In March 2024, EHang’s EH216-S passenger-carrying pilotless aircraft was reported as available for purchase on China’s Taobao marketplace. That is a historical listing report—not confirmation that it can still be bought online today. EHang announced a China suggested retail price of RMB2.39 million per unit, effective 1 April 2024; the cited sources do not establish a current checkout price or a completed sale.
What flying taxi was listed on Taobao?
The aircraft was EHang’s EH216-S, a passenger-carrying electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft designed to fly without an onboard pilot. Gizmochina reported on 21 March 2024 that it had launched on Taobao, China’s online marketplace. The report confirms the news at that time, but it does not establish that a listing remains active in October 2026.

How much did the EH216-S cost?
EHang announced a suggested retail price of RMB2.39 million per unit for the EH216-S in China, effective 1 April 2024. This is the manufacturer’s announced suggested price, not evidence of a present offer, final transaction price, or what a buyer would pay under particular purchase terms. Gizmochina also gave a US-dollar conversion in its 2024 coverage; the official announcement states the price in renminbi, which is the more reliable figure to use.

Does aircraft certification mean an owner can offer paid flights?
No. Certification of an aircraft and authorization for an operator are separate milestones. EHang announced that the EH216-S received a CAAC type certificate on 13 October 2023. On 21 December 2023, it announced the standard airworthiness certificate and delivery of a certified aircraft to a customer in Guangzhou. These milestones concern the aircraft; they do not by themselves establish that every purchaser can operate paid passenger flights.

For commercial passenger service, the operator also needs the relevant authorization. EHang said that Guangdong EHang General Aviation Co., Ltd., Hefei Heyi Aviation Co., Ltd., and its Hefei joint venture received the first batch of Air Operator Certificates for civil human-carrying pilotless aircraft on 28 March 2025. The company describes certificate-holding operators as authorized to conduct commercial operations offering paid human-carrying services.
