Whether that is good value depends on how you use the car. A family that mostly needs a seven-seat vehicle and is happy to pair a phone over Bluetooth may find VXi sufficient. A buyer who spends substantial time in the car, regularly uses navigation or music from a phone, or wants the factory touchscreen and automatic headlamp convenience may consider the premium worthwhile. This is an equipment-value decision, not a performance upgrade.
Think about the premium as a multi-year convenience cost rather than only a showroom number. If the vehicle will be used for school runs, commuting and weekend travel every day, a built-in screen and easier lighting operation can be used repeatedly. If it is a low-mileage second car or a family vehicle where passengers bring their own audio devices, the same features may be used less often. Neither trim has a published fuel-economy advantage over the other, so expected petrol savings cannot be used to recover the upgrade.
Do not treat ₹1,83,800 as the amount you will necessarily pay at registration. Insurance selection, state and municipal registration charges, taxes, handling or other dealer line items, stock age, discounts and the invoice date can all change the on-road total. Ask for a dated, itemized quote for the exact petrol-manual variant before comparing finance offers.

The official July 2025 brochure lists the same 1,462 cc K15C Smart Hybrid petrol engine and five-speed manual transmission for the petrol-manual trims. Consequently, selecting ZXi+ MT instead of VXi MT is not presented as a way to obtain a more powerful petrol drivetrain. The trim decision is principally about equipment, finish and price.
Because the engine and gearbox listing is shared, the clutch, gear-selection and general powertrain familiarity should be treated as common to this comparison. The brochure does not establish a different calibration, output figure or mechanical hardware for ZXi+ MT. Buyers comparing dealer demonstrations should therefore focus on the actual condition and model year of the test vehicle, not assume that the higher trim drives differently.
Fuel-efficiency figure
The manufacturer publishes 20.51 km/l for the petrol manual configuration. It is a certified, manufacturer-listed figure and should be used as a comparison reference between the trims, not as a promise of fuel consumption in traffic. Load, air-conditioning use, road gradient, tyre pressures, driving style and congestion can produce a different result in daily use. Seven-seat MPV layout
Both versions belong to the seven-seat, three-row Ertiga family. The brochure lists second-row one-touch recline and slide functions and split/recline capability for the third row. Those features support changing the cabin between passenger and luggage duties, but the brochure includes a caveat that luggage-flat-fold availability can vary by fuel type and variant. Confirm the exact seat-fold arrangement on the car you are booking rather than assuming every Ertiga derivative has identical cargo flexibility.
On a showroom visit, sit in all three rows with the people who will use them. Operate the second-row one-touch mechanism, check access to the third row and inspect how much luggage space remains with all seats occupied. If you frequently carry large items, demonstrate the actual fold sequence on the selected petrol-manual vehicle and ask whether any listed luggage-flat function is restricted to another fuel or variant.
Equipment differences that you will notice every day
Infotainment and phone connectivity
VXi’s brochure entry is a Bluetooth audio system with four speakers. That is suitable for hands-free calls and streaming from a paired phone, but it is not the same factory touchscreen experience as ZXi+.

This is the most substantial day-to-day equipment difference: compatible phone apps can be displayed through the car’s interface without a wired connection, and the audio system has the higher-grade processing identified in the brochure. These checks do not change the brochure specification, but they can prevent a buyer from paying for a feature that is inconvenient with a particular handset. If you select VXi, budget only for accessories you genuinely need; do not assume an aftermarket screen will have the same integration, appearance or warranty treatment as the factory system.
The brochure and current vehicle specification should be checked together at purchase. The July 2025 brochure carries an equipment-change warning, so a feature shown in a published document should not replace confirmation of the actual model year, variant and vehicle identification number.
Automatic headlamp functions
ZXi+ adds automatic headlamps with follow-me-home and lead-me-to-vehicle functions in the brochure listing. Automatic operation can reduce the need to reach for the lighting control as ambient light changes, while the follow-me-home function can keep the area around the car illuminated briefly after locking or switching off. The lead-me-to-vehicle function is a locating convenience. These features improve ease of use but do not alter the engine, seating capacity or fundamental MPV packaging.

Consider where the car is parked. The locating function may be more useful in a large apartment or shopping-centre car park, while automatic headlamps are a convenience for drivers who regularly move between bright and dark areas. If those situations are rare, the feature remains a nice-to-have rather than a reason by itself to stretch the budget.
Cabin appearance
The ZXi+ grade is identified by a sculpted dashboard and front-door trims with a metallic teak finish, along with a premium dual-tone interior. VXi does not show that treatment in the brochure table. The difference is visual and tactile rather than structural, so buyers should decide how much importance they place on the cabin presentation over the ownership period.
Interior finish can matter more when the car is used for business travel or when the owner expects to keep it for many years, but it does not add seating capacity or published mechanical capability. Inspect both trims in daylight and check the materials, colour combination and visibility of the decorative treatment before deciding whether it has lasting value for you.
Which trim suits which buyer?
Choose VXi MT when the lower purchase price is the priority
- You want the seven-seat petrol-manual layout at the lowest listed starting price among these two trims.
- Bluetooth audio and four speakers meet your needs, or you are comfortable using a phone without a factory touchscreen.
- Automatic headlamps and the ZXi+ interior finish are conveniences rather than requirements.
- You would rather keep the ₹1,83,800 listed difference available for insurance choice, registration costs or other ownership expenses.
- You are comparing monthly finance payments and want to limit the amount borrowed, subject to the lender’s rate and terms.
VXi is the rational specification when the shared engine, gearbox, seating and published efficiency matter more than the added electronics and trim details. It can also be the sensible choice when several family members drive the car and the owner prefers fewer feature-specific settings to learn.
Choose ZXi+ MT when factory equipment matters
- You specifically want the 17.78 cm SmartPlay Pro touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
- Arkamys Surround Sense and the higher-grade factory audio presentation matter to you.
- Automatic headlamps, follow-me-home and lead-me-to-vehicle functions would be used regularly.
- You prefer the sculpted metallic-teak dashboard and front-door treatment and premium dual-tone cabin.
- You intend to keep the car long enough that frequent use of these features outweighs the higher initial outlay.
ZXi+ makes sense when those features are worth the listed premium to you. It should not be selected on the assumption that it brings a different petrol-manual engine or better published fuel economy; the brochure lists the same configuration and 20.51 km/l figure for both.

Accessories and post-purchase additions
Floor mats and other Genuine Accessories can be useful, but they are separate from the trim equipment described here. If you buy mats through an online marketplace or a dealer, check the model year, row layout and variant fit before paying. A mat advertised for an Ertiga may not fit every generation or seating configuration, and accessories should not be treated as included in the VXi or ZXi+ price unless they appear on the written quotation.
Maruti Suzuki’s official site also surfaces Genuine Accessories and Genuine Parts services. Use those channels to identify the correct part reference, then compare the installed price and warranty terms with any third-party alternative. Keep accessory costs outside the trim comparison so an optional bundle does not make one variant appear cheaper or better equipped than it actually is.

How to compare the real on-road cost
Because the official figures are starting prices, a useful comparison requires two itemized quotes prepared on the same date and for the same fuel and gearbox type.
- Specify the exact variants: ask for Ertiga VXi petrol manual and Ertiga ZXi+ petrol manual, not an automatic or CNG alternative.
- Request the dated ex-showroom price: record the price shown on the invoice or quotation and ask whether a scheme is conditional on financing, exchange or stock age.
- Add statutory and local charges: have registration, road tax, insurance and any applicable local fees listed separately rather than accepting a single unexplained total.
- Check dealer-added items: ask which handling, accessories or protection products are optional and which are legally required, then compare both quotes on the same basis.
- Confirm the final invoice rule: the official page says prevailing invoice or bill prices and schemes apply, so a quotation made earlier may not be the amount billed later.
- Verify the physical vehicle: match the variant, model year and equipment against the vehicle identification number and inspect that the touchscreen, headlamp controls and interior finish correspond to the trim ordered.
This process prevents a discounted ZXi+ quote from being compared with a full-price VXi quote, or a petrol-manual price from being compared with a different fuel or transmission.

The July 2025 brochure states “3 years / 100 000 km WARRANTY” and says it is extendable up to six years. Treat that as the brochure’s stated coverage, not as a substitute for the warranty booklet and the terms attached to the particular sale. Ask the dealer to confirm whether the extension is available for the vehicle you are buying, its price, the time or mileage limit for purchase, servicing requirements, exclusions and transfer rules.
Keep the warranty discussion separate from the trim decision. VXi and ZXi+ are petrol-manual grades of the same vehicle family in this comparison; the equipment upgrade does not, by itself, establish different coverage. Obtain the applicable written terms before paying a booking amount. Retain the quotation, booking form, invoice and warranty documents together, particularly if the vehicle is delivered after a model-year or price change.

Maruti Suzuki described the compact MPV segment in an April 2022 company release as growing at a 4.7% compound annual growth rate and quoted Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi saying: “Ertiga’s launch 10 years ago was a significant moment in the Indian automobile industry, as it created a new segment that has been growing at a CAGR of 4.7%.” That is the company’s 2022 statement, not an independently verified current market statistic, and it does not change the VXi-versus-ZXi+ equipment calculation.

What warranty is stated for the Ertiga?
The July 2025 brochure states three years or 100,000 km and says coverage is extendable up to six years. Confirm the current booklet, extension price, eligibility, exclusions and servicing conditions with the dealer.
Are accessories such as floor mats included in either trim?
Do not assume they are included. Accessories are separate unless listed on the written quote. Check model-year and variant compatibility for floor mats and compare Genuine Accessories or Parts pricing with alternatives.

Bottom line: VXi MT delivers the same listed petrol-manual engine, gearbox, seven-seat layout and 20.51 km/l figure for ₹1,83,800 less at the official starting price. ZXi+ MT is worth considering only when its SmartPlay Pro touchscreen, wireless phone integration, Arkamys audio, automatic headlamps and upgraded cabin finish matter enough to justify the premium. Compare dated, itemized on-road quotes before booking.
