There is no single winner. Choose the Ducati Streetfighter V2 if you want Ducati’s current lighter, higher-output naked motorcycle and accept full wind exposure. Choose the Ducati SuperSport 950 if a fairing and adjustable windscreen matter more than the Streetfighter’s published power-to-weight advantage. This comparison uses Ducati’s current U.S. Streetfighter V2 MY25 page and its U.S. SuperSport 950 page, which covers standard and S trims; model-year, market and equipment differences can change the answer.
What the comparison actually covers
The name SuperSport is incomplete without a year and trim. The figures below compare the current U.S. Ducati Streetfighter V2 MY25 with the Ducati SuperSport 950 in standard and 950 S forms. Ducati’s U.S. pages are the primary source for the specifications and the Streetfighter prices shown here: Streetfighter V2 and SuperSport 950.

Older Streetfighter V2 model years are not interchangeable with the MY25 motorcycle. Ducati has also published a separate media announcement with slightly different weight presentations, so this article keeps the U.S. product-page figures together rather than combining numbers from different markets. Regional equipment, taxes, pricing and availability require a check with your local Ducati site or dealer.

Design: a naked streetfighter against a faired road-sport bike
Streetfighter V2: exposed mechanicals and a wide handlebar
The Streetfighter V2 has no fairings and uses a high, wide handlebar. Ducati’s own description, No fairings, no filters, captures the format: the engine, frame and much of the front hardware are exposed rather than enclosed in aerodynamic bodywork. That makes the motorcycle visually and functionally different from a faired sport bike, not simply a SuperSport with panels removed. The unfaired layout gives the rider direct wind exposure at every speed; how tiring or enjoyable that feels depends on the rider, weather, speed and preferred riding position.
SuperSport 950: fairing and adjustable windscreen
Ducati calls the SuperSport 950 its road sports bike. Both the standard and S versions use a full fairing and an adjustable windscreen. The screen gives you a way to alter the airflow rather than accepting the fixed exposure of a naked motorcycle. It does not establish a guaranteed comfort level for every rider: height, helmet, torso length and screen position all change the result. The fairing also creates a different visual identity and may be the deciding feature for riders who regularly cover faster roads.
What the bodywork difference can and cannot tell you
It is reasonable to treat the adjustable screen as the SuperSport’s clearest practical equipment advantage for wind management and the Streetfighter’s unfaired design as its clearest styling and exposure choice. It is not reasonable to infer a precise cruising speed, noise level or long-distance comfort ranking from the product descriptions alone. Neither Ducati page is a controlled comfort comparison.
Engine and published performance figures
Streetfighter V2 output
The MY25 Streetfighter V2 uses an 890 cc V2 engine. Ducati lists 120 hp for both the standard and S versions, with 69 lb-ft of torque. The two Streetfighter trims therefore share the headline engine output; paying for the S changes equipment, suspension and battery details rather than the published horsepower figure.
SuperSport 950 output
The SuperSport 950 uses a larger 937 cc Testastretta L-twin. Ducati lists 110 hp at 9,000 rpm and 69 lb-ft at 6,500 rpm for both the standard and 950 S. The extra displacement does not produce a higher listed peak output than the 890 cc Streetfighter. Displacement alone is not a performance verdict, because gearing, engine calibration, aerodynamics, rider input and operating conditions also matter.
Do the numbers prove which bike is faster?
No. The published figures establish that the Streetfighter has 10 more listed horsepower and that both families are listed at the same peak torque figure, with Ducati giving the SuperSport’s torque speed. They do not provide acceleration times, top speed, dyno results or a controlled ride comparison. Treat 120 hp versus 110 hp as a specification difference, not as a promise of a particular gap on the road or track.

Weight and chassis implications
Published weights
On Ducati’s current U.S. pages, the standard Streetfighter V2 is listed at 392 lb (178 kg) wet without fuel, while the V2 S is 386 lb (175 kg) on the same basis. Both SuperSport 950 trims are listed at 452 lb (205 kg) wet without fuel. On those consistently stated figures, the Streetfighter standard is 60 lb lighter than either SuperSport and the S is 66 lb lighter.
A wet weight without fuel is useful for comparing the entries in this table, but it is not a complete riding-load figure. Fuel, accessories, luggage and a rider add mass. Distribution and center of gravity also influence how a motorcycle feels, so the numerical difference does not by itself prove a handling result, braking distance or low-speed advantage.
Why another Ducati source shows different kilograms
Ducati Media House separately lists the standard Streetfighter at 177 kg kerb weight without fuel and the S at 176 kg. Those values do not exactly match the 178 kg and 175 kg figures on the current U.S. product page. The difference may reflect specification presentation or a market or configuration change. For a U.S. purchase, use one source consistently and confirm the exact motorcycle’s specification sheet rather than silently mixing the values. The announcement is available at Ducati Media House.
Suspension and trim equipment
Streetfighter V2 standard versus V2 S
The standard Streetfighter uses a fully adjustable Marzocchi front fork and a Kayaba rear shock. The V2 S moves to Öhlins suspension and adds a lithium battery. Since both versions retain the 890 cc engine and 120 hp claim, the S premium is primarily an equipment and chassis decision. The U.S. page lists the standard and S at different weights and prices, so compare the complete motorcycles rather than assuming the S is only a cosmetic package.
The S is configured as a single-seat motorcycle, with a passenger kit available as an accessory. If you need two-up use, verify that the kit is supplied, legal in your market and compatible with the specific model year before treating the S as a passenger bike.

The standard SuperSport 950 uses Marzocchi suspension, while the 950 S uses Öhlins equipment. The SuperSport page also lists a passenger-seat cowl on the S. A cowl changes the rear-seat presentation and should not be confused with a passenger seat or a complete two-up setup. Confirm the local seat and footrest configuration if carrying a passenger is part of your plan.

Compare equivalent trims
The fairest equipment comparison is standard Streetfighter against standard SuperSport, or V2 S against 950 S. Comparing a base Streetfighter with a 950 S can make the SuperSport appear to have more premium hardware simply because the trims are mismatched; comparing a V2 S with a base SuperSport reverses that bias. Ask the dealer for an itemized list of suspension, battery, seat and accessory equipment for the exact stock number.
Ergonomics, wind and everyday use
Wind exposure
The SuperSport’s adjustable windscreen is the only one of these four configurations with a factory feature specifically intended to alter airflow. The Streetfighter’s naked front end has no fairing to perform that job. Riders who spend substantial time on exposed, faster roads may therefore place a higher value on the SuperSport regardless of the Streetfighter’s lower listed weight.
Handlebar and rider fit
Ducati identifies the Streetfighter’s handlebar as high and wide. That is a design description, not a promise that it will fit every body type. Reach to the grips, knee bend, seat shape, wind pressure and the ability to put a foot down are personal measurements. The available sources do not contain a controlled fit or comfort test, so sit on both motorcycles in the riding gear you actually use.
Passenger plans
Passenger equipment differs by trim: the Streetfighter V2 S is single-seat with a passenger kit available separately, while the SuperSport 950 S page lists a passenger-seat cowl. Neither detail alone establishes which motorcycle is more comfortable for a passenger. Check whether the exact local motorcycle includes a usable passenger seat, pegs and grab points, then evaluate the passenger position in person.
Low-speed confidence and maneuvering
The Streetfighter’s lower published mass may make it attractive to riders who prioritize moving a motorcycle around a garage or parking area, but the sources do not measure steering effort, balance or turning radius. Seat height, bar leverage, fuel load and rider technique can outweigh a paper weight difference. Use a slow-speed test ride or supervised dealer maneuver to answer this question for your body and experience.
Prices, geography and ownership costs
What the U.S. pages list
Ducati’s U.S. Streetfighter page displays $15,995 for the standard V2 and $18,995 for the V2 S. The inspected SuperSport 950 page extract does not state a comparable U.S. list price, so no honest U.S. price winner can be calculated from these figures alone. Taxes, destination charges, dealer fees, registration, insurance and accessories can change the amount you actually pay.

Running costs are not established here
The available manufacturer pages and comparison listing do not establish a difference in scheduled maintenance, reliability, fuel economy, insurance premiums, tire life or resale value. Do not choose one on the assumption that the heavier fairing or the lighter naked format automatically costs less to own. Which one is better for your priorities?
Choose the Streetfighter V2 when these priorities lead
- You specifically want a naked motorcycle with no fairings and a high, wide handlebar.
- The current U.S. page’s 120 hp claim matters more to you than the SuperSport’s larger displacement.
- You value the lower listed wet weight: 392 lb for the standard or 386 lb for the S, both without fuel.
- You prefer to spend the difference between the standard and S on Öhlins equipment and the lithium battery, or you are content with the standard Marzocchi/Kayaba setup.
- You are prepared to manage full wind exposure and do not need a factory fairing or adjustable screen.
Choose the SuperSport 950 when these priorities lead
- You want a full fairing and an adjustable windscreen as part of the motorcycle rather than an aftermarket solution.
- Wind management on road trips or faster roads is more important than the Streetfighter’s 10-hp advantage on the specification sheet.
- You prefer the SuperSport’s road-sport styling and the 937 cc Testastretta L-twin format.
- You want to compare a standard Marzocchi version with a 950 S that uses Öhlins equipment.
- You can accept the listed 452 lb wet weight without fuel and will verify the local price, seat configuration and availability.
When the decision is between the S versions
The V2 S and 950 S both represent the premium suspension choice within their families, but they solve different problems. The Streetfighter S remains naked, single-seat as listed, lighter on the U.S. figures and rated at 120 hp. The SuperSport 950 S remains fully faired, includes the adjustable windscreen and is listed at 452 lb. Decide the bodywork first; then decide whether Öhlins equipment and the associated trim details justify the local price.

- Confirm the identity. Record the model year, standard or S trim, engine displacement and VIN or stock number. Do not let an older Streetfighter V2 be represented as the MY25 motorcycle.
- Verify the specification sheet. Ask the dealer to confirm wet weight basis, suspension brands, battery type, seat configuration and included equipment for that exact market.
- Set the windscreen and assess airflow. On the SuperSport, try each available screen position with your normal helmet and jacket. On the Streetfighter, note the unfaired wind load at the speeds permitted during the ride.
- Check fit before judging performance. Sit with both feet, then one foot, on the ground; check reach to the bars, knee angle, clutch feel and steering lock. A motorcycle that fits you is more useful than a paper advantage.
- Use the same route and conditions. If possible, ride both on similar pavement, including a low-speed turn, stop-and-go section and open road. Treat your impressions as personal observations, not laboratory results.
- Evaluate passenger needs. Inspect the actual seat, pegs and grab arrangements. For the Streetfighter S, confirm whether the passenger kit is installed or separately available; for the SuperSport S, determine whether the cowl replaces the passenger seat.
- Price the complete purchase. Add destination, documentation, tax, registration, insurance, financing and any required accessories. A displayed list price is not an out-the-door quote.
- Get ownership information in writing. Request maintenance intervals, warranty terms, parts lead times and an insurance quote for your address. Comparative reliability and running-cost claims are not established by the specifications above.
Common comparison mistakes
Mixing model years
Older Streetfighter V2 figures can differ materially from the MY25 page. Put the year beside every number in your notes and do not use a historical review to fill a missing current specification without labeling it.
Mixing weight standards
Wet weight without fuel, kerb weight and a dealer’s ready-to-ride weight are not necessarily the same measurement. The U.S. table uses Ducati’s stated wet-without-fuel figures. Keep that qualification attached whenever you repeat a number.
Comparing unlike trims
Suspension, battery and seat equipment change with the S designation. A standard-to-S comparison is a package comparison, not a clean model comparison. Match standard with standard or S with S before deciding which family offers more equipment.

Treating horsepower as a road result
The Streetfighter’s 120-hp claim is higher than the SuperSport’s 110-hp claim, but no source here supplies acceleration, top speed or dyno testing. Published output is useful for identifying the engine specification; it is not proof of a particular race or passing result.
Using a foreign price as a local quote
The India ex-showroom figures and U.S. Streetfighter list prices answer different market questions. Currency conversion does not remove taxes, fees, equipment and availability differences. Check the live local listing before budgeting.
Assuming an accessory fits
Ducati mentions a passenger-seat kit and an adjustable steering damper among accessories, but fitment by model year and market is not established here. Ask the dealer to verify compatibility and installation before ordering.

For a rider who wants the lightest published package, the higher listed output and an unfaired riding experience, the current Streetfighter V2 is the more logical choice. The standard’s 392 lb and the S’s 386 lb are both well below the SuperSport’s listed 452 lb, and both Streetfighter trims are rated at 120 hp.
For a rider who values a full fairing and adjustable windscreen, the SuperSport 950 is the better fit even though its 937 cc engine is listed at 110 hp and its wet weight without fuel is 452 lb. Those are different priorities, not a defect in the SuperSport. Confirm ergonomics, passenger equipment, local price and model-year details in person, because the available specifications cannot declare an objective winner for every rider.
