Choose the Ducati if exclusivity, track-focused hardware and a limited-production design are the point of ownership. Choose the Kawasaki if you want one exceptionally powerful motorcycle for road travel, commuting and touring.
The figures below are U.S. manufacturer specifications. Ducati identifies its motorcycle as MY26, while Kawasaki’s specification sheet covers the 2026 Ninja H2 SX SE ABS. Manufacturer horsepower, prices and equipment can change by market or model year, and no comparable independent test establishes a winner in acceleration, cornering, comfort, braking or reliability.

The short answer: decide by mission, not horsepower
These motorcycles occupy different categories despite their similar headline output. Ducati’s Panigale V4 Lamborghini is a special-edition superbike with a dry clutch, carbon components, an Akrapovič exhaust and electronically controlled Öhlins suspension. It is built around the latest Panigale V4 S and limited to 630 numbered motorcycles, with a separate 63-bike series for Lamborghini customers. Its rarity, materials and provenance are central to the purchase.

Kawasaki’s Ninja H2 SX SE is explicitly a hypersport/sport-touring motorcycle. Its supercharged engine is paired with adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, blind-spot detection, heated grips, tire-pressure monitoring, electronic suspension and a six-speed dog-ring transmission. Those features target highway range, changing weather and two-up or luggage-equipped road use rather than collector exclusivity.

The power numbers are not a laboratory comparison. Kawasaki says its horsepower was measured under ISO 4106, which uses a different measurement method from SAE-rated horsepower. Ducati’s figure is its U.S. product specification. Dyno results, gearing, fuel, temperature and test method could change the relationship in an independent test.
What each motorcycle is designed to do
Ducati: a Panigale superbike with collector status
Ducati describes this as its third collaboration chapter with Lamborghini, with styling inspired by the Revuelto. The underlying motorcycle is the latest Panigale V4 S, but the edition adds visible carbon fiber, unique bodywork and wheels, a distinctive livery, adjustable footpegs, a dedicated engine calibration and a titanium-alloy Akrapovič silencer with carbon end caps.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe dry clutch is a meaningful part of the superbike character. It provides the mechanical feel and sound associated with Ducati’s high-performance racing lineage, while the dedicated calibration and exhaust are credited by Ducati with raising U.S.-market peak output to 209 hp. Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 electronic suspension is intended to let the motorcycle’s setup adapt through its control system rather than relying only on manual adjusters.
This specification describes a focused, expensive machine. It does not establish that the Ducati will be quicker around every circuit or easier to ride on every road. Tire choice, rider skill, circuit layout, setup and weather can dominate those outcomes.
Kawasaki: high-speed ability with road-trip equipment
The Ninja H2 SX SE uses a 998 cc supercharged inline-four. Kawasaki lists 207 hp at 10,000 rpm and 101 lb-ft at 8,500 rpm, giving the motorcycle a large published torque figure as well as high peak power. The six-speed dog-ring transmission is designed for quick, positive shifts, and the SE specification includes quick shifting in both directions.

Kawasaki’s model positioning matters more than the small difference in quoted horsepower. Adaptive cruise control can reduce fatigue on long, steady highway stretches; heated grips extend the usable riding season; TPMS supplies an immediate pressure check; and the rider-assistance suite is aimed at detecting traffic situations rather than simply maximizing lap-time performance. The motorcycle remains extremely powerful, but its equipment is arranged around real-world road use.
Engine and power: what the numbers do—and do not—show
Displacement and configuration
Ducati’s 1,103 cc Desmosedici Stradale is a V4 engine, while Kawasaki’s 998 cc unit is an inline-four with a supercharger. Displacement alone does not determine output. Forced induction, valve timing, intake and exhaust design, engine speed and calibration all influence the result.
The Ducati reaches its quoted 209 hp at 12,750 rpm. Kawasaki reaches 207 hp at 10,000 rpm and also publishes 101 lb-ft at 8,500 rpm. Because the figures peak at different engine speeds and were not produced by one test organization, they should be read as each company’s specification rather than as a definitive ranking.
Measurement standards matter
Kawasaki specifically notes that its horsepower is measured using ISO 4106 and may differ from horsepower measured to SAE standards. Ducati’s U.S. announcement gives its 209-hp figure without creating a directly equivalent cross-manufacturer test protocol. A dyno comparison would need the same fuel, correction method, drivetrain treatment and test conditions before a meaningful result could be claimed.
Acceleration and top speed are unresolved here
Neither manufacturer figure supplied for this comparison establishes a tested 0–60 mph time, quarter-mile time, roll-on result or top speed. The Ducati’s lower stated mass may look suggestive, but its published weight excludes fuel while Kawasaki’s curb figure includes a mostly full tank and operating fluids. It would be misleading to turn these specifications into an acceleration verdict.

Chassis, suspension and rider controls
Ducati’s performance hardware
The Panigale V4 Lamborghini carries Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 electronic suspension, adjustable footpegs and edition-specific carbon and titanium components. The dry clutch and Akrapovič silencer reinforce its track-derived identity. Ducati’s description emphasizes the Panigale V4 S foundation and the special bodywork, wheels and calibration rather than luggage, passenger convenience or weather protection.

That does not mean the Ducati cannot be ridden on the road. It means the specification is optimized around a superbike experience, and a buyer should assess riding position, heat, wind exposure, seat comfort and luggage needs in person rather than infer them from the model name.
Kawasaki’s electronically managed road package
The Ninja H2 SX SE uses Showa Skyhook-based electronic suspension. Its control strategy is paired with traction control, launch control, quick shifting in both directions and vehicle-hold assist. These functions address different situations: traction and launch systems manage drive force, quick shifting reduces clutch work during acceleration, and vehicle hold can help when stopping on an incline or in traffic.
The 6.5-inch color TFT provides the primary information display, while smartphone connectivity adds another layer of navigation or communication integration depending on the paired device and supported functions. Kawasaki also lists heated grips and TPMS, two features that matter more over a long ride than during a short track session.
Active safety aids are not autonomous riding
Adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning and blind-spot detection can assist a rider’s workload, but they do not replace visual checks, lane judgment or control of the motorcycle. Their usefulness depends on sensor conditions, traffic behavior, road markings and the rider’s understanding of system limits. Treat them as assistance features, not as a guarantee against a collision.
Weight: why the published figures cannot be compared directly
Ducati lists 185 kg (408 lb) in running order without fuel. Kawasaki lists 590.9 lb curb weight and specifies that the figure includes the materials and fluids required for operation, a fuel tank filled beyond 90 percent capacity and a tool kit if one is supplied.
Those are different definitions. A Ducati figure with fuel added would be higher than the quoted 408 lb, while Kawasaki’s nearly full tank contributes to its stated mass. The motorcycles also have different equipment and intended uses. Do not subtract one number from the other and present the result as a verified real-world weight advantage.

Mass still matters to a buyer. A superbike’s lower equipment load can influence how it feels when changing direction or maneuvering in a garage, while the sport-tourer’s additional fuel, electronics and road equipment support its range and convenience mission. Only a matched weigh-in and riding test could establish how large the practical difference feels.
Limited-edition content and ownership significance
The 630-bike Ducati edition
Ducati plans 630 numbered examples of the Panigale V4 Lamborghini. Numbering turns the motorcycle into a defined production series rather than an ordinary trim level. The visible carbon fiber, special wheels and bodywork, Akrapovič silencer, dry clutch, dedicated calibration and matching design language are part of what a collector is purchasing.
There is also a distinct 63-bike Speciale Clienti edition reserved for Lamborghini customers. Ducati’s U.S. announcement states: “The Ducati Panigale V4 Lamborghini Speciale Clienti: this limited edition of only 63 numbered examples is exclusively reserved for Lamborghini customers, who can configure the bike in the same colors as their super sports car.” That reservation and customization option make the Speciale Clienti a separate proposition, not merely a higher equipment package available to every buyer.
Included North American gear
Ducati says North American purchasers receive a limited-edition helmet, jacket and leather riding suit in matching colors. The package confirms that a model-matched Ducati Panigale V4 Lamborghini helmet exists as part of the delivery arrangement. The available information does not establish that these items are sold separately or that a particular retailer has them in stock.
Availability needs confirmation
Ducati announced that North American deliveries were scheduled to begin in December 2025. That was a delivery schedule announcement, not proof of current inventory. Because the edition is limited, a prospective buyer should confirm allocation, numbered-unit availability, documentation, service arrangements and final on-road charges with an authorized dealer before treating the published price as a purchasable offer.

The Ducati’s price is not simply a charge for a few extra horsepower. It covers a limited production run, collaboration-specific design, carbon and titanium parts, an Akrapovič exhaust, special calibration, numbered provenance and the included North American apparel package. Whether those elements justify the premium is a personal collecting decision.

The Kawasaki’s lower MSRP does not make it a basic motorcycle. Its price includes a supercharged engine, electronic suspension, active rider-assistance systems, heated grips, TPMS, a color TFT and smartphone connectivity. For a rider who wants one machine for long road trips, the money is directed toward usable equipment rather than scarcity.
Which one is better for common buying scenarios?
Choose the Ducati if the motorcycle itself is the collectible
- You want a numbered Panigale derivative rather than a general-purpose motorcycle.
- Carbon fiber, unique wheels and bodywork, a dry clutch and titanium-alloy exhaust matter to you.
- You expect to ride track days or spirited solo roads and accept a focused superbike layout.
- The higher U.S. price is acceptable without expecting a measurable performance advantage over every other superbike.
- You value the limited helmet, jacket and leather suit supplied in the stated North American package.
Choose the Kawasaki if the journey is the priority
- You regularly ride highways, tour, commute or carry equipment.
- Adaptive cruise control, heated grips, TPMS and electronic suspension have practical value to you.
- You want forward-collision warning, blind-spot detection and vehicle-hold assist as additional layers of rider support.
- You prefer a regular production motorcycle with a substantially lower published U.S. MSRP.
- You want high performance without making rarity and numbered provenance the center of the purchase.
Do not choose on horsepower alone
The quoted difference is only two manufacturer-listed horsepower, measured at different engine speeds and under different stated standards. The Ducati’s power figure does not prove it accelerates harder, and Kawasaki’s torque figure does not prove it is faster in every gear. Gear ratios, rider position, traction, fuel load and electronic settings all affect the result.
Questions to answer before placing an order
- Which riding environment dominates? Write down the percentage of your riding that will be highway touring, urban travel, back roads and track use. A clear majority of touring miles favors the Kawasaki’s equipment; a collector or track emphasis points toward the Ducati.
- Can you physically fit the mission? Sit on the motorcycle in riding gear. Check wrist angle, knee bend, reach to the bars, passenger space, wind protection and the ability to carry the items you normally take.
- What does the final invoice include? Ask for destination, freight, setup, documentation, taxes, registration, dealer fees and any required accessories. The published prices are not a complete out-the-door quote.
- Is the Ducati allocation real? Confirm the numbered unit, delivery timing, included gear and warranty or service process in writing. A previously announced delivery month does not guarantee an available motorcycle.
- How will you use the electronics? Understand the operating conditions and limitations for adaptive cruise control, collision warning, blind-spot detection, quick shifting and electronic suspension. Request a dealer demonstration rather than assuming every feature works in every traffic or weather situation.
- What riding gear and storage do you need? The Ducati package includes matching apparel for North American purchasers, but neither the supplied information nor the Kawasaki specification establishes a complete touring luggage solution. Budget and verify the equipment required for your own trips.
What the available evidence cannot answer
No named, instrumented head-to-head test is established for these two motorcycles. Consequently, it is not responsible to declare a winner for lap time, braking distance, acceleration, top speed, comfort, reliability, fuel economy, service cost or resale value from the manufacturer sheets alone.
Recommended Free Tools
Those questions require controlled testing or long-term ownership data. A fair comparison would use the same rider, tires, fuel conditions, test surface, measurement equipment and weather, while separately evaluating touring comfort and track performance. Until that evidence exists, the defensible conclusion remains mission-based: Ducati for limited-edition superbike ownership, Kawasaki for supercharged sport-touring capability.
Verdict
The Ducati Panigale V4 Lamborghini is the more distinctive purchase, not the objectively superior motorcycle. Its 630-unit run, separate 63-bike customer edition, special materials and Panigale V4 S foundation make it compelling to a collector who wants a rare, track-oriented machine and accepts the premium.
The Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX SE is the more broadly useful tool. Its 207-hp supercharged engine, 101 lb-ft claim, electronic suspension, rider-assistance systems and comfort equipment are aimed at covering real roads with less compromise. If “better” means better matched to touring, daily road use and budget, the Kawasaki is the logical choice. If it means owning a numbered Ducati-Lamborghini collaboration, only the Ducati satisfies that goal.
