Stellantis has recalled certain 2013–2016 Dodge Dart cars because a shifter cable can detach from the transmission, potentially keeping the vehicle from shifting into Park and allowing it to roll away. The recall is NHTSA campaign 25V674, also identified as Chrysler campaign A0C. A model year alone does not show whether a particular car is included: owners should check the vehicle’s VIN.
What is the Dodge Dart recall about?
The shifter cable may disconnect from the transmission. If it does, the transmission may not enter Park even when the driver selects it. NHTSA’s October 14, 2025 acknowledgement states: “A loss of park function may allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash.”
The recall covers certain 2013–2016 Dodge Darts, with a potential population of 298,439 vehicles in the NHTSA record. That figure is not a count of confirmed defects, and eligibility is determined by VIN rather than model year alone. NHTSA’s Part 573 safety recall report identifies the campaign and affected population.
Does the earlier Dodge Dart recall repair count?
No. The new recall notice says vehicles previously repaired under campaign 19V293 must receive the new remedy under 25V674. The earlier campaign addressed shifter-cable bushing failures, but a completed 19V293 repair does not establish that the VIN is clear of the later campaign. Check the current recall status for the specific car.

NHTSA opened investigation RQ25002 on June 30, 2025, after allegations of shifter-cable bushing failures following the earlier recall repair. Its opening summary listed 44 ODI incident reports and no crashes, fires, injury incidents, or fatalities at that stage. Separately, Chrysler’s recall report said it was not aware of related accidents or injuries as of September 24, 2025. Those dated figures do not remove the rollaway hazard described in the recall.
How can I check whether my Dodge Dart is included?
- Find the vehicle’s 17-character VIN, usually visible at the base of the windshield or on vehicle registration and insurance documents.
- Enter it in NHTSA’s recall lookup or use Chrysler’s recall lookup. NHTSA’s tool provides vehicle-specific recall information; a model-year match is not enough to confirm coverage.
- If campaign 25V674 or A0C appears, follow the instructions in the manufacturer’s notice and contact an authorized dealer to ask about the campaign and remedy status.
Is the recall repair available now?
NHTSA’s acknowledgement dated October 14, 2025 said the remedy was still under development and that a second notice would follow when it became available. That is the status stated in the October 2025 notice, not confirmation of today’s repair availability. Check the VIN lookup and ask an authorized dealer for the latest status before making plans.

Do not treat a generic replacement bushing, shifter cable, or rollaway-prevention device as a substitute for the recall repair. The official recall documents did not identify an aftermarket product as a remedy.

- Use the owner notice’s safety instructions if the VIN is included, and ask a dealer how to proceed while the remedy status is being confirmed.
- Do not assume the car is covered—or cleared—based only on its model year or an earlier repair receipt.
- Use the manufacturer’s current contact information from its official site; contact details can change.
