There is no universal winner. Ducati’s current U.S. specifications position the 890 cc Panigale V2 as the more powerful motorcycle on paper, while the 937 cc SuperSport 950 delivers the same listed peak torque at lower engine speed and has the lower seat. Choose the Panigale when peak output and its current-generation engine are the priority; choose the SuperSport when a lower seat and a road-focused specification matter more.
This is a specification-based comparison of current Ducati U.S. model pages accessed in 2026. Model year, trim, market equipment, dealer pricing and your intended use can change the answer.

Panigale V2 vs SuperSport 950: the short answer
The current U.S.-listed Panigale V2 uses an 890 cc engine rated at 120 hp at 10,750 rpm. The SuperSport 950 uses a 937 cc engine rated at 110 hp at 9,000 rpm. Both pages list 69 lb-ft of peak torque, but the Panigale reaches that figure at 8,250 rpm and the SuperSport at 6,500 rpm.

That makes the comparison less simple than engine size suggests. The Panigale has the higher published peak horsepower, but peak figures do not establish acceleration, lap times or which motorcycle feels stronger at every throttle position. The SuperSport’s lower listed seat height may matter more to a rider who needs easier reach to the ground than a 10-hp advantage does.

Ducati describes the SuperSport 950 as “Ducati’s road sports bike.” That is the manufacturer’s positioning, not an independent verdict about comfort or handling. Neither official page provides enough evidence to declare a winner for wind protection, heat, passenger comfort, reliability, fuel economy or real-world performance.
Current specifications at a glance

Engine and performance: what the numbers actually say
The Panigale’s power advantage
On Ducati’s U.S. pages, the Panigale V2 is listed at 120 hp at 10,750 rpm, compared with 110 hp at 9,000 rpm for the SuperSport 950. If your decision starts with the highest published peak output, the Panigale is the clear choice.
That 10-hp difference should not be converted into a claim that the Panigale will always accelerate faster or turn quicker. Acceleration depends on gearing, traction, rider input, aerodynamics, fuel load and the shape of the entire power curve. The supplied specifications do not include a controlled comparison, dyno chart or lap-time test.
Equal peak torque, different engine speed
Both motorcycles are listed at 69 lb-ft of maximum torque. The Panigale’s figure occurs at 8,250 rpm; the SuperSport’s occurs at 6,500 rpm. A lower peak-torque rpm can be relevant to a rider who wants the engine’s headline torque figure available earlier in the rev range, but it does not describe torque at every rpm or prove that one motorcycle feels stronger in normal traffic.

Use the rpm figures as context, not as a substitute for a test ride. If you can ride both, compare the same gear, road gradient and throttle openings rather than relying only on the peak numbers.
Displacement and generation matter
The current Panigale V2 page lists 890 cc, while the SuperSport 950 page lists 937 cc. Older Panigale V2 generations had different engine specifications, so a used-bike advertisement or older review may not describe the motorcycle in this comparison. Confirm the model year, engine displacement and market before using any specification you find elsewhere.

What Ducati says about the new Panigale engine
Ducati’s MY25 Panigale V2 insight material says the 2025 engine is Euro 5+ approved and up to 9 kg lighter than the previous Superquadro engine. Ducati also describes it as approximately 5.8 kg lighter than the Testastretta Evoluzione and Desmodue engines. Those are engine-to-engine comparisons; they are not evidence that the complete Panigale V2 weighs 9 kg or 5.8 kg less than a complete SuperSport 950.
Seat height and everyday fit
The Panigale V2 is listed with a 33-inch (837 mm) seat. The SuperSport 950 is listed at 31.9 inches (810 mm), a 1.1-inch (27 mm) difference. For many riders, that is the most immediately practical distinction in the table.
A lower specification seat can make stops and low-speed manoeuvring easier, but inseam alone does not predict fit. Seat width, suspension sag, boots, leg length and how the seat transitions toward the tank all affect reach. Sit on the exact trim with the riding gear and boots you will use. Do not assume that the SuperSport will be comfortable for every shorter rider or that the Panigale will be uncomfortable for every taller rider.

The supplied evidence does not establish a controlled comparison of riding posture, wind protection, heat or passenger space. Those are decisions to make from an in-person inspection and ride, not from the seat-height number alone.
Trims and equipment
Panigale V2 and V2 S
Ducati lists both Panigale V2 and V2 S versions. The retrieved material does not provide a complete, current U.S. equipment breakdown for every trim, so verify suspension, electronics, wheels, brakes and other standard equipment on the exact model-year page or dealer build sheet.
The Panigale page specifically lists Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) up/down 2.0 in the gearbox specification. Treat that as a feature listing, not proof of a performance advantage over the SuperSport.
SuperSport 950 and 950 S
Ducati lists the SuperSport 950 and SuperSport 950 S. In Ducati’s MY24 SuperSport source, the S version is described with multi-adjustable Öhlins suspension. Do not assume that the same package, supplier or adjustment range remains unchanged in every later model year or market; confirm the current specification before paying the premium.
The listed U.S. SuperSport prices separate the standard model from two S configurations, but price alone does not tell you whether the suspension or other equipment is worth the difference for your roads and riding. Compare the actual parts included, adjustment range and local service support.

Price and ownership budgeting
Ducati’s U.S. SuperSport page lists $15,495 for the standard SuperSport 950 in Ducati Red, $17,995 for the SuperSport 950 S in Ducati Red and $18,395 for the SuperSport 950 S Stripe Livery. These are listed MSRPs, not dealer quotes. Ducati states that the amounts exclude options, taxes, title, registration, destination, processing and handling, dealer charges and potential tariffs.
The retrieved U.S. Panigale material does not establish a current Panigale V2 MSRP. Because the two prices are not available on a same-date, same-market basis, there is no defensible price winner here. Ask a dealer for an itemized, out-the-door quote for the exact trim, then request the equivalent quote for the SuperSport in your state or country.
Budget beyond the sticker price: insurance can differ substantially between sport-bike trims, and accessories, tires, protective equipment, registration and financing can change the total. No complete ownership-cost or reliability comparison is established by the available specifications.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Service intervals and maintenance questions
The SuperSport 950 page lists service at 9,000 miles (15,000 km) or 12 months. The retrieved Panigale page material does not establish a corresponding interval, so do not assume the schedules are identical or that one motorcycle is cheaper to maintain.

Which Ducati suits different priorities?
Choose the Panigale V2 if peak output is your first filter
The Panigale is the logical candidate when the highest published horsepower matters most. Its current 890 cc package is listed at 120 hp, and Ducati identifies the engine as Euro 5+ approved. The 33-inch seat and the absence of a retrieved U.S. MSRP mean you should verify fit and price before committing.
Choose the SuperSport 950 if seat height and earlier peak torque matter more
The SuperSport is the more plausible starting point for a rider who values the 31.9-inch seat or the fact that its listed 69 lb-ft peak arrives at 6,500 rpm. Those are specification-based reasons, not proof that it will be more comfortable, easier to handle or faster on your favourite road.
For street riding, test the exact motorcycle
Neither specification sheet settles traffic comfort, heat, wind pressure, steering effort or low-speed balance. Ride the exact model and trim at the speeds you actually use. Include stops, tight turns and a stretch of highway if those conditions matter to you.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →For track use, do not confuse horsepower with lap time
The Panigale’s higher peak number may appeal to a track-focused buyer, but no independent lap-time comparison is established here. Tire choice, suspension setup, gearing, rider skill and circuit layout can outweigh a peak-output difference. Treat the Panigale’s power figure as a reason to investigate, not as a guaranteed stopwatch result.
For passenger or touring needs, verify capacity and protection directly
The supplied specifications do not establish passenger comfort, luggage provisions or wind protection for either motorcycle. Inspect the passenger seat and footpeg arrangement, check allowable luggage solutions and ride at touring speeds before making that part of your decision.
A step-by-step way to choose
- Lock the comparison to a model year and market. Write down the exact designation, such as Panigale V2, Panigale V2 S, SuperSport 950 or SuperSport 950 S. Ducati warns that equipment and specifications may vary by market.
- Measure your fit. Sit on both motorcycles in riding boots. Check whether you can place one foot securely, move the bars at full lock and reach the controls without stretching.
- Set your performance priority. If published peak horsepower is the deciding metric, the Panigale’s 120-hp listing leads. If earlier listed peak torque and a lower seat matter more, the SuperSport’s figures point in that direction.
- Compare equipment line by line. Confirm suspension hardware, electronics, braking components, quickshifter specification, colors and included accessories for the exact trims. Do not transfer MY24 S equipment to a different year without confirmation.
- Get two itemized quotes. Include destination, dealer fees, taxes, registration, options and any tariff or processing charge. The SuperSport figures above are advertised MSRPs with exclusions, while a current Panigale U.S. MSRP was not established in the retrieved material.
- Request maintenance schedules. Compare the dealer’s written service intervals and labor estimates. The SuperSport’s published interval is 9,000 miles (15,000 km) or 12 months; obtain the Panigale schedule for your exact market.
- Ride before deciding. Evaluate starting from a stop, low-speed turning, highway wind, braking feel and the riding position. These are areas the specification table cannot answer.
Common comparison mistakes
- Mixing generations: an older Panigale V2 review may not describe the current 890 cc model.
- Calling equal peak torque equal performance: both list 69 lb-ft, but at different rpm and without a complete torque curve.
- Turning engine weight claims into motorcycle weight claims: Ducati’s up-to-9-kg reduction refers to the new engine versus the previous Superquadro, not to the whole motorcycle versus the SuperSport.
- Comparing unlike weights: the Panigale figure is 395 lb wet without fuel; a SuperSport figure was not established in the retrieved U.S. excerpt.
- Assuming a lower seat guarantees comfort: seat shape, width, suspension setup and rider proportions still matter.
- Using MSRP as an out-the-door price: taxes, registration, destination, dealer charges, options and possible tariffs are additional.
- Assuming equipment is global: Ducati says specifications and equipment can vary by market.
Questions to ask the dealer
- Which model year and market specification is this motorcycle?
- What is the complete out-the-door price, including destination, setup, documentation, tax and registration?
- What suspension, electronics and quickshifter equipment is standard on this exact trim?
- What is the scheduled-maintenance interval and estimated cost for the first major service?
- Can I sit on and ride the exact motorcycle, not a different trim or prior model year?
- Are any accessories, software features or color options priced separately?
Verdict: which one is better?
The Panigale V2 is better for the buyer who deliberately prioritizes the current 890 cc package and its higher listed 120-hp peak. The SuperSport 950 is better for the buyer who places more weight on its 31.9-inch seat and the lower 6,500-rpm point at which Ducati lists peak torque.
Neither is the objective winner. The evidence does not support a universal claim about comfort, handling, reliability, running cost, passenger use or value, and the current U.S. Panigale price was not established alongside the SuperSport’s listed MSRPs. Match the exact year and trim, obtain comparable dealer quotes, and ride both before deciding.
