1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsYes, FIXD appears to work as a Bluetooth OBD-II code reader: it pairs with a phone app, scans for fault codes and displays plain-language explanations. That can help you understand why a check-engine light came on. But the available evidence does not show that FIXD identifies the underlying cause with dependable accuracy across vehicles, scans every vehicle system or replaces a mechanic’s diagnosis.
What FIXD does when you scan a car
FIXD is a small sensor that plugs into a vehicle’s OBD-II port and communicates with the FIXD app over Bluetooth. The manufacturer’s setup is to plug in the sensor, start the engine, pair it with the app and request a scan. The app then displays detected fault codes and explanations.
FIXD also advertises maintenance reminders and an issue-severity feature. Its product page says its code-explanation library covers more than 7,000 codes; that is the company’s stated library size, not an independent measurement of how accurately the device diagnoses a fault. See FIXD’s product information for its current feature descriptions.
In the words of Alex Kersten, quoted on the product page: “Simply plug our module into your car’s OBDII port, connect to it via Bluetooth, open the FIXD app, and any fault codes will be clearly displayed.” The page does not specify Kersten’s role.

What FIXD can tell you—and what a code cannot
A fault code points to a detected condition or system; on its own, it does not prove that a particular part has failed. A code can be a useful starting point, but identifying the root cause may require checking symptoms, live data, wiring and other vehicle-specific information.
A review published July 16, 2026, describes FIXD’s core function as reading and clearing generic check-engine codes and showing plain-English descriptions. The reviewer assesses it as lacking make-specific enhanced diagnostics and says ABS, airbag and transmission access are outside the documented core scope. The review is based on published specifications and owner reports, not hands-on testing, so treat this as that reviewer’s assessment rather than a controlled test or a universal finding. Note that Apple phones only need to turn on Bluetooth, do not connect Bluetooth in the phone settings to turn on OBD Home, the APP will automatically connect (this product is only suitable for OBD home)
The evidence available here does not establish diagnostic accuracy across makes, model years or fault conditions. That means there is not enough evidence to promise that FIXD will find the right repair—not proof that it fails. Treat the app’s severity labels and repair suggestions as guidance, not confirmation. Don’t clear a warning just to hide it, and don’t use an app label to decide that a car with potentially unsafe symptoms is safe to drive.
Will FIXD work with your vehicle?
FIXD advertises compatibility with gas-powered cars and trucks built after 1996, and diesel vehicles built after 2008. However, the July 2026 independent review reports conflicting diesel-year claims on FIXD’s pages. Check the manufacturer’s compatibility test for your exact year, make, model and fuel type before buying; broad year thresholds do not guarantee support for every vehicle or feature.

What is free, and what requires Premium?
FIXD describes basic code scanning, maintenance alerts and severity features as available with the sensor and app. Premium is not required for those advertised core features; it adds offerings such as repair-cost information, mechanic access, issue forecasting, vehicle history and an emissions pre-check. Features and availability can change, so check the current listing and checkout terms.
At access on October 8, 2026, FIXD’s product page displayed a sensor price of $59.99 and described a two-week Premium trial. Apple’s US App Store listing displayed Premium at $12.99 per month or $99.99 per year and said subscriptions automatically renew at the original price unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Those are dated listings, not guaranteed offers. Before subscribing, confirm the amount, trial end date, renewal schedule and cancellation method shown by the store where you sign up. How to decide whether FIXD is the right kind of scanner
FIXD may suit a driver who wants a phone-based way to read generic check-engine codes and see an explanation. If you need more than that, compare scanners on the capabilities that matter for your vehicle:
- Compatibility: Confirm support for your exact year, make, model and fuel type.
- Systems covered: Check whether the scanner reads only generic engine codes or also provides ABS, airbag, transmission or manufacturer-specific data.
- Workflow and functions: Decide whether a phone app is suitable, and whether you need live data, service resets or active tests.
- Total cost: Include the hardware price, any trial conversion, recurring subscription and software or update fees.
FIXD’s own OBD2 scanner comparison notes that advanced tools may offer service resets, active tests and selected ECU coding, with coverage varying by vehicle and license. Verify those capabilities for your car rather than assuming a feature works across all models.
