The ElectriX is a compact Class B+ motorhome series that pairs a conventional Fiat Ducato diesel drivetrain with electric motors built into the rear wheels. According to a launch report published by New Atlas on October 3, 2024, drivers can select diesel front-wheel drive or electric rear-wheel drive at the push of a button. The report called it the “world’s first” in-wheel hybrid RV; that is the launch report’s claim, not independently verified market history.
How the ElectriX hybrid RV works
The system retains the Fiat Ducato’s front-mounted diesel engine and front-wheel-drive hardware, then adds a separate electric powertrain at the rear. Bedeo’s reported setup uses two 115-kW in-wheel motors and a 37-kWh battery mounted under the floor. The battery can be charged through regenerative braking or external charging, according to the launch report.
Rather than describing a single blended hybrid mode, the report says the driver can switch between the existing diesel front-wheel-drive system and electric rear-wheel drive using a push button. These are specifications and operating details reported at launch, not findings from an independent road test.
Models, dimensions and living space
The ElectriX series was announced for four motorhomes sold under Trigano’s Challenger and Chausson brands. The model names and lengths reported in October 2024 are:

The 599-cm X150 and X550 layout
New Atlas describes the X150/X550 design as wider and roomier than a conventional camper van while keeping a relatively compact footprint. Its reported layout has a two-bench dinette that converts into a 190 x 140 cm double bed, a lift-away double bed of the same dimensions, and a full-width rear bathroom. The layout is described as sleeping four.
The launch report does not give comparable layout details for the longer X250 and X650, so the X150/X550 floor plan should not be assumed to apply to those variants.
Reported electric and total range
Bedeo’s stated electric-only range was up to 100 km (62 miles), presented as an estimate. New Atlas noted a 117-km figure on a video still but reported that Bedeo’s official announcement gave 100 km; the official estimate is the more appropriate headline figure. The report also gives an estimated combined electric-and-diesel range of 700–900 km (435–559 miles).
These are launch-era company and publication figures, not independently measured results. The source does not provide test conditions, real-world consumption data, or a variant-by-variant range breakdown, so the estimates should not be treated as guaranteed trip distances.

Launch-era price and what is not established
New Atlas reported an October 2024 launch base price of €99,990 for ElectriX models. For comparison, it cited €74,990 for a standard Challenger X150 with the 2.2-liter MultiJet engine. Both are historical reported prices, not current quotes. Present-day pricing, dealer stock, order markets, and availability are not established by that report.
The announcement described Bedeo as partnering with French motorhome group Trigano to offer ElectriX models through its Challenger and Chausson brands. It does not establish which markets currently sell them or whether a particular dealer can order one.

What the “world’s first” claim means
The defining feature in the launch coverage is the use of electric rear in-wheel motors alongside the retained diesel front drivetrain, allowing the vehicle to switch between rear electric drive and front diesel drive. New Atlas presented the ElectriX as the world’s first RV with that arrangement, but its article does not provide a market-wide historical survey that independently verifies the superlative.
Bedeo founder and CEO Osman Boyner said, as quoted by New Atlas: “Our partnership with Trigano Group marks a significant step in transforming the camper van market toward a more sustainable future,” and “Bedeo’s electrification technology empowers adventurers to explore nature responsibly, offering the perfect balance between eco-conscious travel and long-range performance.” Those are company statements; the launch report supplies no independent assessment of environmental impact.
