Choose the Full Throttle if you want Ducati’s more overt flat-track styling, a lower-bar sportier stance, a homologated Termignoni silencer and a standard up/down quickshifter. Choose the Icon when clean, dark, uncomplicated styling and the lower listed US MSRP matter more. Both are listed with a 795 mm (31.3 in) seat, and the available Ducati material does not establish that either one is faster, more comfortable or more reliable overall.
There is one important qualification before you compare prices or equipment: Ducati currently lists both an Icon and an Icon Dark in the United States, while its October 7, 2024 announcement covered the 2025 Icon Dark and 2025 Full Throttle. Confirm the exact trim and model year on the motorcycle’s paperwork and dealer quote.

Ducati’s own wording is useful for understanding intent, not for declaring a test winner. Its Media House announcement says, “The Full Throttle is the sportiest proposal in the Ducati Scrambler range and is inspired by US Flat Track competitions on dirt ovals.” That is manufacturer positioning rather than an independent comparison of acceleration, cornering or comfort.

First make sure “Icon” means the right motorcycle
Icon and Icon Dark are separate names
The title “Icon” is ambiguous in a current-market discussion. Ducati USA’s current model presentation lists an Icon and an Icon Dark. The October 7, 2024 announcement specifically introduced the 2025 Icon Dark and Full Throttle, not an unspecified, timeless “Icon.” An Icon Dark quote should not be treated as an Icon quote, and a 2025 launch price should not be presented as today’s price.
Confirm the model year and market
Before comparing two dealer listings, record the model year, exact trim name, color and country. Equipment and pricing can vary by market, and Ducati’s global family page is not a substitute for the specification sheet for your local motorcycle. Ask the dealer to put the trim and model year on the written quote, then check the vehicle identification number when the bike arrives.
What the Full Throttle adds
Flat-track design is the central difference
The Full Throttle is the visual choice for a buyer who wants the Scrambler’s racing-inspired side to be obvious. Ducati describes black-and-bronze graphics, number plates and bronze wheels, rather than the Icon Dark’s restrained, all-dark presentation. The design connection is specifically to US flat-track competition on dirt ovals; it is a styling and identity statement, not evidence that the road motorcycle has race-bike performance.

Lower handlebar, same published seat height
Ducati lists the Full Throttle’s seat at 795 mm (31.3 in) and says its lower handlebar lends itself to a sportier position. A lower bar can change how your upper body is supported and how the controls feel, but the published seat number alone cannot predict whether your knees, reach or wrists will be comfortable. Sit on the motorcycle in your normal riding gear and check that you can move your feet, reach the controls and turn the bars without contact with your legs.

Quick Shift Up/Down is standard
The Full Throttle’s standard up/down quickshifter is its clearest functional equipment advantage in the cited material. It is designed to allow clutchless gear changes in both directions when used within the system’s operating conditions. The Ducati announcement and current Full Throttle description do not establish standard quickshifter fitment for the Icon or Icon Dark, so do not assume the simpler-looking bike has the same equipment. Verify any option or package on the exact build sheet.
Termignoni silencer is included in the description
Ducati identifies a homologated Termignoni silencer for the Full Throttle. “Homologated” means the described component is approved for the applicable road-use requirements; it does not mean every country uses identical noise or emissions rules. The cited Icon material does not identify that silencer as standard equipment. If exhaust sound or appearance is decisive, confirm the component fitted to the motorcycle you are actually buying rather than relying on a photograph.
What the Icon and Icon Dark emphasize
Essential, dark and less visually busy
Ducati positions the 2025 Icon Dark as an essential, modern member of the range, with clean lines and dark styling. That makes it the more discreet choice for riders who do not want bronze wheels, number plates or a visibly flat-track-themed finish. The current US page also lists an Icon, so ask whether a quote is for the regular Icon or the Icon Dark before treating the styling description or price as interchangeable.

Do not infer a missing quickshifter
The family-level description mentions quickshifter technology, but the cited announcement does not say that the Icon Dark receives it as standard. This is a documentation limit, not proof that no Icon can be equipped with a quickshifter. Request the equipment list for the exact year and trim; if the feature is absent, decide whether the cost and complexity of an approved accessory or a different trim change your choice.
Shared platform and electronics
Next-generation Scrambler equipment
Ducati describes the next-generation Scrambler family with a 4.3-inch TFT display, ride-by-wire throttle control, riding modes and cornering ABS. These are family-level descriptions used for the Icon/Icon Dark and Full Throttle generation discussed here. The global page notes that equipment availability can vary by market, so use your local specification sheet to confirm the exact display, mode names and legal equipment.
Multimedia readiness
Ducati also describes Multimedia System readiness for the Full Throttle within this family. “Readiness” indicates compatibility or preparation for the system; it does not by itself document that every communication function or accessory is installed on every motorcycle. Ask what hardware is included and what, if anything, must be purchased or activated in your market.

Ducati USA says the current Full Throttle is 8.8 lb lighter than the prior generation because of changes including a new frame, swingarm and lighter engine. Ducati’s global page gives a 4 kg saving in the same prior-generation context. Those figures are effectively the same claim in imperial and metric units. They do not show that the Full Throttle weighs less than the Icon, and they are not an independent scale measurement of either trim.

Current US listing
On the Ducati USA page accessed October 13, 2026, the regular Icon is listed from $10,995 or $11,595 depending on color, while the Full Throttle is listed at $12,995 plus $995 destination. Ducati states that options, taxes, title, registration, processing and handling, dealer charges and potential tariffs are outside the displayed MSRP, and that the dealer determines the selling price. A buyer comparing the two should therefore obtain identical fee categories for both motorcycles.
2025 launch prices are historical
Ducati’s October 7, 2024 announcement gave a 2025 launch price of $9,995 for the Icon Dark and $12,395 for the Full Throttle, with intended US availability from March 2025. Those figures describe the launch context. They should not be mixed with the later current-page listing as if both were prices from the same day, and they do not establish what a dealer will charge in 2026.
A practical quote worksheet
- Write down the exact model year and trim: Icon, Icon Dark or Full Throttle.
- Record the advertised MSRP and color surcharge, if any.
- Add destination, setup, documentation, registration, taxes and any accessories as separate lines.
- Ask whether the quote includes a quickshifter, the described Termignoni silencer and any Multimedia System hardware.
- Compare the final out-the-door totals from dealers in the same region and confirm the quote’s expiration date.
Which one fits common buyer priorities?
Choose Full Throttle for a factory-finished sport look
The Full Throttle is the logical choice when the black-and-bronze treatment, number plates, bronze wheels and flat-track association are the reason you want this Scrambler. The lower handlebar and standard bidirectional quickshifter add documented equipment and a sportier stated posture. You are paying for a more distinctive trim and its included hardware, not for a proven performance advantage over the Icon.

The Icon family makes more sense when you prefer clean, dark lines and want the lower current US listing before fees. The Icon Dark’s 795 mm seat matches the Full Throttle’s published height, so the decision is not a simple “low seat versus high seat” choice. Your final answer depends on the exact Icon trim, color and equipment sheet, especially if a quickshifter is important.

Both trims belong to the same next-generation Scrambler family described with a 4.3-inch TFT, ride-by-wire, riding modes and cornering ABS. - Measure your fit. With both feet positioned naturally, check the 795 mm seat, reach to the lower Full Throttle handlebar and clearance at full steering lock.
- Inspect the claimed equipment. Look for the 4.3-inch TFT, controls for riding modes, the cornering-ABS system information and the quickshifter controls on a Full Throttle.
- Identify the exhaust. If the Termignoni silencer matters, verify the homologation marking or dealer documentation rather than relying on trim photography.
- Get an itemized price. Separate MSRP, destination, taxes, registration, dealer fees, color charges and accessories before comparing with an Icon quote.
Verdict: buy the trim that solves your priority
The Full Throttle is the better-documented fit for a buyer who specifically wants flat-track-inspired visuals, a lower-bar sportier stance, a homologated Termignoni silencer and a standard up/down quickshifter. The Icon or Icon Dark is the better fit for someone who values minimal dark styling and the lower current US listing, provided the exact trim’s equipment meets expectations. Both publish the same 795 mm seat height, and neither can be named the overall performance winner from manufacturer descriptions alone.
Before signing, resolve the Icon-versus-Icon Dark wording, confirm the model year and market, and compare complete local quotes. That process prevents the most common error in this matchup: treating different years, trims and fee structures as though they were one contemporaneous comparison.
