The Dust Moto Hightail is an electric off-road motorcycle that Dust currently advertises for preorder. Its official page lists preliminary specifications including 42 hp, a 4.4 kWh swappable battery, a claimed 40-mile range at a 25 mph cruise, and a 235 lb weight. Those are manufacturer figures—not independently verified test results. Dust’s December 2025 update described beta-bike testing, but neither that update nor the current product page confirms customer delivery timing.
What is the Dust Moto Hightail?
Dust Moto presents the Hightail as a high-performance electric dirt bike for off-road riding. The company highlights clutchless operation, customizable ride modes and a swappable battery. Its product page currently has a preorder call to action and labels the published specifications “Preliminary data.” Dust Moto’s Hightail page does not establish that the bike is shipping or give confirmed current delivery timing.
Dust describes the Hightail as “Proudly built in America” and calls its business “American Electric Moto.” Those are the company’s own positioning and manufacturing claims; they are not an independent audit of where or how the bike is made. Dust Moto’s homepage

#1 Best Overall
- High-Efficiency Mid-Drive Motor: Powered by a cutting-edge 4000W peak mid-drive motor, delivers a superior riding experience compared to standard hub motors. Exceptional balance and agile handling. The mid-drive system leverages the bike’s existing gears to provide massive torque for climbing steep hills, rather than fighting against the wheel. With a thrilling top speed of 43 MPH, this setup solves the problem of poor weight distribution and sluggish climbing power found in traditional hub motor designs, giving you professional-grade control and explosive acceleration on rough terrain.
- Advanced Hydraulic Braking System: Front and rear hydraulic disc brakes deliver superior safety and control. Unlike mechanical cable brakes—which need constant adjustment and fade under stress—this system offers consistent, powerful stopping with a single-finger pull. Precision braking ensures instant stops on steep descents or wet, muddy trails. By eliminating brake fade and reducing stopping distances, it solves a critical safety issue, giving riders the confidence to push their limits with reliable, immediate stopping authority at all times.
- High-Capacity Long-Range Battery: Equipped with a high-performance 60V/27AH lithium battery, this dirt bike allows you to explore further without the constant anxiety of running out of power. Offering a maximum range of up to 60 miles on a single charge, it effectively solves the problem of “range anxiety” that plagues lesser electric dirt bikes. Whether you are tackling a full day of trail riding or commuting across town, this robust battery ensures you have the endurance to finish your journey.
- Advanced Suspension System: Conquer rough terrain with a rear nitrogen shock and front hydraulic forks. The nitrogen shock resists overheating and pressure shifts during aggressive riding, delivering consistent damping over jumps and rocks. Front hydraulic forks absorb high-frequency impacts to reduce arm fatigue. Together, they eliminate jarring landings and loss of control on uneven ground, providing a smooth, stable ride with optimal traction.
- Safety Guidelines & Rider Responsibility: Proper assembly and safety protocols are essential. Recommended for riders aged 14+. Minors must be closely supervised. Always wear a certified helmet, goggles, gloves, and protective pads. Before riding, check all bolts, tire pressure, and brakes. Obey local traffic laws and ride only in designated off-road areas where electric dirt bikes are permitted. Ride responsibly to protect yourself, your investment, and the sport's reputation.

Motor torque and wheel torque describe different points in the drivetrain, so they should not be treated as interchangeable comparison figures. The 660 Nm wheel-torque claim is listed alongside an 11:1 reduction.
How much range does the Hightail have?
Dust claims 40 miles at a steady 25 mph cruise. That is a manufacturer-stated condition, not a general real-world range promise. The published figure does not specify variables such as terrain, rider weight, temperature or riding style, so it cannot establish how far the bike will travel on a particular trail or at higher speeds.

Battery and charging claims
Dust says the 4.4 kWh battery is swappable in under a minute, is IP67 rated, and can exceed 600 discharge cycles while retaining 80% capacity. These are manufacturer claims; independent battery testing and a retail replacement-battery price or availability are not established by the cited product information.
What does the beta-testing update establish?
In a company update dated December 17, 2025, Dust said it was riding beta bikes on trails, refining power delivery, expanding the planned ride-mode count from three to five, and working on controller cooling after reporting overheating during hot, flat-out track use. The update also reported 44 hp at the wheel in mode 3 during dyno testing. These are Dust’s reports about beta development, not an independent test or a confirmed specification for customer bikes. How much does the Dust Moto Hightail cost, and when will it arrive?
The current product page presents a preorder path but does not establish a current price, deposit terms or delivery date. Cycle News reported on December 4, 2024 that Dust announced a $10,950 price, a $100 refundable preorder deposit and expected initial deliveries in late 2025. Those were launch-era terms and an estimate, not evidence of today’s price or availability. Cycle News, December 4, 2024
Dust’s dealer page describes a launch through a select dealer group and invites prospective distribution partners to contact the company, but the page text does not provide a public dealer list. Dust Moto dealer information

How should you compare the Hightail with other electric dirt bikes?
The Hightail’s published numbers provide a starting point, but a fair comparison requires matching conditions and distinguishing claims from measured results. No comparable current competitor specifications or prices are established here, so the figures do not support naming a class winner.
- Price and delivery: compare current purchase terms and actual delivery status, with date and region.
- Range: put the claimed or measured distance beside speed, terrain, rider and temperature conditions.
- Power and torque: separate peak power, motor torque and wheel torque rather than comparing unlike figures.
- Fit and handling: compare weight, seat height and wheel setup against the rider and intended terrain.
- Battery ownership: check capacity, removability, recharge time, replacement cost and availability.
- Chassis and upkeep: compare suspension travel, brakes, service access, warranty and parts supply.
- Where it can be ridden: consider noise, intended use and the rules at the specific riding location.
Is the Hightail street legal, and is it greener?
Dust presents the Hightail as an off-road motorcycle. The cited product information does not establish road-registration certification, insurance requirements or eligibility for public lands in any jurisdiction. Check local motor-vehicle requirements and the rules of the relevant land manager before riding; an off-road product description alone does not establish where it is legally usable.
An electric drivetrain avoids tailpipe exhaust while the bike is operating, and Dust emphasizes low noise and less drivetrain maintenance. The available company materials do not quantify lifecycle emissions, compare electricity sources or provide independent noise measurements for the production bike, so they do not support a broader quantified environmental claim.
Cycle News quoted Dust founder and CEO Colin Godby on December 4, 2024: “Teaching people to ride an electric dirt bike is easier; they pick it up more quickly, and without the noise, a lot more riding opportunities become available.” That is Godby’s view, not independently established comparative research.
