choose LXi if your priority is the lowest acquisition price and you can accept a basic equipment set; choose ZXi+ if the factory-fitted technology, convenience functions, cabin finish and listed six-airbag fitment matter enough to justify the difference. The right answer is therefore feature value, not a performance comparison.
How large is the price gap in practice?
On the listed prices, LXi starts at ₹8,90,000 and ZXi+ starts at ₹11,79,100. The arithmetic difference is ₹2,89,100. This figure does not include registration, insurance, road tax, accessories, financing or other city-specific on-road charges. It also does not account for a dealer scheme or an invoice-time price revision.
Ask for written, itemised quotes for both variants in your registration jurisdiction. A lower ex-showroom gap can look different after local taxes and insurance are added, while a dealer offer may apply to one trim and not the other. The official page’s displayed price is the starting point for the conversation, not the final amount you will pay.

Identical 1.5-litre petrol hardware
Both variants use a 1.5-litre, 1462 cc petrol engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The 2025 Ertiga brochure lists 103.06 PS at 6,000 rpm and 139 Nm at 4,300 rpm for this petrol engine. There is no listed ZXi+ output increase, special engine tune or additional manual gear in the comparison.
Consequently, moving from LXi to ZXi+ should not be expected to change the basic acceleration character, engine response or gearing. Any difference you feel in normal use will come from the equipment package, vehicle load, road conditions and driving style rather than a higher-output engine.
Interpreting 20.51 km/l
Maruti publishes 20.51 km/l for both the LXi MT and ZXi+ MT. Because the figure is identical, the brochure does not establish an efficiency advantage for either trim. It is a manufacturer-published specification and should not be presented as a promise of the consumption you will see in traffic.

Actual economy can vary with passenger and luggage load, congestion, speed, gradients, tyre pressures, air-conditioning use and driving technique. The available official material does not provide an independent real-world test result, a city/highway split or a verified ownership-cost figure, so budget using your own driving pattern rather than treating 20.51 km/l as guaranteed.

Infotainment and sound
ZXi+ adds a 17.78 cm SmartPlay Pro touchscreen and Arkamys surround sound. This is the clearest visible upgrade in the cabin. Buyers who routinely use a factory touchscreen for media, phone integration or connected functions get an integrated system instead of relying on a simpler setup or adding equipment later.
The LXi equipment listing does not include this touchscreen system. If you are comfortable using a basic cabin setup, carrying a phone for navigation and leaving the factory interior unchanged, that omission may not bother you. If several family members expect a central display and a stronger, better-integrated audio system, the ZXi+ difference is easier to appreciate every day.
Cruise control
Cruise control is listed for ZXi+ and not listed for LXi. It can reduce the need to hold the accelerator continuously on suitable, legally permitted stretches with a steady traffic flow. It is not a substitute for active attention, and it is less useful in stop-start urban traffic or on roads where speed changes constantly.
For an Ertiga used mainly for short city journeys, cruise control may have little personal value. For owners who regularly make long intercity trips, it is a convenience feature that cannot be recreated by simply changing a display setting.
Automatic headlamps and lighting functions
ZXi+ lists automatic headlamps together with follow-me-home and lead-me-to-vehicle functions. Automatic operation can be convenient when entering a covered section, leaving in fading light or moving between bright and dark areas. Follow-me-home keeps lighting available briefly after parking, while lead-me-to-vehicle helps locate the car.

These functions are not listed for LXi. If you are happy to switch lights manually and normally park in a well-lit area, they are unlikely to determine your purchase. Their value increases for drivers who use the vehicle after dark, park outdoors or frequently move between changing light conditions.
Airbag listing and how to describe it accurately
The brochure lists six airbags for ZXi+. It does not list six airbags for LXi. That is a meaningful equipment distinction for a family vehicle, but it must be described precisely: the source establishes the stated fitment, not an independent crash-test result, an overall safety rating or proof that one trim will prevent a particular injury.
When comparing a dealer car with the brochure, confirm the exact model year and build specification. Ask the dealer to identify the airbags and other safety equipment on the vehicle being invoiced rather than assuming every car carrying the same trim name has unchanged equipment.

Cabin appearance and touch points
ZXi+ receives a sculpted dashboard with a metallic teak-wood finish and a corresponding front door-trim finish. The LXi listing describes a basic equipment set and does not list this premium treatment. The difference is primarily visual and tactile: it changes how the cabin feels to occupants without changing the engine or seating capacity.
Interior trim is subjective. Inspect both cars in person, because colour, reflected light and the condition of a display vehicle can affect your impression. If the car will carry family members daily, compare the surfaces you will actually see and touch rather than deciding from a feature list alone.
Seating and family practicality
Both LXi and ZXi+ are seven-seat Ertiga variants. The brochure lists second-row 60:40 split seats with one-touch recline and slide, plus third-row 50:50 split seats with recline for the lineup. Those arrangements support access to the third row and allow some adjustment when you need to balance passengers and luggage.

Because the seating hardware is described as lineup equipment, verify the current brochure and the physical vehicle being quoted. A trim comparison should not be used to assume that a future model-year car has exactly the same seat mechanism or upholstery.

Which trim suits which buyer?
Choose LXi when the purchase budget is the priority
- You want the lowest listed entry price for a seven-seat Ertiga.
- You are comfortable without the listed touchscreen, Arkamys audio, cruise control and automatic headlamps.
- You prefer to keep the initial purchase simple and decide later whether any equipment is necessary.
- Your driving is mostly short-distance or urban, where cruise control and automatic lighting offer limited benefit.
- You have compared the exact local on-road totals and the LXi remains comfortably within budget.
LXi is not a lower-powered version in this comparison. It uses the same 1.5-litre petrol engine, five-speed manual gearbox and published efficiency figure as ZXi+. Its compromise is equipment, not the core mechanical package.
Choose ZXi+ when factory equipment has real daily value
- You want a factory-integrated 17.78 cm touchscreen and Arkamys surround sound.
- You make regular highway trips and will use cruise control appropriately.
- You value automatic headlamps and the follow-me-home and lead-me-to-vehicle functions.
- You want the brochure-listed six-airbag fitment and understand that this is an equipment statement, not a crash-test result.
- You prefer the sculpted dashboard and metallic teak-wood interior treatment.
- You intend to keep the car for several years and will use these features frequently enough to justify their upfront cost.
ZXi+ is the more complete factory specification, but the premium is rational only when those additions matter to your use. Paying for equipment you rarely use is not automatically better value than buying LXi.

Factory equipment offers a known specification at delivery and avoids having to select components, arrange installation and check that the finished cabin meets your expectations. On the other hand, an LXi buyer may prefer the freedom to leave the car standard or choose equipment only when a genuine need appears.

Airbags and other safety-related systems should not be treated like ordinary accessories. Do not infer that an aftermarket screen, audio system or trim change can reproduce the ZXi+ safety equipment listing. Ask a qualified dealer or technician about any modification that could affect wiring, sensors or restraint systems.
How to compare the two quotes correctly
- Request both quotes for the same location. Ask the authorised Maruti Suzuki dealer for itemised LXi MT and ZXi+ MT prices, including the exact model year and variant code.
- Separate listed price from drive-away price. Check registration, road tax, insurance, handling or documentation charges, accessories and financing separately so the ₹2,89,100 listed gap is not confused with the final difference.
- Ask which schemes apply. Maruti states that invoice-time prices and schemes apply. Have the dealer show any discount, exchange benefit or finance-linked condition in writing.
- Verify equipment on the supplied car. Check the touchscreen, audio system, cruise-control switches, automatic-lighting functions, dashboard finish and airbag listing against the current brochure and the vehicle identification details.
- Confirm stock and delivery timing. Availability can vary by city and model year. A quoted trim is not useful if the dealer cannot confirm an allocation or a realistic delivery window.
- Drive both if possible. Since the powertrain is shared, the test drive is mainly an opportunity to confirm seating comfort, clutch feel, visibility and whether the ZXi+ features are genuinely useful to your family.
- Review the final invoice before payment. Make sure the trim name, transmission, fuel type, agreed price and included equipment match what you selected.
Pitfalls that can lead to the wrong decision
Assuming ZXi+ is faster
There is no listed engine or gearbox upgrade between these manual petrol versions. The premium should not be justified with an expectation of extra power or stronger acceleration.
Treating brochure efficiency as guaranteed mileage
The identical 20.51 km/l figure is useful for comparing the manufacturer’s published specification, not for predicting every owner’s fuel bill. No independent real-world figure is established here.

Using the listed price as an on-road quote
The ₹8,90,000 and ₹11,79,100 figures are listed starting prices. Local taxes, insurance, registration and schemes can change the amount payable. Get a current city-specific quote.
Turning the six-airbag listing into a safety-rating claim
ZXi+ has six airbags listed in the brochure, while six airbags are not listed for LXi. That does not by itself establish a crash-test score or prove comparative protection in every collision.
Assuming every model year is identical
The equipment information comes from a brochure surfaced as a 2025 edition, while prices were checked on the current variant page in 2026. Confirm the brochure and fitment for the exact car being offered, because prices and equipment can change.
Bottom-line buying decision
Buy the Ertiga LXi MT if your main objective is an affordable seven-seat petrol manual and you do not need the ZXi+ convenience package. You receive the same 1.5-litre, 1462 cc engine, five-speed manual gearbox, listed output and manufacturer-published efficiency figure.
Buy the Ertiga ZXi+ MT if the factory touchscreen and Arkamys audio, cruise control, automatic headlamps, upgraded cabin finish and brochure-listed six-airbag fitment are worth ₹2,89,100 to you after checking the actual on-road quotes. It is the richer specification, not the more powerful one.
Before committing, verify local availability, the invoice price, current schemes, model-year equipment and the final on-road total with Maruti Suzuki or an authorised dealer. Those checks matter more than relying on a headline price that may no longer match the car available in your city.
