The available award entries list three Electric Era sites totaling $2,368,541—not $4.3 million—so that larger figure is not confirmed by the cited state records.
What Washington awarded
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced on January 29, 2026, that it is awarding $12.16 million in federal National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Round 1 funding to five companies. The awards are intended to install, operate and maintain 96 direct-current fast-charging ports across 14 planned stations on I-90, US 97, US 195 and US 395. WSDOT’s announcement names Electric Era, Energy Northwest, EV Gateway, EVgo and Tesla as recipients.
The funding covers more than charger equipment: WSDOT describes the grant scope as including installation, operation and maintenance. The cited records do not state the projects’ total costs, so the grant amounts should not be treated as full project budgets.
Electric Era’s listed site awards
WSDOT’s NEVI program page lists these three Electric Era site awards in the surfaced award table:

The amounts and locations are listed on WSDOT’s NEVI grant page. The table entries shown total $2,368,541, but the available record does not establish that they represent Electric Era’s complete award portfolio. Accordingly, they do not verify a $4.3 million company total.
What the award does—and does not—establish
WSDOT’s stated purpose is to fill gaps in highway charging access. Secretary of Transportation Julie Meredith said the projects “fill key gaps in the state’s highway EV charging network and will make electric vehicle travel even more convenient.” That is the department’s rationale; it is not evidence that the planned stations are already open or that travel convenience has yet changed.

The cited announcement and program details identify planned corridors and the overall number of stations and ports, but do not provide Electric Era’s site-level port counts, charger models, matching contributions, construction schedules or opening dates. They also do not establish whether the $4.3 million figure refers to another set of awards, a broader project amount or a different funding category. WSDOT said state NEVI award announcements had been paused by federal officials in 2025; the January 2026 announcement describes the subsequent Round 1 awards.

Highway charging installations depend on the location, not just the charger itself. Seattle City Light’s separate charger-replacement program identifies electrical capacity, available space and existing infrastructure as site considerations. That offers general context for deployment; it is not evidence about Electric Era’s equipment choice or design at any of the listed locations.
