Ducati SuperSport 950 vs Ninja H2 SX SE: Which Rider Should Choose Which?

Neither motorcycle is the universal winner. The Ducati SuperSport 950 is a comparatively light, lower-output road-sport bike with an 810 mm listed seat height and an optional touring package. Kawasaki’s 2026 U.S.-specification Ninja H2 SX SE ABS is a 207-hp supercharged sport-tourer with substantially more standard touring technology. Choose the Ducati for a focused road-sport character, easier claimed seat height and a simpler accessory-based touring plan; choose the Kawasaki when long-distance pace, passenger equipment and integrated electronic convenience matter most.

Those conclusions come from manufacturer specifications and positioning, not a side-by-side road test. Actual comfort, steering feel, heat, reach to the ground, wind protection and enjoyment require riding both motorcycles in the exact model year and market you intend to buy.

What these motorcycles are designed to do

The name “SuperSport” can make the Ducati sound like a direct superbike rival, but Ducati positions the SuperSport 950 as a road-sport motorcycle. Its 937 cc liquid-cooled Testastretta 11° L-twin produces 110 hp (81 kW) at 9,000 rpm and 93 Nm (69 lb-ft) at 6,500 rpm. The motorcycle is intended to deliver sporting performance on public roads without the extreme riding position or output of a track-focused superbike.

Kawasaki positions the Ninja H2 SX as a supercharged sport-tourer. The 2026 U.S. Ninja H2 SX SE ABS specification lists a 998 cc liquid-cooled supercharged inline-four producing 207.0 hp at 10,000 rpm and 101.0 lb-ft at 8,500 rpm. Kawasaki’s official description calls it “a supercharged sport tourer” equipped to cover long distances in comfort. That is manufacturer positioning, not independent proof that it is more comfortable than the Ducati.

The two bikes therefore solve different problems. The Ducati emphasizes road-sport proportions and a manageable power level; the Kawasaki combines very high performance with electronic suspension, rider-assistance systems and touring conveniences. A specification sheet can establish that difference, but it cannot establish which motorcycle handles better or feels more enjoyable to a particular rider.

Engine performance: 110 hp versus 207 hp

Ducati’s 937 cc L-twin

The SuperSport 950’s 110 hp arrives at 9,000 rpm, with 93 Nm (69 lb-ft) at 6,500 rpm. That is a substantial amount of performance for public-road use, while the twin-cylinder layout gives the Ducati a different delivery and sound from the Kawasaki’s inline four. The published figures do not reveal throttle calibration, gearing, heat management or how usable the torque feels in a particular gear, so do not treat peak power as a complete riding assessment.

Kawasaki’s supercharged inline four

The H2 SX SE’s 207.0 hp at 10,000 rpm is almost twice the Ducati’s listed peak horsepower, and its 101.0 lb-ft arrives at 8,500 rpm. The forced-induction engine gives Kawasaki a very large performance reserve for overtaking, high-speed touring and two-up riding. That reserve can be attractive if you regularly carry luggage or a passenger, but it also means the rider must be comfortable managing a much higher-output motorcycle. More horsepower does not automatically make a motorcycle safer, easier or more rewarding on ordinary roads.

How to use the output difference

  • Choose the Ducati’s output concept if your priority is engaging road riding without buying a machine whose headline specification is dominated by supercharged acceleration.
  • Choose the Kawasaki if effortless high-speed acceleration, carrying load and maintaining pace on open highways are central to your use.
  • Do not infer fuel economy, insurance cost, heat or reliability from horsepower figures; none of those comparisons is established by the cited material.

Seat height, reach and riding position

Ducati lists an 810 mm seat height for the SuperSport 950. Kawasaki lists 32.9 inches for the 2026 U.S. H2 SX SE ABS, which is about 836 mm. The Ducati therefore has the lower published seat figure, a potentially important advantage for shorter riders or anyone who prefers a more secure foot placement at stops.

Seat height is only one part of fit. Seat width, suspension sag, tank shape, handlebar position, footpeg location, boot sole thickness and the rider’s inseam can change the effective reach. A lower number does not guarantee that one motorcycle will feel easier to balance. Sit on both with the suspension loaded, turn the bars fully, place one foot down and check whether you can move the bike backward without strain.

Fit checks before purchase

  • Wear the boots and riding trousers you actually use.
  • Check both feet, then a deliberate one-foot stop with the other foot on the peg.
  • Reach the clutch, brake and switchgear without stretching or rotating your shoulders.
  • Hold the handlebars at full lock and verify that your knees and wrists remain comfortable.
  • Ask the dealer to demonstrate the standard suspension setting and any available preload adjustment before judging the static stance.

Only a test ride can reveal whether the Ducati’s road-sport posture or the Kawasaki’s sport-touring layout suits your back, hips, wrists and neck over an hour or more.

Electronics and rider assistance

SuperSport 950 equipment

Ducati lists riding modes and power modes, cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, a full-TFT display, an adjustable windscreen and up/down Ducati Quick Shift. These systems let the rider tailor response and manage braking and acceleration intervention, but the list does not indicate how each mode feels or whether every item is standard on every market variant. The U.S. page presents both SuperSport 950 and 950 S versions and warns that displayed equipment may depict European specifications.

Ninja H2 SX SE equipment

The 2026 U.S. specification lists adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, forward-collision warning, vehicle hold assist, tire-pressure monitoring, heated grips and Kawasaki’s KECS semi-active electronic suspension with Showa Skyhook. Kawasaki describes KECS as adapting damping to road and riding conditions in real time. These features are particularly relevant to highway touring, changing weather and two-up travel, but an equipment list cannot prove the quality of an alert, the smoothness of cruise control or the usefulness of a suspension calibration for your roads.

What the electronics difference means

Kawasaki integrates more named touring and convenience aids in the cited U.S. specification. Ducati concentrates on core sporting rider aids and leaves much of the touring transformation to accessories. If you want adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring, vehicle hold assist and semi-active suspension without adding a package, the Kawasaki has the stronger published feature set. If you prefer fewer touring systems and want to select only the equipment you need, the Ducati’s approach may be more appropriate.

Touring, passenger and luggage requirements

Ducati’s accessory route

Ducati describes an official SuperSport Touring package containing an aerodynamic touring windscreen, heated grips and expandable side panniers. The cited U.S. package page lists SuperSport 950 and 950 S model years 2021–2023. Ducati also lists plastic side panniers for SuperSport 950 and 950 S through model year 2024. The accessory listing gives 22+3 litres of capacity per side and a maximum load of 5 kg per side.

Those capacities are useful for light touring, but they are not a substitute for checking passenger comfort, rack limits and exact fitment. Confirm the model year, part numbers and current availability with a dealer before assuming that a package will fit a particular motorcycle. The published accessory part numbers are 96782321A, 96781681A and 96781132B.

Kawasaki’s integrated sport-touring concept

Kawasaki explicitly frames the H2 SX around long-distance travel and lists touring-oriented equipment in the motorcycle’s U.S. specification. Heated grips, TPMS, adaptive cruise control, vehicle hold assist and semi-active suspension reduce the number of separate touring decisions a buyer has to make. The cited material does not provide a pannier volume, maximum luggage load or passenger-seat measurement, so obtain those details for the exact U.S. model before planning a trip.

Passenger decision

If frequent two-up travel is a primary requirement, compare the passenger seat, grab handles, footpeg position, available luggage and suspension setup in person. The Kawasaki’s output and sport-tourer equipment suggest a strong long-distance use case, but the sources do not establish a comparative comfort winner. The Ducati can be configured for touring, yet its road-sport identity means you should verify passenger space rather than assume the accessory package changes the underlying ergonomics.

Maintenance and ownership information

Published Ducati intervals

Ducati states that the SuperSport’s routine service interval is every 9,000 miles or 12 months, with valve-clearance checks every 18,000 miles. Ducati’s own wording is: “The Ducati Testastretta 11° twin-cylinder engine has service intervals every 9,000 miles, or 12 months, with valve clearance checks every 18,000 miles.” These are scheduled intervals, not a complete estimate of annual ownership cost.

What is not established for Kawasaki

The gathered Kawasaki pages do not provide a comparable maintenance interval or service cost. You should ask a Kawasaki dealer for the 2026 U.S. maintenance schedule, inspection items, labor estimates and parts pricing. It would be inaccurate to claim that the H2 SX costs more or less to maintain than the Ducati without that information.

Other costs to verify

  • Insurance can differ sharply because the Kawasaki has 207 hp and a higher U.S. MSRP.
  • Destination, setup, documentation, taxes, title, registration and dealer charges are not included in a simple MSRP comparison.
  • Tires, chains, brake components and fuel consumption depend on riding style and conditions; the cited sources do not provide a side-by-side estimate.
  • Accessory pricing and availability can change by model year and market.

Price and market caveats

Kawasaki’s 2026 U.S. Ninja H2 SX SE ABS specification sheet lists an MSRP of $29,999. That is a U.S. manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the stated model year, not a guaranteed transaction price or a worldwide figure.

Ducati’s U.S. page displays prices for the SuperSport variants, but the final dealer amount can vary with options, taxes, title, registration, destination and dealer charges. The two published figures should therefore not be presented as a complete ownership-cost comparison. Confirm both motorcycles’ model year, exact variant, destination charge and on-road quote in the same market before deciding.

Do not silently substitute Kawasaki’s U.K. figure of 200 PS for the U.S. specification’s 207.0 hp. Horsepower units, certification and equipment can differ by market. Ducati also cautions that its displayed models may depict European specifications and that equipment can vary by market.

Which one is better for each type of rider?

Choose the Ducati SuperSport 950 when

  • You want a road-sport motorcycle rather than a full supercharged sport-tourer.
  • The listed 810 mm seat height gives you a better starting point for fit.
  • 110 hp is sufficient for your roads and you value a lower-output sporting concept.
  • You prefer to add touring equipment only when needed.
  • You are prepared to verify passenger room and pannier fit rather than assuming the Touring package makes it a dedicated tourer.

Choose the Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX SE when

  • You specifically want supercharged acceleration and 207.0 hp in the 2026 U.S. specification.
  • Long highway trips, luggage and regular passenger use are central to your riding.
  • Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, forward-collision warning, vehicle hold assist, TPMS, heated grips and semi-active suspension are priorities.
  • The 32.9-inch listed seat height and larger motorcycle feel work for your body after an actual test ride.
  • The $29,999 U.S. MSRP fits your budget before taxes, fees, insurance and accessories.

When neither specification settles the choice

If your main question is which bike handles better, feels more comfortable or is more enjoyable on your favorite roads, the cited specifications cannot answer it. Those are ride-test questions. A rider who values light-feeling responses and moderate road speed may prefer the Ducati; another who enjoys abundant acceleration and electronic touring support may prefer the Kawasaki. Those are use-case conclusions, not objective rankings.

A practical test-ride plan

  1. Confirm the exact motorcycles. Record model year, 950 versus 950 S for Ducati, U.S. versus another market, standard equipment and fitted accessories.
  2. Set the controls. Adjust levers, mirrors, windscreen and available suspension settings before moving off.
  3. Test low-speed balance. Perform walking-speed turns, a full-lock maneuver and a stop on a slight camber to evaluate reach and mass.
  4. Ride the same route. Use city traffic, a flowing road, a rough surface and a highway section if legal and safe. Keep speed and route comparable.
  5. Evaluate the systems. On the Kawasaki, assess cruise-control engagement, alerts, vehicle hold assist, heated grips and suspension modes. On the Ducati, compare riding and power modes, quick-shifter operation, windscreen position and TFT readability.
  6. Check sustained comfort. Ride long enough to identify wrist, hip, knee, neck and seat pressure rather than judging from a dealership lap.
  7. Repeat with load assumptions. Sit in the passenger position if possible, inspect luggage mounting and ask how suspension preload changes with a passenger and bags.
  8. Get written ownership numbers. Request an itemized out-the-door price, service schedule, accessory fitment and warranty terms for the exact unit.

Questions to ask the dealer

  • Is this motorcycle built to U.S. specifications, and which equipment differs from the product-page images?
  • What is the complete out-the-door price after destination, setup, documentation, taxes and registration?
  • For the Ducati, does the Touring package or each pannier part number fit this model year?
  • For the Kawasaki, what are the official service intervals, valve-train inspection requirements and estimated labor costs?
  • What suspension settings are recommended for solo riding, luggage and two-up use?
  • Can I test the motorcycle with the windscreen, panniers or passenger equipment I plan to use?

Bottom line

The Ducati SuperSport 950 is the better match for a rider seeking a road-sport motorcycle, a lower listed seat and 110-hp performance with optional touring equipment. The Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX SE is the better match for a rider who wants a 207-hp supercharged engine and a factory-integrated sport-touring electronics package. Neither is objectively better for every rider, and no specification table can replace a proper fit check and back-to-back test ride.
