Which car was faster at the Nürburgring?
The Nürburgring’s official record table lists the Audi RS 3 ahead of the standard BMW M2 Coupé, but behind the M2 CS. These are separate record entries from different dates, not results from a same-day head-to-head test.

Why the RS 3 record is not a direct showroom-car comparison
The Nürburgring describes Audi’s record vehicle as a pre-production RS 3. Its setup included Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R semi-slick tires, a 19-inch ceramic brake system, RS sports suspension with adaptive damper control, and an optimized chassis setup. Audi Sport racing and development driver Frank Stippler set the lap. Audi’s October 28, 2024 release describes the RS 3 as the top model in its series and gives the five-cylinder turbo engine’s output as 400 hp and 500 Nm. Audi credits its torque splitter and optimized chassis setup with contributing to cornering performance; those are the manufacturer’s explanations, not an independent causal finding. Did the RS 3 have a lower 2025 sticker price?
The available figures do not support a U.S. price verdict. Audi Ireland’s MY2025 list gives €61,985 for the RS 3 Saloon with 400 hp, S tronic and quattro. That is Ireland-market pricing, not a U.S. MSRP, and cannot be compared directly with a U.S.-market M2 price. Audi Ireland’s price list is the source for that figure.

To determine which had the lower 2025 U.S. sticker, compare the same country and model year, the exact RS 3 and M2 variants, base configurations, and destination-charge treatment.
