Choose the Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle if you want the sportiest factory specification and a standard up/down quickshifter. Choose the Nightshift if its Emerald Green finish, brown seat, black spoked wheels, straight handlebar and bar-end mirrors better match your taste. Ducati’s published headline engine figures do not separate them: both are listed at 73 hp, 48.1 lb-ft of torque and 176 kg wet weight without fuel. The meaningful decision is equipment, styling, riding position, local pricing and model year—not a claimed power advantage.
The specifications below come from Ducati’s official range and model information. They describe manufacturer-listed equipment and positioning, not an independent acceleration, handling or passenger-comfort test. Full Throttle vs Nightshift: the differences that matter
Ducati positions the Full Throttle as the sportiest member of the Scrambler family, with styling linked to US flat-track racing. The Nightshift takes a more classic café-racer direction. Underneath, they share the same basic air-cooled, two-valve, twin-cylinder Scrambler platform and the same published peak output. In practice, you are selecting a character and equipment package rather than choosing between two different engines.

What you get with the Full Throttle
Flat-track-inspired bodywork
The Full Throttle is the choice for a Scrambler that looks deliberately ready for a short-track paddock. Ducati calls it “the sportiest proposal in the Ducati Scrambler range” and says the design is inspired by US Flat Track competitions on dirt ovals. Its visual cues include side number plates, the number 62, a sump guard, a short front mudguard and a tail that omits the conventional rear mudguard. These are factory styling and protection details; they do not turn the motorcycle into a competition flat-tracker or establish off-road capability.
The lowered handlebar contributes to the more purposeful appearance. It also changes the relationship between your hands, torso and front wheel compared with the Nightshift’s straight bar. Riders who like a little more weight over the front and a compact, active cockpit may prefer it. Riders with different arm length, shoulder mobility or commuting priorities should judge that position on the actual bike rather than relying on the word “sporty.”
Standard Quick Shift Up/Down
The clearest equipment advantage is Ducati’s standard Quick Shift Up/Down system. On the six-speed transmission, it allows clutchless upshifts and downshifts when the system’s operating conditions are met. That can make repeated acceleration and braking in traffic, on winding roads or during brisk riding feel more direct. It is a convenience and engagement feature, not evidence that the Full Throttle has more horsepower.

Do not assume a Nightshift on a showroom floor has the same hardware simply because it belongs to the same generation. Ask the dealer to identify the fitted equipment by VIN and model year, and confirm whether any advertised quickshifter is factory standard or an added accessory.
Flatter seat and 795 mm height
Ducati lists a 795 mm seat height for the Full Throttle and describes its seat as flatter. A flatter profile can make it easier for some riders to move fore and aft or to reach the ground at a stop, but the quoted height alone cannot predict comfort. Inseam length, boot sole, suspension sag and the width of the seat all affect how tall a motorcycle feels.
What you get with the Nightshift
Classic color and trim
The Nightshift is aimed at buyers who want a restrained, classic-looking Scrambler rather than the Full Throttle’s race-number graphics. Ducati USA’s current presentation emphasizes Emerald Green paint, a brown seat, black spoked wheels and bar-end mirrors. The combination gives the motorcycle a café-racer flavor while retaining the upright, approachable proportions of the Scrambler family.

Paint and trim can be market- or year-specific. If a listing shows a different color, wheel finish or mirror arrangement, treat the listing—not a generic image—as the specification to verify. Ask for the model-year code and a written equipment list before comparing two motorcycles that may carry the same Nightshift name but come from different markets.

Straight handlebar and two-seater saddle
The Nightshift uses a straight handlebar and a flat, café-racer-style two-seater saddle in Ducati’s description. That layout may suit riders who prefer a neutral bar rather than the Full Throttle’s lower unit. It also confirms that Ducati presents the bike as a two-seat motorcycle, but the supplied official material does not provide a comparative passenger-comfort test, padding measurement or long-distance review. A passenger’s experience depends on reach to the grab points, footpeg position, wind protection and the rider’s pace.
If carrying someone matters, have both people sit on the exact bike with riding gear. Check whether the passenger can place both feet securely on the pegs, whether the seat keeps them from sliding into the rider and whether your combined weight is within the motorcycle’s stated limits for your market.
Engine, chassis and electronics shared by the family
Same published output, so do not buy on a power claim
Ducati’s global range page lists 73 hp and 48.1 lb-ft of torque for both the Full Throttle and Nightshift. It also lists 176 kg wet weight without fuel for each. Those figures support a trim-and-preference comparison: neither model has a manufacturer-published headline advantage in output or listed mass.
Published peak numbers do not tell you everything about feel. Throttle calibration, gearing, exhaust noise, tire choice, rider position and the way the quickshifter manages shifts can change the sensation of acceleration. None of those potential impressions should be converted into a claim that one trim is objectively faster without a controlled, independent test.
Ride-by-Wire and rider aids
Ducati’s generation overview describes an air-cooled, two-valve twin-cylinder engine with Ride-by-Wire, riding modes, traction control and cornering ABS. Ducati USA’s Nightshift presentation also calls out two riding modes, adjustable traction control, cornering ABS and full LED lighting. These systems can help tailor throttle response and manage wheel slip or braking intervention, but their exact menus, calibration and availability can vary by country and model year.

Before signing, cycle through the motorcycle’s dash and ask the dealer to demonstrate the riding-mode and traction-control settings. Confirm that cornering ABS is fitted to the exact VIN rather than assuming every used or imported example has identical electronics. Read the owner’s manual for the local market to understand how the systems intervene and what warning lights mean.
Weight and maneuvering
At 176 kg wet without fuel on Ducati’s global page, the two trims carry the same published mass. Fuel level, accessories, luggage, crash protection and the rider’s own equipment change the ready-to-ride total. Because the listed weight is equal, a buyer should focus on bar reach, seat shape, mirror position and balance at walking pace rather than expecting one trim to be materially easier to lift or push.
Which one feels sportier?
The Full Throttle is the obvious answer in Ducati’s own positioning: it has the lower handlebar, flatter seat, number-plate graphics, sump guard and standard quickshifter. Those details create a more deliberate sporting package. They do not establish a different suspension specification, a higher engine output or a guaranteed lap-time advantage over the Nightshift.
The Nightshift can still be ridden briskly. It shares the same listed output, torque and wet weight, and its straight handlebar may feel more natural to a rider who wants an upright control position. “Sportier” here means the combination of standard equipment, ergonomics and visual intent. Your roads, riding clothing, body dimensions and preferred control feel determine whether that package is actually better for you.
Comfort, reach and everyday practicality
Evaluate the cockpit instead of guessing from the name
Neither Ducati’s cited pages can establish a universal comfort winner. Sit on both motorcycles with your normal boots. Check whether your wrists are neutral, whether your knees contact the tank comfortably, whether you can turn the handlebar without your elbows hitting your torso and whether you can put one or both feet down confidently.
The Full Throttle’s 795 mm listed seat height and flatter profile may help one rider while the lower bar bothers another. The Nightshift’s straight bar and flat two-seater saddle may suit a different torso or shoulder position. A five-minute showroom sit can reveal reach issues, but a properly arranged test ride is the better way to evaluate vibration, wind pressure, clutch effort, steering response and low-speed balance.

Passenger use
Ducati describes the Nightshift saddle as a flat café-racer-style two-seater. That tells you a passenger seat exists; it does not certify long-distance comfort. Ask the dealer whether the motorcycle is supplied with passenger footpegs and the required grab arrangement in your market. If you routinely carry a passenger, test mounting and dismounting, braking stability and helmet-to-helmet communication before choosing based solely on the seat’s appearance.
Lighting, mirrors and visibility
Full LED lighting is highlighted in Ducati USA’s Scrambler information, while the Nightshift is specifically shown with bar-end mirrors. Bar-end mirrors can produce a clean silhouette and a broad view when correctly adjusted, but their position may be more exposed in a garage or tight parking space. Check that the mirrors remain clear with your shoulders and luggage fitted, and verify local equipment requirements on an imported motorcycle.
Price: use the number correctly
Ducati North America’s October 7, 2024 announcement gave the 2025 Full Throttle a US MSRP of $12,395 and said US dealer availability would begin in March 2025. Ducati states that this MSRP excludes destination and other charges. It is a dated model-year reference, not a current 2026 quote or a guaranteed used-bike value.
The cited material does not provide a directly comparable current Nightshift MSRP. Prices vary by country, taxes, freight, registration, dealer fees, incentives and whether the motorcycle is new, demonstrator or used. Request itemized quotes for the same model year and include destination, setup, documentation, registration, accessories and financing costs before deciding that one trim is cheaper.
A useful comparison is the cost of the equipment you actually want. If you would add a quickshifter, styling parts or luggage to a Nightshift, compare the installed total with a Full Throttle that includes the quickshifter from the factory. Conversely, if you prefer the Nightshift’s mirrors and wheels, do not pay for Full Throttle parts you would remove immediately.

When comparing luggage, measure the width with both cases installed and consider whether the Nightshift’s bar-end mirrors or the Full Throttle’s tail treatment changes your parking routine. Keep heavy items low and secure, and follow Ducati’s published maximum loads rather than treating a pannier’s physical capacity as its safe payload.
Optional exhaust assembly
Ducati also lists a complete exhaust assembly for both trims and identifies an additional required part for the Nightshift and Full Throttle. It is an optional modification, not a prerequisite for either motorcycle. Check fitment by model year, local noise and emissions legality, warranty implications and the complete installed cost. The accessory page is at Ducati Canada’s exhaust listing.
How to choose: a practical decision framework
Choose the Full Throttle when these priorities lead
- You want the factory sportiest presentation and flat-track-inspired details.
- You value a standard Quick Shift Up/Down system and would otherwise purchase a compatible accessory.
- You prefer the Full Throttle’s flatter seat and lower handlebar after sitting on the motorcycle.
- You like the number plates, number 62, sump guard and shortened mudguard treatment.
- Your local dealer’s same-year, itemized quote makes its equipment advantage worthwhile.
Choose the Nightshift when these priorities lead
- You prefer the Emerald Green, brown-seat and black-spoked-wheel combination shown by Ducati USA.
- You want straight handlebars and bar-end mirrors rather than the Full Throttle’s lower bar and sportier trim.
- You prefer a classic café-racer appearance and a flat two-seater saddle.
- You do not need the Full Throttle’s standard quickshifter, or your local Nightshift can be equipped with the features you want at a sensible installed cost.
- The Nightshift is the better-valued or more available example after comparing identical fees, warranty terms and model years.
When neither is automatically better
If you are searching for more power, a lower published weight or proof that one bike handles better, these official figures do not provide it. Both are listed at the same output, torque and wet weight. A different Scrambler model or a different motorcycle category may be a better answer than trying to force a Full Throttle-versus-Nightshift choice to solve a requirement neither trim addresses.

Buying checklist for a new or used example
- Identify the exact year and market. Record the VIN, model-year designation, country of first sale and whether the motorcycle is an official local-market bike or an import.
- Match the equipment to the listing. Confirm the quickshifter, riding modes, traction control, cornering ABS, LED lighting, mirrors, wheels, seat and mudguards on the actual motorcycle.
- Compare written, itemized prices. Separate MSRP or advertised price from destination, setup, documentation, registration, taxes, accessories and finance charges. Treat the $12,395 2025 US Full Throttle figure as historical reference only.
- Test the ergonomics. Wear your riding boots, check reach to the bar and controls, turn the steering lock to lock, and evaluate both feet-down confidence and passenger seating if relevant.
- Test the electronics. Ask the dealer to show riding-mode selection, traction-control adjustment and the quickshifter’s operation. A used bike should have no unexplained warning lights.
- Inspect accessory fitment. If you want panniers, verify the required mounting parts and model-year compatibility before the sale. If you want an exhaust, verify legal approval and all additional components.
- Get the final promise in writing. The purchase order should identify the trim, model year, included accessories, warranty, fees and delivery condition.
Bottom line: which Ducati Scrambler is better?
There is no universal winner. The Full Throttle is the more equipment-focused choice because Ducati makes its up/down quickshifter standard and gives it the sportiest, flat-track-influenced treatment. The Nightshift is the style-and-cockpit choice, with Emerald Green paint, brown seat, black spoked wheels, straight handlebars and bar-end mirrors in Ducati USA’s current presentation. Since both publish 73 hp, 48.1 lb-ft and 176 kg wet without fuel, choose the one whose controls, appearance, price and verified local specification fit your riding rather than expecting a decisive engine advantage.
Take both for a test ride if possible, then compare current dealer quotes for the same model year. That final check matters more than a historical MSRP or a photograph because market equipment, charges and inventory can change.
