Velotric positions the Discover M for steep climbs, citing a 500 W mid-drive motor, 100 Nm of listed torque, a Shimano CUES 9-speed drivetrain and an Auto Mode designed to adapt assistance to changing terrain. Those features make it a plausible hill-oriented commuter, but Velotric’s product pages do not provide an independent hill-climb test or maximum grade. Whether a climb feels easy will depend on the rider, load, gearing, route and assist settings.
What the Discover M’s hill-climbing specifications mean
Velotric lists a 500 W mid-drive motor with 960 W peak power and 100 Nm of torque. Its product page also displays “130Nm Max,” but the reviewed material does not explain how that figure relates to the listed 100 Nm specification, so it should not be treated as a directly comparable or verified operating figure. A mid-drive sends motor power through the bicycle’s drivetrain. That makes the nine-speed Shimano CUES gearing relevant on climbs: choosing an appropriate gear can help the rider and motor work effectively as slope and speed change. Torque and motor placement alone, however, do not establish how steep a hill the bike can climb or how quickly it can do so.
What is known—and what is not
Velotric describes the Discover M as “Mid-Drive Power, Built for Long Climbs.” Its February 1, 2026 launch article says the system uses torque, speed and angle sensors, and describes Auto Mode as adjusting assistance as terrain changes. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent test results. The available product materials do not report a measured grade, climb time, standardized route, or rider-and-load conditions.

Velotric lists four named ride modes plus Auto Mode and describes SensorSwap for torque- and cadence-sensing riding. These features offer different ways to manage assistance, but the listing alone does not prove how the bike will perform on a particular hill. The Discover M launch article provides Velotric’s explanation of the system.
Battery range, speed and commuter equipment
The Discover M has a manufacturer-listed 48 V, 16.7 Ah battery rated at 801.6 Wh. Velotric advertises up to 95 miles per charge and a 28 mph top speed. The range is an “up to” claim, not a promise for a specific trip: actual distance depends on factors such as rider and cargo weight, terrain, temperature and assist use. Check the current listing for details before buying, since specifications and price may change.

Velotric’s listing describes an upright commuter/cruiser format and includes an 80 mm air suspension fork, front and rear fenders, a rear rack, front light, display, reflectors, bell, kickstand and suspension seatpost. The stated package also includes the battery, charger, pedals, assembly toolkit, manual and app guide, cable binder and NFC key card. Velotric separately lists the Discover M owner manual on its support page.

These values are listed on the Velotric Discover 3 comparison page. The Discover M’s higher listed torque does not by itself prove it climbs better than the Discover 3; motor type, gearing, rider input and conditions all matter, and the figures are not controlled test results.
Which Discover M size should you choose?
Velotric offers Regular and Large frames. Its stated height ranges change depending on whether the suspension seatpost is installed, and both configurations have overlapping ranges. Height can narrow the choice, but it may not settle fit on its own.

If your height falls in the overlap, check Velotric’s current sizing guidance and, if possible, ask a dealer or try the bike before choosing. Confirm which seatpost configuration applies to the range you are using.

Price and what to verify before buying
At the time Velotric’s product page was accessed on October 5, 2026, it listed the Discover M at $2,499. This is a time-sensitive manufacturer-listed price, so confirm the current amount and included configuration on the product page. Velotric’s mid-drive collection also lists the model and accessory categories; compatibility of any optional accessory should be checked before purchase.
