The October 2, 2026 Electrek Podcast preview centers on a rescheduled Tesla Roadster event, Tesla’s third-quarter delivery report, EV deliveries in the US, and a battery-swap industry story. The key distinctions: October 15 is the new date for a Roadster event, not a customer delivery date, and Tesla’s 486,532 Q3 deliveries were worldwide company totals—not a count of US EV sales.
What the October 2 Electrek Podcast covers
The episode preview lists the Roadster delay, EV deliveries, and battery swapping among its lead topics. It also includes Rivian’s R2 ramp, Tesla’s Q3 deliveries and Model 3 changes, a plugged-in drive-away capability, a Tesla patent, shareholder voting, Ford’s Fathom pickup, a new BMW i3, BYD, Hyundai, and Aptera. These are agenda items in the preview, not independent confirmation of each underlying story. Electrek’s podcast preview says the show is live Fridays at 4 p.m. ET, with archived video and audio available afterward.
Why the Tesla Roadster event was delayed
TechCrunch reported on September 28, 2026, that Tesla moved its planned October 1 Roadster event to October 15, citing severe weather and the event’s outdoor setting. That is a change to the event schedule; it does not establish a production start or a date when customers will receive cars. TechCrunch reported the rescheduling, but the available reporting does not establish a current customer delivery date.
What Tesla advertises for the Roadster
Tesla’s Roadster page advertises 0–60 mph acceleration in 1.9 seconds, a top speed above 250 mph, and 620 miles of range. Those are Tesla’s stated product figures, not independently verified production-car results, and they do not answer when deliveries will begin. The page offers reservation and update options, but no current delivery schedule is established by the cited material.

What Tesla’s Q3 2026 delivery report says—and does not say
Tesla reported 486,532 vehicle deliveries worldwide in Q3 2026, alongside 464,391 vehicles produced. Its delivery breakdown was 478,237 Model 3/Y vehicles and 8,295 in the company’s “Other Models” category. These are company-reported global totals, not US-wide EV delivery figures. Tesla’s investor relations site published the Q3 delivery release.
Tesla cautioned that delivery counts and energy-storage deployments are only two measures of its performance and should not be relied on as an indicator of quarterly financial results. The company scheduled its full Q3 financial results for October 21, 2026. The podcast preview’s mention of EV deliveries in the US is a separate topic: the cited information does not provide an authoritative current US-wide total, so Tesla’s worldwide figure cannot stand in for it.

What the preview says about battery swapping
The episode preview describes a story in which NIO sold 30% of its battery-swap unit to Geely for more than $2 billion. The available material does not include a primary announcement or sufficiently detailed independent reporting to verify those transaction terms. Treat the figures as the preview’s description, rather than a confirmed deal detail. This is an industry/company story, not an identified consumer battery-swap product or buying recommendation.
