There is no single winner. The Panigale V4 Lamborghini is the clear choice for maximum performance, premium hardware, exclusivity and solo riding. The SuperSport 950 is the more practical choice for public-road use, a lower seat, passenger carrying and a substantially lower known purchase price. Ducati’s published specifications support that use-case split; they are not a substitute for an independent road or track comparison.
In the U.S. specifications, the Panigale makes 209 hp from a 1,103 cc V4, while the SuperSport makes 110 hp from a 937 cc L-twin. The Panigale is listed as a 185 kg single-seater with an 850 mm seat; the SuperSport is a 205 kg two-seater with an 810 mm seat. Those figures are wet weights without fuel, so neither is a ready-to-ride weight.

What each motorcycle is designed to do
Panigale V4 Lamborghini: an exclusive superbike
The Panigale V4 Lamborghini is built around the priorities of a high-performance superbike: very high engine output, track-oriented tire sizing, advanced electronic suspension and a single-rider layout. Its 1,103 cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 produces nearly twice the published horsepower of the SuperSport. The single-seat configuration also makes its purpose unambiguous: it is not intended to be a two-up touring motorcycle.
Ducati lists extensive carbon-fiber components, forged aluminum wheels, Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 electronic suspension and a titanium-bodied Akrapovič type-approved muffler on the Lamborghini edition. These parts are not simply cosmetic trim; they are the hardware that separates this limited-edition superbike from a conventional road-sport model. The edition also has Lamborghini-themed styling and matching limited-edition riding gear described by Ducati, although local availability of that apparel must be confirmed with a dealer.
SuperSport 950: a road-oriented sport motorcycle
The SuperSport 950 uses Ducati’s 937 cc Testastretta 11° L-twin and retains a full-fairing sport-bike appearance, but its two-seat layout and lower seat point toward everyday road use. Ducati described the model at its 2021 production announcement as “a motorcycle capable of combining sportiness with everyday road use.” That is the manufacturer’s positioning rather than an independent comfort test.
The standard 950 uses Marzocchi front and Sachs rear suspension, while the 950 S upgrades to Öhlins suspension. Both versions keep the same published 110 hp and 93 Nm figures on the U.S. specification page. If your roads include commuting, touring or a passenger, the SuperSport’s basic architecture is the relevant advantage; the 950 S changes suspension equipment and trim, not the bike’s fundamental mission.

Engine performance and character
Power and torque
Ducati rates the Panigale V4 Lamborghini at 209 hp (153.5 kW) at 12,750 rpm and 121.3 Nm at 11,250 rpm in the U.S. market. The SuperSport 950 is rated at 110 hp (81 kW) at 9,000 rpm and 93 Nm at 6,500 rpm. These are manufacturer ratings, not independent dyno measurements.
The difference is 99 hp and 28.3 Nm on the published U.S. figures. More importantly, the Panigale reaches its peak numbers at substantially higher engine speeds, reflecting a performance engine intended to be used aggressively on a track or unrestricted road. The SuperSport’s peak torque arrives 4,750 rpm earlier, a specification consistent with a less extreme road-bike tune, although the data alone cannot quantify throttle response, heat, vibration or rideability.
Regional output warning
Ducati’s global Panigale page lists different output for some markets: 218.5 hp and 122.1 Nm, compared with 209 hp and 121.3 Nm for the USA, Canada and Mexico. Do not use the higher figures for a North American motorcycle without checking its market specification. The correct reference is the page and compliance configuration for the country where the bike is registered.

Chassis, suspension and equipment
Panigale’s premium hardware
The Panigale V4 Lamborghini’s Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 system is electronically controlled, allowing the motorcycle’s suspension behavior to be managed through its control electronics rather than relying solely on manual adjusters. Forged aluminum wheels and carbon-fiber parts are listed equipment, while the titanium-bodied Akrapovič muffler is type-approved according to Ducati’s description.
Those components explain why this motorcycle belongs in a different category from the SuperSport. They are valuable to riders who will use the bike at high pace, attend track days or place a high value on limited-edition construction. They also introduce more specialized parts, so prospective owners should ask a dealer about replacement cost, lead time and service procedures before purchase; the manufacturer pages do not provide a total cost of ownership.
SuperSport suspension choices
The standard SuperSport 950 combines Marzocchi front and Sachs rear suspension. The 950 S substitutes Öhlins hardware. That distinction matters when comparing the two SuperSport trims, but even the 950 S is not presented as an electronic Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 package like the Lamborghini edition.

Ergonomics, seat height and passenger use
Seat height and mass
The Panigale’s listed seat height is 850 mm (33.5 in), 40 mm higher than the SuperSport’s 810 mm (31.9 in). The Panigale is also listed at 185 kg wet without fuel, while the SuperSport is 205 kg wet without fuel. A lower seat can make stops and low-speed maneuvers easier for some riders, but inseam, seat shape, suspension sag and footwear all affect whether a rider can place a foot securely.
Do not interpret the 20 kg difference as a ready-to-ride advantage. Ducati’s wet-weight figures explicitly exclude fuel, and the amount of fuel, accessories and luggage changes the scale reading. Use the listed values for model comparison, then ask the dealer to demonstrate the actual motorcycle with the intended equipment.
Passenger accommodation
The Panigale V4 Lamborghini is configured as a single-seater. The SuperSport 950 is configured for two people, making it the only viable choice of these two if carrying a passenger is a requirement. Passenger comfort, wind protection and long-distance fatigue are not quantified on Ducati’s product page, so arrange a two-person fit check rather than assuming the second seat guarantees touring comfort.
Tires and what they imply
Ducati lists Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP-V4 tires in 120/70 ZR17 front and 200/60 ZR17 rear sizes for the U.S. Panigale V4 Lamborghini. The SuperSport uses Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tires in 120/70 ZR17 and 180/55 ZR17 sizes. The different rear widths and tire families reflect different chassis and use targets, but they do not by themselves establish cornering grip, mileage or wet-weather behavior.

When replacing tires, verify the exact model year, speed rating, dimensions and market specification. The SuperSport’s original-equipment Diablo Rosso III fitment is a useful starting point for a replacement search, but a tire listing should be checked against the motorcycle’s owner documentation and local dealer advice. The same verification applies to the Panigale’s Supercorsa SP-V4 fitment.

| SuperSport 950 | $15,495 | Standard suspension package and standard livery |
| SuperSport 950 S Ducati Red | $17,995 | 950 S equipment with Ducati Red finish |
| SuperSport 950 S Stripe Livery | $18,395 | 950 S equipment with Stripe Livery |
Ducati states that these figures exclude options, taxes, title, registration, destination, processing and handling, dealer charges and potential tariffs. They are listed prices, not an out-the-door quote, and dealer inventory can change by location.
Panigale price and exclusivity
No comparable U.S. Panigale V4 Lamborghini MSRP was established on the retrieved product page, so a price difference should not be invented. Ask an authorized dealer for the current transaction price, allocation status, destination charges and any required deposit. Limited-edition availability can be more restrictive than a regular-production motorcycle, but the retrieved pages do not provide a confirmed production quantity or current inventory count.

Maintenance and ownership questions the specifications cannot answer
SuperSport service interval stated by Ducati
Ducati’s U.S. SuperSport page states: “The Ducati Testastretta 11° twin-cylinder engine has service intervals every 9,000 miles, or 12 months, with valve clearance checks every 18,000 miles.” This is the manufacturer’s stated schedule. It does not establish what a dealer will charge, how much consumables cost or how maintenance compares with the Panigale.
Unquantified running costs
The supplied manufacturer pages do not provide a real-world fuel-economy figure, riding range, reliability dataset, insurance quote, tire life, service pricing or total-cost-of-ownership analysis for either bike. The Panigale’s specialized carbon, forged-wheel, electronic-suspension and titanium components may matter to replacement budgeting, but no defensible dollar estimate is published here. Obtain written service and parts estimates for your region before treating one model as cheaper to own.
Which model fits your priorities?
Choose the Panigale V4 Lamborghini when these are non-negotiable
- You want the higher published output: 209 hp and 121.3 Nm in the U.S. specification.
- You specifically want a V4 superbike with electronic Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 suspension, forged aluminum wheels and extensive carbon-fiber equipment.
- You ride alone and accept the 850 mm seat and single-seat layout.
- You value a limited-edition Lamborghini collaboration and are prepared to verify allocation, pricing and parts support.
- Your priority is high-performance or track-oriented riding rather than carrying a passenger.
Choose the SuperSport 950 when these requirements matter more
- You need two seats for a passenger.
- The 810 mm listed seat is a better starting point for your inseam or low-speed confidence.
- You want Ducati’s road-oriented sport-bike concept rather than a single-seat superbike.
- You prefer a known U.S. MSRP starting at $15,495, subject to the listed exclusions.
- You want to choose between standard Marzocchi/Sachs suspension and the Öhlins-equipped 950 S.
When the 950 S is the sensible middle option
The SuperSport 950 S keeps the two-seat, 937 cc platform and 110 hp rating while adding Öhlins suspension. It is the logical trim to investigate if you want more suspension hardware than the standard 950 but do not need the Panigale’s V4 output, single-seat format or electronic Öhlins system. The S versions cost $17,995 or $18,395 before the charges Ducati lists, so compare the actual dealer quote with the standard model rather than assuming the equipment difference is worth the entire MSRP gap.
How to evaluate one before buying
- Confirm the market specification. Match the motorcycle’s country, model year and VIN-linked equipment to Ducati’s regional page. The Panigale’s global output figures differ from the USA/Canada/Mexico figures.
- Measure the fit in riding gear. Sit in your normal boots, reach both bars, check the 850 mm or 810 mm seat height and verify that the passenger pegs and rear seat work for the intended passenger.
- Request the complete out-the-door quote. For the SuperSport, add destination, processing, handling, taxes, registration, dealer charges, options and any tariff exposure to the displayed MSRP. Obtain a dealer quote for the Panigale because no comparable U.S. price is stated here.
- Ask for a service estimate. Have the dealer price scheduled services, valve checks, tires, brake consumables and likely electronic or carbon-fiber replacement parts for your riding mileage.
- Check tire and wheel logistics. Confirm that the dealer can source the specified 200/60 rear Supercorsa for the Panigale or 180/55 Rosso III for the SuperSport, and ask how tire changes affect your annual budget.
- Ride or arrange a controlled demonstration. A short, legal ride can reveal reach, heat, steering and low-speed balance; it cannot turn manufacturer specifications into an independent performance test, so record your own impressions separately from the published numbers.
- Decide how you will use it most often. If passenger trips and public-road practicality dominate, keep the SuperSport in the final choice. If solo high-performance riding and edition-specific hardware dominate, keep the Panigale in the final choice.
Bottom line
The Panigale V4 Lamborghini is “better” only for the rider who wants an exclusive, single-seat superbike and can accept its taller ergonomics, specialized equipment and unresolved market price. The SuperSport 950 is the better road-focused answer when a passenger, lower seat and transparent U.S. MSRP matter more than outright power. Select the model that matches those priorities, then verify local fit, specification, price and service support with a Ducati dealer.
