MotoAmerica reported on December 16, 2022, that Hagerty’s Jason Cammisa challenged Herrin to race a Lucid Air Sapphire while Herrin rode a Panigale V4 SP2. The separate Corvette Z06 matchup
Ducati describes a different episode of Hagerty’s Cammisa’s Ultimate Drag Race: Herrin on a Panigale V4 SP2 against SCCA Hall of Fame race-car driver Randy Pobst in a 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. MotoAmerica also reported on December 1, 2022, on the Corvette Z06 comparison alongside a Porsche 992 GT3 and Audi R8 Performance V10 Spyder, framing the question as whether the cars could beat a liter-class sportbike. Is the Lucid the world’s fastest electric car?
That wording is broader than the evidence supports. MotoAmerica’s 2022 description refers to the Sapphire as the “world’s quickest-accelerating production car.” Quickest acceleration is not the same as highest top speed, and the cited report does not establish a current, all-electric-car top-speed record. Its wording should be attributed to that publication and date rather than treated as a present-day ranking.

What is known about the Panigale V4 SP2?
MotoAmerica identifies the SP2’s 1103cc Desmosedici Stradale engine, carbon-fiber wheels, and dry clutch. These details describe the motorcycle; they do not, by themselves, establish how it performed against the Sapphire in a particular run. MotoAmerica’s SP2 and comparison coverage.

The MotoAmerica text about the Sapphire matchup does not establish its result, elapsed times, race distance, start procedure, track surface, weather, or a controlled, repeatable test protocol. Without those details, it is not possible to give a verified winner or compare the vehicles’ performance over a specified distance.

A meaningful drag-race comparison would need, at minimum, the distance and timing, launch rules, vehicle configuration, rider and driver, surface and weather conditions, and whether the result came from one run or repeated runs. Those details matter because a race result is specific to its setup; it should not be generalized into a definitive claim that a motorcycle or an electric car is faster in every measure.
