CV joint repair versus replacing the complete axle
A CV joint is part of a vehicle’s axle shaft assembly. A shop may quote work on a joint or its boot, or replacement of the complete axle shaft. Those are different scopes of work, so ask what the estimate actually includes rather than assuming “CV joint repair” means the same procedure at every shop.
- Joint- or boot-level work: Ask whether the store services the affected joint or boot separately on your vehicle.
- Complete axle shaft replacement: Ask whether the quote replaces the complete axle assembly, including the relevant joint components.
